Omg I had the same with the Fellowship of the Ring. I started it a few times now and I'm just never able to finish it... I just want to read that series so bad!! The Diviners is also still on my shelf, but indeed, it's pretty heavy! Really hope to get to it soon. Good luck with your tbr!
Big books intimidate me. First one i read was "Battle Royale" which was 670 ish pages (very confusing to keep up with the 40 characters as they all seemed to have very similar names). Then there's "Gone with the wind" and the biggie in my collection: Stephen kings "IT". 1000+ pages... I was going to read that next after finishing my currant one but with the long anticipated movie adaption of Phillip Reeves- Mortal Engines coming out in Dec 18, i need to prioritize the second read as it has been 9 yrs since i last read it.
The Fellowship is a great book but I think your edition sucks. I used to have this leatherbound pocket edition and it's so tiny, the line pitch also. Once I started reading in a normal paperback edition, I flew through it. So it might be that...
Honestly, the final empire trilogy is such an easy, engrossing read, I flew through it in less than a week, amidst many school projects and a full schedule. It was one of the best reads I've had in a looong time. I really hope you get to them soon, you won't regret it! it truly does not feel like a lengthy book. Thanks for the video :)
I've read the Fellowship of the ring and adored it... now I'm reading the second book in the series.. it's pretty cool! I even have the Book Thief on my TBR and I can't wait to get to it! It seems so interesting!! Can't wait!!! :) Fatima S
I totally cover bought The Fortune Hunter too! I enjoyed it; I'd recommend reading it when you're looking for a historical fiction book that won't challenge you or effect you in any extreme way. Which does occasionally happen to me! Haha
I love Paper Towns! Paper Towns has the perfect balance of humor and seriousness. And it's a great commentary on how we see and imagine other people. It is still my favorite John Green. The thing you need to know about them, though, is that LfA is about a manic pixie dream girl, and Paper Towns is his response to his own writing of a manic pixie dream girl and how unrealistic it is - so the two female characters are similar but are similar intentionally.
One day I will read J R R Tolkein's books! I hope you get through the last 100 pages hehe. Heard mixed things about The Diviners but I feel I'd get pretty invested in it too and am looking forward to picking it up one day. Paper Towns by John Green is good but Looking for Alaska is better!!! I hope you do enjoy them. Oh my word You by Caroline Kepnes. Can't wait! :)
Great video. I hope one day you'll read Anna Karenina because it's really worth reading, even though it's big and it took me ages to finish I really think it wasn't a waste of time. Tolstoy is wonderful
The most intimidating book on my TBR is for me The Witching Hour (Lives of the Mayfair Witches, #1) by Anne Rice, I loved her series the vampire chronicles, this one ties into that series, but the first book is huge... Over 1200 pages!
Trust me, after you start reading 'The Diviners', you completly forget its number of pages. There's nothing else you want to do besides reading that book. When I finished it, the only thing I could think of was that I wanted it to be 1000 pages long because it was so amazing that I didn't want it to end. It's the perfect read for Haloween.
I wish I was as good at finishing series as you are! Also Paper Towns is my least favourite of John Green's work so I recommend picking up Looking for Alaska or An Abundance of Katherine's for your next Green.
I don't blame you for not having read Paper Towns yet. I personally love TFIOS, but I did not like Paper Towns. I felt like I wasted my time reading it.
My most intimidating book is the bind up of all three Night Angel novels by Brent Weeks. It's over 1200 pages, and it's just not only heavy to carry, but it's also kinda dark. I seriously can't wait for you to get to The Diviners though. I read the first introduction and was hooked. As far as Mistborn and Name of the Wind, I highly recommend it audiobooks. Those helped me get through the story a lot faster, and also be absorbed into it. Plus the narrators are perfect :)
The Kingkiller Chronicles look a lot more intimidating than they actually are. The story isn't fast paced, but it's so, so engaging. I promise you'll read it fast! And they're very. Very. Good.
