    He was also a lead animator for Walt Disney and great jazz trombonist ! He formed Firehouse 5 Dixieland band which was probably playing song at the end ”California Here I Come”. One talented guy !

    Fun fact: Ward Kimball is the guy who rings the locomotive bell in the I Love Toy Trains intro. He appears in the series multiple times, including his layout.

      Hahaha I must tell you that I try not to "double dip" with content but once I had my hands on color footage of Emma Nevada I needed some way to reintroduce the GFRR, so I figured I'd cover the breadth of Ward's trains

    I was lucky enough to have been at Ward's on "The Last Run of the Chloe" day many years ago (as an invite by Imagineer David Mumford and his wife). Got to sit in the Grizzly Flats station in the same captains chairs that Ward and Walt sat in to plan Disneyland in the 1950s. Quite a day. Met Ward and had him sign a Disneyland photo for me.

      That sounds like an absolute dream! Did you get into the cab by chance?

      @@WaltsNephew So many people there that day, the cab was full! I also met Sam McKim, and other Imagineers and artists as they met on Ward's front porch. Got to go into Ward's model train room, too. Amazing collection! Back in the engine shed, we saw the original "Fulton Corners" signs for the depot, and the "Steam Man" (about 15 feet tall) that Imagineer Tom Scherman made for a birthday for Emma Nevada in the late 1970s...

    ah yes, Ward Kimball, the father of Casey Jr.
    P.S. i would love to see a compilation of Warner Bros. Animated Trains. (1930-1969) ;)

      Thank you! I don't have a better memory for Looney Tunes cartoons but I am tempted to do that compilation! But I am more centered on Disney-related subjects so, to quote the cliché, "only time will tell"

    This video is quite informative. Ive also been meaning to tell you I also liked the train scenes in some Don Bluth animated films such as Fievel Goes West and Balto. I also was meaning to ask in regards to your snowtrains video have you seen Snowpiercer? Either the movie or the tv series?

    • @WaltsNephew
      @WaltsNephew  2 года назад +1

      The tv show seemed a bit too outlandish for my taste and I had no idea that snow piercer was a movie hahaha
