You know i think I'll have a look into this as the perfect guide still calls then Genobee and Agraya. It should be fun and well i think i can find a Japanese copy on ebay.
Replaying this game a few years ago, I actually paid attention to the emails and I was surprised to realize that the inciting incident can be interpreted as the biggest corporation getting jealous that a rich startup is choosing to do business' with its lesser rivals instead of them, because Kisaragi and Crest have more expertise in environmental research, and cheap MT/industrial production respectively. With the the resulting 4-way conflict nearly ending all human civilization. Nexus gets allot of bad rep these days for its gameplay, but its premise is one of my favorite's in the series.
What I love about Nexus is the replay value. You can choose different "paths" and the world report would sometimes reflect it. Also In your first fight Against Genobee if you beat while heavy damaged he would praise your skills.
I often found myself deliberately throwing missions that force me to attack Navis. However, with only 1 outcome in this game being allowed, it doesn't matter if you try to side with one corporation or another. It's friggin annoying, but I guess that's the doomsday plot in a nutshell.
I think that is sadly the life the raven, loyal to no one and always having to take on the task others do not want too even if it makes them look like the bad person. However maybe AC6 will offer some loyal endings, i hope so.
Even though timeline wise it’s pretty much the second to last game in the series, i think Nexus is a good starter Armored Core purely based on control scheme and play. Especially if you want to jump to Last Raven.
Outside of the PS1 era my time with AC has been all over the place jumping from one entry to another in no order and even skipping some entries. But when I played Nexus and recognized that so called "Mysterious AC" at the end, a fight or flight response was triggered. Seeing the apocalyptic ending also made me reflect on what Nine Ball said in Master of Arena and how they were meant to guide and protect humanity. We bring another great destruction and the one standing in the way of that calamity was Nine Ball carrying out their directive to the bitter end.
Yes humanity is bound to bring about its own death and so they will always need a guiding hand to ensure the world they all like so much is safe. Its weird really isn't it as nineball and all the other ai where doing a good job, they kept balance and only started to fail either due to a fault or when humanity wanted more freedom. Which as you said always seem to lead to them ruining the place they seem to want to protect.
I really appreciate these breakdowns as often in the midst of playing the games it's hard to keep track of all the story developments (which you can hear a lot of people reference when complaining the games have no story when in fact they do but the story isn't told in conventional ways)
Thank you its nice to hear this. Yes ac does like to sometime tell it's story in strange way, but the thing i like about nexus is that the story can be read if the player wishes to look at the mail, if not then they can get the basics of the story but not the meat of it.
i like nexus, but it always felt like it should have a branching story where your choices actually affected things... im so glad they did that for last raven. it was very annoying that i couldnt side with navis against mirage
Got to admit, the twist ending to Nexus absolutely stuck with me. That fade to black with the low armor warning and the slowly fading sounds of the weapons exploding as the world is devastated either because you failed... or because some nutcase at Navis tricked the Raven into setting off the ancient weapons to bring everyone down with Navis. The thought I got suckered into unleashing those weapons has never really left me. Not because anything really suggests it other than how the intrusion is only detected after you break the systems and the Unknown AC's destruction sets off the (mini) apocalypse. Great exploration of the setup for the stage of Last Raven, really looking forward to your video on that!
I have to agree before i even started writing the script for this video i knew the ending and i remember it so well too. It is just one of ending in games that sticks with you i guess and ah yes the last raven movie, its going to be fun and hard work.
i wouldnt say Navis tricked us...more in the lines of they didnt understand what was stored in that facility. the implicaiton being that facility being what we later known in Last Raven as the "Internecine" that upon activation realised it was intruded into and effectively " freaked out" causing to deploy all of its defenses and " sanitizing the area" by means of saturation bombardement and deploying the unknown unit to dea lwith the intruder(heavily implied ot be the Prototype of what we later Call "Pulverizers")
Ahh nexus, not my first but one of my favorite armored cores. I can't wait for you to cover the AMEDA's and the Last Raven, so we can get a vid on the demolisher weapons. Also please if you have enough stuff do a video on the unkown weapons, they are such an interesting part of the lore! Keep it up AClore!