Omg girl you neeeeed to pick up You around halloween time, its so awesome. If you want we can buddy read it! Tbh i'd be fine rereading that book every year. (Plus i have an awesome playlist that goes along with it!). x
A really intimidating book on my TBR is Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke which is an alternate time novel in which magic has almost disappeared from 19th century Britain - except for the two main characters who are the first magicians in centuries. I got the book on Amazon because I started to watch the series on Netflix and LOVED the storyline and the theme of prophecy that breaks the bond between student and teacher, but when I got the book I was... Very surprised. It is a mass market paperback and is 1,006 PAGES LONG WITH TINY TEXT. I know that one day I am going to be able to devote that amount of time to a single book, but until then I am just staring at it at the top of my TBR pile with a bit of a guilty heart. I hope I can find the courage to pick it up sometime soon.
Paper Town is quite different than The Fault in Our Stars, it has some fun adventures that I couldn't stop reading back then. I think you can love it even if you don't enjoy The Fault in Our Stars so much :D
Anna Karenina is so good. It took me like a month to read but it's so read worth it. Les Miserable by Victor Hugo is definitely my most intimidating. It's over a 1,000 pages and I'm just not ready for it. I keep staring at it on my shelf trying to get some nerve! lol
My most intimidating series rn is The City of Bones series. I don't know why I haven't read it yet but probably because of how much I know I'm gonna become invested in it and I just wanna wait until the right time lol
war and peace is definitely the most intimidating book on my tbr, but idk i don't own it so maybe that doesn't count. but i think for books i own it's my bindup edition of lord of the rings, which is 1200 pages lol
I am intimidated by Outlander, Dreams Of Gods & Monsters, and Mistborn. I'm about 200 pages into Mistborn: The Final Empire though and really loving it so far! I tried to read Paper Towns, but I just couldn't get into it.
I've heard a few other people say that about Paper Towns as well, which is another reason I've been hesitant. I'm so glad you're enjoying The Final Empire though!! Let me know your thoughts once you finish it!
I have a bind-up of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which is such a brick. It's over 1,000 pages and I'm sure it would have been hard enough to get started on the series if I didn't have to pick up that massive copy every time. (I feel the same way about the movies!)
I definitly am initimidated by classics as a whole. I read very few. Sometimes it's the size. But the thing is for me classics r very hit or miss. It's rare that I was like meh it's okay. I either wanted to chuck it at a wall or it's my favorite book of all time. But normal books I tend to like. Plus they r sooo slow some of them it takes about half the book sometimes for it to speed up.
I've been on a bit of a classic kick lately loll so I'm getting through some of them, but I totally understand the feeling. Classics, especially translated ones in my opinion, can be really challenging and intimidating.
A Clockwork Reader Yea me too I want to read them and like them. I'm trying to make more of an effort to read classics especially the ones I own. Yea sometimes the language is so old it's hard to understand and its not a fun read. Have u read Jane Eyre?
I do really understand why Tolkien is hard to get through. It took me 5 months to finish The Lord of the Rings so I feel you. For me it was just about knowing what the book was about, but it was a difficult book to get through
The only thing that's keeping me from reading The Name of the Wind and its sequel is the fact that there doesn't seem to be a release date for the last book. :(
Ok, PLEASE read You! I read the book recently and it blew my mind! Would love to hear your thoughts on it! The Name of the Wind is also extremely good! It's the perfect book for when you're in a fantasy mood!
I definitely will and I'll be sure to do a review! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! I'm thinking of picking The Name of the Wind up at the beginning of summer because I'll finally be free of school and have enough time to enjoy it 😊
i haven't read the lord of the things but for some reason i feel like the movie is soo soo much more enjoyble than the books. i have watched it and ..... damn ...... is it good
I've also been reading fellowship of the rings for foreverrrrrrr.. my goodness. paper towns isn't worth it in my opinion idk :/ looking for alaska is lovely I've been meaning to read anna karenina right now the most intimidating book would be outlander!
Mazalan series by Stephen Erikson is my most intimidating book series. I finally started gardens of the moon but damn I’ve had to force myself to read it
my most intimidating book on my TBR is 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak, idk why i'm so intimidated by it, it's just so long and it seems like it would be kinda confusing and hard to read since the narrator is death and idk but i really want to read it and try to get through it lol
charlotteluvscats Same here! It's not usually the type of book I'd read but I've had it for years and heard such great things about it... I just can't bring myself to start it😂x
+A Clockwork Reader I'm aiming to attempt the name of the wind at some point this year, it's been on my shelf for so long! Hopefully we can both get through it ^_^
Honestly my most intimidating book is War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy I actually saw the adaptation by the history channel its a six part miniseries and I loved it so I thought I should read the actual book, it's a thousand pages long.
