Wonderfully put Ralfy !
I have a cask strength 13-year Miltonduff bottled by A.D. Rattray. My experience with this bottle is similar. Independent bottlings have only recently appeared in large numbers where I live, so I haven't been exploring these whiskies for very long, but so far, I find that I enjoy the "blend fillers" a great deal. They tend to be more subtle than many of the famous malts, and they are well balanced. For those who enjoy a glass of whisky with a meal, these whiskies are food friendly, and they pair well with a wide range of foods. Also, these whiskies are usually a good value. Even with age statements approaching 30 years, they can still be affordable.
Been telling my Whisky Pals for ages, Sometimes you dont want the Full 'Aida' you just want 'The Merry Widow' I usually go for a Dailuaine for that. Ill have to have a look for a Miltonduff though , when my Credit card has revived itself!
Thank you, Ralfy, for another in-depth IB review! It's certainly true that sometimes all you crave is a casual dram to unwind at the end of the day 😊
Put a log on Ralfy 👍
To your health 🥃
Top notch info Ralfy🤘
James Eadie is excellent and so is Douglas Laing. There’s so many fantastic and affordable IB’s out here, especially getting to taste all the Auchroisk, Ardmore, Inchgower, Dailuaine. Sláinte 🥃
Hey Ralfy, how nice, I had a JE Miltonduff 17yo, which is available in Germany, with a 22 month finish. Very delicious one too.
A 12yo miltonduff from Blackadder ist one of my big favorits, so happy to have a second bottle.
I have a Gordon and MacPhail from early 2000’s Miltonduff, it’s wonderful , even at 40%
That’s because the casks it was matured in were from very old oak and were absolutely amazing. Some American and Canadian whiskies made back in the 50’s-80’s can be better than a lot of “premium” whiskies from the last 20 years.
James Eadie brought out a great Dailuaine bottling recently James Eadie’s Speyside 10 Year Old.
Hah just finished that bottle. Really nice dram tasted older. Bought for £40+. James Eadie knows his job 👍😁🥂🙋♂️
@@peatbull3426 I'm on my second bottle, might buy another while stocks last!
I've had a couple of James Eadie bottles now. Currently on a Ben Nevis 9, finished in an oloroso - it's solid whisky but the finish hasn't quite integrated.
Previously had a Caol Ila finished in amontillado sherry, which was bananas on first openeing! You'd never have guessed it a CI blind, but as the bottle went down, it turned into a belter.I
Cheers
I read this morning that there’s officially 151 scotch distilleries operating in various capacities now, at least 3 Diageos are just producing gin.
Interestingly, one is miltonduff
Try the 12yo Signatory 100 proof Miltonduff, old school leather sherry and very clean all round. Exceptional value for money
Plus it´s so dark, you could paint your walls with it, wouldn´t it be so good in the glencairn.
Having grown up 2 minutes from the distillery and yet to sample anything from it, i might just have to try and get my hands on a bottle of this!
I was expecting an 84, but you got me with an 85... Nice one, Ralfy!
Ralfy would you consider doing a whiskey advent calendar this December? Would be fascinating!
First! 😂 But that doesn't matter at all....
You know you’re not the first but do you really care
"right there with Tullibardine".. i´ve had some amazing Tullibardine (IB) its a malt i gladly pick up from IB, it has some soft velvety mouthfeel with a cereal light herbacious note, that suits oaky casks so good.
I had a 16y from Adelphy. I traveled around trying to collect more bottles. Extreme complex and fruity and the same reaction after adding water. Unfortunately all are gone...
Hey Ralfy, would love for you to do a Re-review of Glen Scotia 15. The last time you reviewed it, you gave it a high score of 92 under the old system. Keen to see if they are still consistent, especially now with the new packaging for all Glen Scotias
A very good review
And again I enjoy watching how whiskey is added to water, because that's what the masters do... ;)
🥃 Cheers Sir. Ralfy, MBE
I picked up a bottle of Alexander Murray 24 year old Miltonduff single cask single malt. Bottled in 2018. Haven't tried it yet, but am looking forward to it!
Cheers 🥃
I have a James Eadie Royal Brackla 10 year old. Guess I have to open it soon.
My favourite whisky shop has a 17 year old miltonduff from James Eadie as well, a bit expensive for my budget. Maybe when my palate gets more experienced I'll spend money in stuff like this
I searched the Internet for James Eadie bottlings and I found a few which did not declare natural color and unchillfiltered. Isn't it strange?
So? Do the independed bottelers go to the distillery with there ouwn cask and do the let them fill there? Or do they bay the cask from the distillery?
So does it carbonate ? The answer is: YES !
Should it be carbonated ? YES !
My first inexperienced users experience with IBs was hilarious, looking back. So, 2020, one same specialists shop, different shelves, and here I am buying Bunnahabhain by Gordon McPhail Discovery series instead of the original one. Later on happy air quotes me finding out it's 43% vs 46 original stuff 😂😂. Why...😂 On a side note I should've watched at connoisseurs choice series price wise and have some movement inside skull box 😂😢. Part of the path right 👍🏻
beauty , eh ? . . . only if u can have indies in your market . . .
There are plenty of online shops like fine drams, the whisky world, the whiskey barrel, royal mile whisky, whisky exchange, master of malt, hard to find whisky, passion for whisky are all the major ones. And if you buy a half dozen bottles at a time the shipping is that brutal. Sláinte 🥃
Experienced whiskey drinker is basically an alcoholic isn't it ?😁 .. anyway , I like your channel