Thus begins the end of a era, perhaps Navis knew about how dangerous these lost technology were and wanted nothing but to keep the corporations from getting their hands on this, thus forcing hands to be drawn. It comes to me that unlike other corporations, Navis actually does care for the wellbeing of citizens and possibly the world around them, why would they hire the Raven to protect a convoy of citizens even with the assumption that high ranking officials were among them, why would they call for one last request to destroy a uncontrollable MT that would probably cause havoc instead of just watching it rampage through their former territory. Perhaps Navis knew of the dangers of the lost technology, perhaps...they knew of the old world and refused to let history be repeated again and fought for the sake of the world they live in. But all is for naught.
Its very possible maybe there was a human behind Navis who let slip about this new resource or more likely a spy within the corporation leaked it and thus began the Mirage goal of obtaining something they did not have. Still as one raven said relics of the the past won't bring humanity a better future.
My first AC game, Nexus. Without it, I will never got into this franchise. In this entry, it just another work for a raven taking on a mission for a salary. Corporation still never change.
During my armored core binge i couldn't bother to finish nexus so when starting last raven and seeing nexus summed up in the first 30 seconds really showed how little you need to actually play it. Especially when last raven never mentions Navis you can probably jump from silent line straight to LR with little confusion. "Oh yeah after silent line companies accidentally turned on some murder robots and everything sucked for awhile. Back to it then!"
Man seeing all these other ravens in the comments not getting it. Just follow the money, it always lead you to better fights in the end. Nothing else matters.

With all this lore you're dropping and myself being a current 5th gen RAVEN, I have more insight who or what those antomotons I fight are. Good job as always, your videos always have me glued like a History channel mystery. ^
My first hands-on AC game that I played, I had a brief experience and exposure of AC: Master of Arena only when playing split screen PvP with my brother when I was a kid. According to Ravens, I wasn't aware that Nexus is the easiest then I played Last Raven which is said to be the hardest among the series, ngl. Those titles are my personal favorites that I enjoyed, too bad I missed out AC4 and FA but played the (not so) AC: Verdict Day which is my least favorite.
Y'know after playing AC6 watching the lore vids on the older games and seeing the older AC's feels weird particularly when i see parts that share similar visual designs and knowing that they may or may not be of the same timelines but the designs stayed somewhat the same
Its true a lot of part do that same design feeling with a bit of a tweak. Ac6 was very noticeable with this as we have parts that look very much like parts from ac3 only changed a bit to not be a dead match. Its the same with storylines really there will always be a great destruction event to kick off a time line and usually ai plays a part in the story somewhere.
No corporations were saints in this game, but Mirage were particularly a-holes in this game. But who are we to question their actions? We're Ravens after all. We take advantage of that struggle.
Nexus was a real experience, and the controls were neat but damn why did they have to give thrusters heat!? As this was before online patching the game felt so unbalanced ahh! Still it was a fun ride.
It's strange how this looks worst with its textures yet this is sharper than 3 And 3 has worst textures than 2 which is odd since 3 came out after I have been playing this series on pcsx2 in 5k and it's very sharp I like it and the effects look really good wish it was a textures mod
Ah i think its the joys of the emulation, sometimes the older game look better then the newer one and sometimes they just don't work at all look at ac4 for a long time there was an error to do with not being able to display the paint of the next so everyone was using this red pixeled looking next. Texture mods would be nice, but i think it would a lot of work.
No but you could say they wanted to see the world burn....Still if i am allowed to out my theory hat on its possible the corporations are still testing some of these new products and well since many are mass produced there is nothing to say the raven are not getting the best.