War and Peace is on my TBR too! I honestly can't even fathom that one right now which is why it wasn't on my list lollll. I've promised myself to read Anna Karenina first before I can even think about picking that one up.
I read the lord of the rings trilogy before the first movie came out but I didn’t like it at the time. I should try it again, I was only 14 when I read it so...
+A Clockwork Reader Its set in the middle ages in England and it is centered around the building of a cathedral but its also about a romance and a lot about revenge. It's the first in a duology I believe and both are over 900 pages
Thank you so much, good luck to you too!! Here's to hoping that we both finish The Fellowship of the Ring soon 😊😊

You by Caroline Kepnes is so good. I really enjoyed it... although it takes a bit to get into! You'll enjoy it whenever you choose to pick it up :)
Those little Hobbit leather bound books are so nice looking!

Wow, Hannah! Your edition of "Anna Karenina" is wonderful!! Which edition is it??
One day I will read J R R Tolkein's books! I hope you get through the last 100 pages hehe. Heard mixed things about The Diviners but I feel I'd get pretty invested in it too and am looking forward to picking it up one day. Paper Towns by John Green is good but Looking for Alaska is better!!! I hope you do enjoy them. Oh my word You by Caroline Kepnes. Can't wait! :)
Maybe I'll read Looking for Alaska as my next John Green book then! Thank you 😊😊 I hope you get to Tolkien's books someday soon and enjoy them!
I'm currently reading The Final Empire and it is so good! But yes, it's definitely a book you have to take your time with.
The Name of the Wind will most likely become one of your favourite books, it's so great. Totally worth the time and effort :)
Ahhhhh I can't wait! 😄
Great video. I hope one day you'll read Anna Karenina because it's really worth reading, even though it's big and it took me ages to finish I really think it wasn't a waste of time. Tolstoy is wonderful

+Eleanor Kate Thank you for the rec!! I'll bump that one up! :D
Welcome! Hope you find one you enjoy :)
My most intimidating TBR is To Kill A Mockingbird. I've had it for ages, and just haven't picked it up yet.
I don't blame you for not having read Paper Towns yet. I personally love TFIOS, but I did not like Paper Towns. I felt like I wasted my time reading it.
Just My Thoughts same. I LOVED TFIOS but I read half of Paper Towns and personally didn't like it.
also - anna karenina is really worth it. i'm currently halfway through it and it's so good.
Ohhh thank you for the recommendation, I'll try out the audiobooks! Also good luck with the Night Angel novels!! You'll make it through 😊😊
Thanks :) I'll back to it after all the library books :p
The Kingkiller Chronicles look a lot more intimidating than they actually are. The story isn't fast paced, but it's so, so engaging. I promise you'll read it fast! And they're very. Very. Good.
That's so nice to hear! Maybe I'll pick them up sooner than I expected 😊 thank you!
+A Clockwork Reader woohoo! I think you'll love them and I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
I have read Looking for Alaska multiple times and I love it!! I did;t really love TFIOS though
Omg girl you neeeeed to pick up You around halloween time, its so awesome. If you want we can buddy read it! Tbh i'd be fine rereading that book every year. (Plus i have an awesome playlist that goes along with it!). x
Yes OMG I'm so on board, we will plan this!! And I'm excited about this playlist 🙌🏽
A really intimidating book on my TBR is Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke which is an alternate time novel in which magic has almost disappeared from 19th century Britain - except for the two main characters who are the first magicians in centuries. That's good to hear! Not all hope is lost lolll 😄
+A Clockwork Reader And to me, Paper Town is much better than Looking for Alaska lol
Anna Karenina is so good. It took me like a month to read but it's so read worth it. Les Miserable by Victor Hugo is definitely my most intimidating. It's over a 1,000 pages and I'm just not ready for it. I keep staring at it on my shelf trying to get some nerve! lol
Lolll Les Mis is on my TBR too, but I don't own a copy (and I think it's very much for that reason, so I don't have to face it every day 😂😂)
My most intimidating series rn is The City of Bones series. I don't know why I haven't read it yet but probably because of how much I know I'm gonna become invested in it and I just wanna wait until the right time lol
This video inspired me to do this tag! You're amazing :)
war and peace is definitely the most intimidating book on my tbr, but idk i don't own it so maybe that doesn't count. but i think for books i own it's my bindup edition of lord of the rings, which is 1200 pages lol
YOU is crazy LOL..I liked it a lot though. Hidden Bones, the sequel is pretty good as well.
