Yep! That is indeed the one and only Mike Lindup on keyboards and vocals. Incidentally, the only time the band had to use a different keyboard player was between 2001 and 2005 and that's because Mike himself refused to tour during those years, as he wanted to spend more time with his family and work on his solo projects. So top session musician Lyndon Connah filled in for him.
@@Naltrex To be fair, Lyndon Connah did try his best to replicate Mike's trademark falsetto vocals, but he was clearly struggling with them. No doubt you've already noticed, that is why the band avoided performing any songs that Mike had originally either sang lead on or at least featured prominently during those years, or it would've become much too obvious. However, at the end of the day, Mike himself had chose not to tour with the band at that time for the reasons I've already stated, so they obviously had to find someone else to fill in for him in order for them to still be able to tour.
@@stephenalanmoore7278 Lyndon took SO much stick, some of it absolutely vicious, simply for having the audacity to not be Mike. The poor bloke dealt with it really well, all things considered. He was absolutely lovely too, and really didn't deserve most of it. The mixing on some of the 2000-2005 era stuff is awful too, with the keyboard stuff much too dry and prominent, which really didn't help his cause. Again, totally not his fault. I saw him playing in his own band and with Go West a few times, and he was a completely different musician in those situations, probably because he wasn't constantly in the line of fire for being himself. But, it has been ever thus for some L42 fans; just look how the "He's not Phil!!" stuff still rages on, three drummers and 35+ years after someone decided to leave the band of their own accord. Sigh.
@@Leese42 Yes. Gary Husband has said in the past that when he first replaced founding member Phil Gould, he got sack fulls of hate mail from annoyed fans just because he was chosen to be their new drummer. Those so called fans were being very immature about the situation because at the end of the day, Phil chose to leave of his own accord and so both Mark and Mike had asked Gary to take over his job.
After all those years, your still superb!
Love the jazzy break in the song. Definitely gave it something new.
