I just rewatched this video as I wanted to watch videos of people a few weeks out in recovery from their hystos, and I'm actually so shaken by how uncannily similar our experience was. I'm nearly a week post op and 2 weeks before surgery my surgery was denied so I was a bit of a mess leading up to it. I also have 4 incisions, I had a catheter and packing, and it was exactly the same (totally relate about the clown scarves thing, that's exactly how I described it to my girlfriend the day it happened lol). Thanks for this video, it's nice to have that reassurance that everything is going okay and my concerns are valid! I find hystos are really something that the trans male community don't talk about much- you can find hundreds of things online about top surgery, but nothing on this sort of stuff. It can be really scary feeling like you have no idea what's happening or being able to see how things progress (and all of the resources being for cis women, which can be both not relevant and dysphoria inducing!)
Beyond saying that your are an amazing human being; beyond saying that you inspire me; beyond saying that I am so grateful that one, you are a friend; and two, you are a colleague; and three, just that you are one very special man. I am so grateful for you.

I know that some trans guys had to stop T for many reasons ( high liver enzymes for an example ) so what would happen if I’ve chosen to remove all my female organs then I was told to stop T! The idea terrifies me so much.
No need to stop T. Estrogen cream is localized so it'll rejuvenate everything without messing up with your hormones. That's what he used prior to surgery.
It may be possible somewhere in the future. There are studies that are undergoing where you can create an egg or sperm from the cells extracted from the bone marrow.

I didn't think I'd ever outright said where I'm from on RUclips. You must have a good eye and recognize the surroundings. Haha. And I have Blue Cross Blue Shield MN through my employer! BCBS has a policy in place to cover trans things. But there was just a huge mishap with the coding that my surgeon used and that was what caused the issues for me.
Hey Jeff! It sounds like the process was quite a journey, I'm glad everything went well and you are recovering. My Ex and a couple of my friends went through something similar with their transitions. My Ex decided to put some of her eggs in storage before she started testosterone. Her sister volunteered to be the surrogate. Catch is she had to wait till she was the right age to put her eggs in storage before she could start the treatments and what not.
Thanks, John! I didn't really want to go through the process of saving eggs because it seemed like more of a hassle for me than what I wanted. Plus, I've always wanted to adopt anyway. Haha. Though, I'm a little confused by your use of pronouns here. Did you mean to use she/her/hers even though there is use of testosterone? Just clarifying.
Not a lot of people want to go through the hassle, and some people also start transitioning young. Yes, because its past tense also prior to transitioning and to avoid confusion. This was like three years ago. And yeah she is now a he.
Ah. Got it! Though, I would suggest still using he/him/his when talking about trans people in the past tense. I suppose you could ask him how he would prefer to be referred by, but I know for many of my friends (and myself included) I still want he/him/his pronouns used.
The US healthcare system is essentially a for profit organization, so... Yep. That was the price for someone who had no insurance. I know I am very privileged and fortunate to have insurance help back me, but I had to fight for that. And thank you! I plan on continuing the video making for as long as I can! Haha.

I just had a hysterectomy a few days ago. Laying around all day is no fun! I actually went out a couple times and now I am chilling with an ice pack.

To answer this question - with insurance - my egg cryopreservation was about $200, and my hysto is in a few days. Both being done in the same year.