The only thing i disliked from this game is the absence of the great and mighty red-mark 1000-ammo machine gun. but hey atleast i can have dual-machine gun
This seems like one question that could land me in very hot water. However for fun and with very little knowledge on Cross Ange Rondo from the Cross ange fandom wiki, let's be honest it has a lot more on offer then most nexts. This of course if the right pilot with the ring, song and blood. With its self repair ability which a next can not do once an arms gone that's it, different modes for super speed and all out attack mode again a next is only as good as it pilot there is no power up button, a sword which if strong enough to cut through dragon scale and navel vessels then i think it would be strong enough to cut through a next primal armour and armour, an assault rifle with grenade launcher which again seem to be designed to take out dragons of various sizes but since these dragons seem to have magic power i guess they would go through primal armour. Meanwhile we have White glint, very fast but not time breaking fast, He is an elite pilot having known to fight off four nexts at once and force his next to come back for round 2. But then i guess we're crossing into the line of fandoms here and what's the skill difference between a pilot from Cross ange then armored core? Is she the best they have or is she one of these rookie pilots who get stronger to the point she becomes the best? If so when do the two meet when they are both in thier prime or when both are rookies? Its a fun question and really i think again with my limited knowledge that the worlds are a little too different for a fair match up as self repairing machines and time-travelling powers is not really something a next pilot could compete with.
Ah bummer sorry to hear that. Its why fromsoftware should consider putting the title on a store front should AC6 do well. It would allow people a modern way to experience the game if they can't or don't want to emulate.
@@armoredcorelore would be really nice if they did the in thing atm and a sort of “legacy collection”. Like bundle the timelines together like Capcom does and Konami. Hopefully AC6 sells well and makes them consider this.
Ah ACFF is my favourite of the series, however i do plan after some more videos to hit Last raven. I might leave formula front when i finish the 5th gen as something light hearted after the heavy lore of 5th gen.
That's fair and i think the nice thing about ac is that we have this wide range of different games which allows as many people as possible to be able to find the one's they really like or dislike.
Nexus was a huge divider on its features because of its changes. notably the changes ot the heat mechanic is what caused the most gripe, followed by the nerfs ot automatic weapons that stemmed from how broken they were in SL
They changed nearly all the stats of the parts and made heat mechanics annoying. Last Raven reduced the heat thankfully, I like the part disabling/destruction system it introduced too. Although, I wish they didn't make all hover legs as delicate as paper mache lol I really like Last Raven over Nexus though. The replay value is great, it's challenging and there's so many ac parts to play around with (especially if you have the PSP version).
The preview or the end itself? As with the preview i tried something new, i was bored and well i think I'll just stick to a simple picture of what's next ha ha.

Yes they are/ But your right we're raven we're here just for the glory and cash. Politics is not our game, but we sure do get work from it.
When you realize the controller was right
The only way to save mankind is to kill it.
Excellent timing
Thank you.
So,it is a prequel to AC: LR? I never played this one,so thanks for this video.
Thank you for watching and well its is what lead to the events of last raven.
Unfortunately, He was not the last raven... Unless...
Maybe..
Honestly armor core before 4th gen games are more grimdark than 40K
They certainly are and i love it ha ha. Mind you give me another formula front ac game and i am golden.
Nexus was a real experience, and the controls were neat but damn why did they have to give thrusters heat!? As this was before online patching the game felt so unbalanced ahh! Still it was a fun ride.
It was a change i think many though was a bit nah. Still as you say fun time.
It's strange how this looks worst with its textures yet this is sharper than 3
And 3 has worst textures than 2 which is odd since 3 came out after
I have been playing this series on pcsx2 in 5k and it's very sharp I like it and the effects look really good wish it was a textures mod
Is there a lore reason for all that damn heat??
No but you could say they wanted to see the world burn....Still if i am allowed to out my theory hat on its possible the corporations are still testing some of these new products and well since many are mass produced there is nothing to say the raven are not getting the best.
Nice work man
Thank you.
Too bad Rimfire didnt live long enough to have a child and name them Centerfire 😞
You let me down fromsoftware we could of had a family video! ha ha.
