This is the only video game my dad genuinely enjoyed playing with me because he liked how simple yet realistic it was. He even would wake up early to practice the tracks so he could try to win from me, and that is why the xbox will always be my favorite console of all time.
This was my favorite racing game back on the OG XBOX, spent a lot of hours obtaining all the platinum medals just to get the special color on the TVR Speed 12, multi-player was also a blast as my friends and I would play a made up game called " last man standing" which was essentially dirty racing, always had full lobbys just for that.
I loved this game. It was so cool to drive in Stockholm (my city), the attention to detail was insane, they even added graffiti tags that were that were there on some walls in real life.
This game is an Xbox classic and deserves to be made backwards compatible. My only technical issue is that on the 360 the menu glitches a bit on car and track selections, and maybe that's just the transition from its original platform to the later console. It oozes cool with cool cars, cool cities to drive around, and a cool soundtrack to race to.
This game is one of those that I would say is perfect. Everything about it was done with such care and attention to detail. One of the all time greats.
I alway thought Geometry War was an old game featured in PGR 2, not an original one, I spent so much time playing this version and wandering in the gorgeous show rooms. Also I absolutely adore the sound effects in the menu, they never felt old to me XD The graphics of PGR 2 are still unbelievable for an Xbox game. The only game coming close or just a bit better on the technical level would be Rallisport Challenge 2. It's an amazing game. Thank you for this sweet callback to my childhood!
I actually remember playing this game pgr2 back then and being a huge disappointment for me. I preferred the first game. Rallisport 2 still remains the best racing game on the OG Xbox. I'll be giving the second pgr game another chance when they make progress on Windows 10 emulation.
@@tropixx_xlr1549 Going back to it nowadays, the 30fps cap and slowdowns are much more noticeable than they were when I was a kid. But it's still a damn fun and addictive game. It sucks it's not in the backcompat catalogue. Can't wait for a fully playable version on xemu that you can play in retroarch on series X or S. ^^
Happy memories playing this game. The kudos system of progression still remains the best I’ve ever experienced in a racer. Perfect blend of realism and pick up play feel.
Yea, this game is the main reason I miss my OG xbox. I still have it, but it is in my parents house. I don't get why we can't play these games on pc, the tech is there. I guess we will have to wait for emulators to become good enough.
I'm still hoping we eventually get a re-master or just a re-release of these games for current systems/PC. While I liked PGR3 the most, 2 is basically just as good. I just personally had more fun with 3 because of the MP with my friends at the time. But you can't go wrong with any of these 4 games. And let's face it, these are 4 classic games, that literally spawned another classic series of games :D How often do devs get to brag about that??
@@RacerC45 he mute the video for a reason so they won't get a copyright strike tho. Also that's kind of a weird opinion I never looked at any game review caring about the music. I want to see the game play and the features music is irrelevant.
I absolutely love MSR and PGR, the sense of speed and rubber gripping during turns never felt so immersive and "realistic". Life begins at 170 baby : D
And at 9:24, I think there's a course in Forza Horizon 4 that's nearly identical to this one, seeing as that Forza Horizon 4 takes place in the U.K. And that could also mean some employees that are employed at Playground Games used to be employed at Bizarre Creations.
I picked up an original Xbox back in 2020 and got some games alongside it,one of them being PGR2. When I first played it,I was mind blown by the fact you can walk around a huge dealership and stuff. But I only got to play it only a bit after my original Xbox was pretty much busted for good. About a month or so ago,I got me an Xbox 360 and was able to experience this game in that way. I really love the games vibe and presentation and I love its multilingual OST. It just sucks that when playing it on the 360 it has a noticeable amount of issues like when going to the vehicle select screen, everything goes Black and in certain events the game has massive frame drops and sometimes the audio stutters too. It's also a shame that I won't be able to try out the DLCs and that I can't play my own tunes in-game on the Xbox 360. I really love that feature so much and I wanted to try it out myself. But despite this,I love this game a lot and I admire how influential it was for future racing games with it's Kudos system
Hey i didnt get an upload notification from you for months now and looks like you've got alot of uploads and thats cool since i like hearing your reviews. I hope you can do a review on a ps1 fps game called Expert one day or maybe even those old Syphon Filters or the Mercenaries series. Since you like vehicle games how about Destruction Derby or Hardware Online Arena on the ps2? Anyways keep up the uploads and good work man.
10:58 PGR2 does not support any widescreen resolution. It's a 480i/p game that can output an anamorphic widescreen image (which you then have to stretch with your TV's image scaling option), which is not the same as Xbox games that support an actual widescreen resolution like Amped 2 at 720p.
Hey Gaming pastime, Long time viewer here. Is there anychance we could get a Top 10 or Top 5 list from you. Mabie your top 5 racing games or anything along those lines? :D
As i learned many devs switched from bizarre creations to playground games and the style points system of forza horizon is a spiritual successor of the kudos system
Hate to be a “hey you should review X game” commenter, but i would love to hear your thoughts on the Battlestations series for Xbox 360. Love ur reviews

bro the ticks when you do a slide are sired into my brain, i played so much of pgr2 with my dad, good times

This game on Xbox Live back in the day was something else. The good old days

Amazing game. The difficulty levels and corresponding medals spinning in the menus were genius. Kept me coming back.
Best in the series IMO. Great video too!
Excellent game. On of my top 3 racers, and it still looks incredible now.

God, I hate copyright laws. I would love to hear this game's soundtrack.
Dude what's wrong with you? you're on RUclips you can really look up Project Gotham 2 soundtrack on RUclips 🤦🏿♂️

August 2021 still playing on the 360
What I would do to be able to play this on PC. Played so much of this as a kid.

I just repurchase PGR 1&2 as a bundle for $13.00 from eBay
Just fired this game up on my 360 and it's fun to this day. It's a shame that it's dead now. Wish Microsoft would do something to bring it back.
east on whacker, west on whacker and the long whacker run is what i mostly remember.

This game needs a serious reboot for next generation consoles
Nice review! Also the earliest to one of yours I've been.
What do you think of the DLC for PGR2?
My take: most tracks are fun and gorgeous! Especially the Paris map pack!
@@neocaron87 I’m a fan of both DLC cities.
I modified my OG Xbox to use this game’s DLC.
PGR 2 AND 4 baby!!!
Microsoft owns the rights again via Activision. Maybe we'll get a remaster or a rerelease.
Gotta love a burnout start.
I have records on the game, still feel good about it.
Some of the engine sounds sound almost like their real-life counterparts.
I wonder if you can play in compatibility mode on Xbox series X?

ok this is gonna sound crazy/desperate but can i play this on a recent xbox cause it came out like 20 years ago
Loved this game 100/100
I see you have the DLC.
Yes ! Extra pleasure for me here 😍😍
I remember the greyish tone in this game, I hated it and found it hard to see corners and such coming up.
Was wondering, is there a current racing game that uses a kudos like system?
I think Forza Horizon does, the first one at least certainly did. Think they may even share some devs.
As i learned many devs switched from bizarre creations to playground games and the style points system of forza horizon is a spiritual successor of the kudos system
I like this and Apex
Игра просто супер!!!
Anotha one!
