I highly recommend Teach your Monster to Read for Gemma, online literacy games for preschool/ kindergarten age. I am a teacher and always recommend and setup for my students when I have taught kindergarten.

My local supermarket got all the back to school supplies out in mid June/early July. Here in France, teachers give school supplies lists, they can be super picky in middle/high school ( one red folder with 2 rings, with these specific dimensions, and paper with only this size squares!

You would go into school usually on a Tuesday to find out your class/teacher then you’d get your list, Wednesday there was no school or only morning classes so everyone went to the shops to get what they needed then school started properly on Thursday. It was so stressful, sometimes what you wanted/needed was out of stock and it took forever, because everyone was there at the same time. Now teachers usually send out lists at the end of the school year if you are staying on at the same school or post them online/by e-mail and you can collect the items over the course of the summer. This is how it has been for the children I nanny anyway!

A charter school sounds like so much fun! Are the courses standard or are their more options for individualizing student education? What courses are the girls taking this year?
I used to go to a charter school, I think that public schools are probably better if you can get into advanced classes, because they usually have a lot better teachers and more opportunities bc of the funds.
I spent six years (from kindergarten) at a charter school bc my mom worked there. Its like a private school but with public school funding. Most schools like mine we have to wear uniforms. Courses are standard and the only things you really get to choose like only in 5th grade was what electives (special) you got to choose. Again this is what I experienced in my six years of going to a charter school