The only thing i disliked from this game is the absence of the great and mighty red-mark 1000-ammo machine gun. but hey atleast i can have dual-machine gun
And as we know duel machine gun makes a happy raven.
Was brought here by the for answer retrospective video EDIT: from Above Average Gaming
Ah well Above Average Gaming has done some super videos on the AC series and i should thank you for giving my video a chance.
@@cm54387 Already being worked on, just replayed the game over to capture the footage needed.
ahh yeahhhh, my favorite gen 3 game.
It was fun to playthrough again.
Yes! Thank you sir
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Lmao alpha male Evengal.
He was much cooler in nexus.
I got a question for you who would win in a fight the villkiss from cross ange rondo of angel and dragon or white glint
@@armoredcorelore yes but no pilot of any ragna mail can ever match the skill of an ai especially if that ai is nine ball
sounds better than last raven
Well this is what lead up to last raven. It was a case of corporations playing with things they should not be.
@armoredcorelore no yeah i know, but the story feels better...or maybe zinaida gave me ptsd
Me too. Zinaida is one reason i was happy to be done with LR lore video.
So is mirage first gen enhanced or second?
It’s a real shame I can’t play nexus as it’s not on the vita store
Ah bummer sorry to hear that. Its why fromsoftware should consider putting the title on a store front should AC6 do well. It would allow people a modern way to experience the game if they can't or don't want to emulate.
@@armoredcorelore would be really nice if they did the in thing atm and a sort of “legacy collection”. Like bundle the timelines together like Capcom does and Konami.
Hopefully AC6 sells well and makes them consider this.
@@wannabkain4400 Crossing fingers and if no i shall write them a strong worded letter =).
I hope you do the story of armored core formula front in the future but skip ninebreaker straight to last raven
Ah ACFF is my favourite of the series, however i do plan after some more videos to hit Last raven. I might leave formula front when i finish the 5th gen as something light hearted after the heavy lore of 5th gen.
@@armoredcorelore oh I tought you gonna do ac formula front to last raven before 5th Gen ac
@@kevingame3198 No as much as i love FF, i want to cover last raven and fifth gen before i talk about the spin offs ac games.
@@armoredcorelore got ya I'm excited whats in store for last raven
@@kevingame3198 Thank you for understanding and oh i have a plan.
I really had a hard time getting into Nexus and Last Raven. Something about them just didn't seem to be as fun as the earlier titles
That's fair and i think the nice thing about ac is that we have this wide range of different games which allows as many people as possible to be able to find the one's they really like or dislike.
FROMSOFTWARE unbalance/balance those 2 game too much
Nexus was a huge divider on its features because of its changes.
notably the changes ot the heat mechanic is what caused the most gripe, followed by the nerfs ot automatic weapons that stemmed from how broken they were in SL
They changed nearly all the stats of the parts and made heat mechanics annoying. Last Raven reduced the heat thankfully, I like the part disabling/destruction system it introduced too. Although, I wish they didn't make all hover legs as delicate as paper mache lol
I really like Last Raven over Nexus though. The replay value is great, it's challenging and there's so many ac parts to play around with (especially if you have the PSP version).
YES! NEXUS!
=)
What was going on in that outro?
The preview or the end itself? As with the preview i tried something new, i was bored and well i think I'll just stick to a simple picture of what's next ha ha.
I wish you didn't have that accent cuz I'm too stupid to be entertained by your reading, I just think my doctor's chewing me out.
Well that is something new.
@@armoredcorelore I suck.
I personally think FROMSOFTWARE should remake PS2 armored core games 🫡
I mean remakes of them all would be nice. However maybe they want to see how well AC6 does before making further plans.
@@armoredcorelore given from software track record with their past few releases, Elden ring sekerio shadows die twice they have been on the roll for the past decade since dark souls 1 in 2011
Remake from a time timeline based collection would actually be critical so people can follow the lore of certain timeline on there liking