I am intimidated by Outlander, Dreams Of Gods & Monsters, and Mistborn. I'm about 200 pages into Mistborn: The Final Empire though and really loving it so far! I tried to read Paper Towns, but I just couldn't get into it.

I am also intimidated by Outlander as well. I have it, but haven't picked it up yet LOL
The Chronicles of Narnia. I have the bind up edition and it's so big.
I totally see how that would be intimidating! Aren't there 6 or 7 books? I've only ever read the first one lolll
I have a bind-up of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which is such a brick. It's over 1,000 pages and I'm sure it would have been hard enough to get started on the series if I didn't have to pick up that massive copy every time. (I feel the same way about the movies!)
Omg that's massive!! Any book that's over 800 pages is just so big that it feels like it would take FOREVER to read, even if it's really enjoyable!
Oh my god I'm currently reading Anna Karenina and I was really intimidated at first but trust me it's not as difficult to read as it seems.
Yes I completely agree! I also feel like sometimes the scenes are so descriptive that it's tedious to get through it 😁
A Clockwork Reader Yeah, definitely. There are endless descriptions of landscapes, haha. He was fond of his trees, our dear Papa Fantasy :P
I looked up the Fortune Hunter - and it's Sissi, the Empress of Austria and I soooo want to read it. And yes she actually excisted. :)
Ahhh very cool! If you read it, let me know what you think! 😄
The Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace is a stumbling block for me, but I seriously want to read it.
The only thing that's keeping me from reading The Name of the Wind and its sequel is the fact that there doesn't seem to be a release date for the last book. :(
I've heard about that! That's so concerning, I hope they set a release date soon!
I'm thinking of picking The Name of the Wind up at the beginning of summer because I'll finally be free of school and have enough time to enjoy it 😊
Book 3 of the Outlander series and Book 4 of the Lightbringer series. They are both large and it's taking me forever to get through.
Cool video :). For me, the most intimidating book is The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson because I'm just not sure if I'm going to like it or not...
I hope you end up enjoying it! I know the feeling though, I've put off so many books because I was afraid that they'd disappoint me.
Thanks.
sooooo agree with John Green
i haven't read the lord of the things but for some reason i feel like the movie is soo soo much more enjoyble than the books. i have watched it and ..... damn ...... is it good
I've also been reading fellowship of the rings for foreverrrrrrr.. my goodness.
paper towns isn't worth it in my opinion idk :/ looking for alaska is lovely
I've been meaning to read anna karenina
right now the most intimidating book would be outlander!
+Ani Staudt not quite sure why i typed "rings"!
+Ani Staudt lolll no worries! Also yes, Outlander is SO intimidating especially because there are so many books in the series!
YES exactly!!
Mazalan series by Stephen Erikson is my most intimidating book series. I finally started gardens of the moon but damn I’ve had to force myself to read it
Mine is Winter, cause it's 800 pages and the last in the series
The last in the series is always the hardest, I feel your struggle
The most intimidating book on my TBR is S. by J.J. Abrams because it's like two books in one and I don't even know how to go about reading that :D
That's on my tbr too! And yes it's very intimidating because it's such an interesting format!
my most intimidating book on my TBR is 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak, idk why i'm so intimidated by it, it's just so long and it seems like it would be kinda confusing and hard to read since the narrator is death and idk but i really want to read it and try to get through it lol
charlotteluvscats Same here! It's not usually the type of book I'd read but I've had it for years and heard such great things about it...
I just can't bring myself to start it😂x
Helena x i was the same way for a while but i finally picked it up and it's amazing! i loved it! i'd just find a time where you can read for a while
I finished it in a day cause it was so A M A Z I N G. Just read it. Please. You won't regret it.
Laila Juras it's been on my tbr since foreverrr but aright then. I trust you
Trang Thu i'm glad
The name of the wind and Anna Karenina are both on my intimidating tbr!
We will make it through together!! 💕
If reading a series is intimidating, try writing one. 😂 IJK. Writing is my oxygen.
Swann's Way by Marcel Proust is my most intimidating book right now!
You will conquer it one day!!
I need to complete The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, but I have six books to go. I stare at them, they stare me back and I pick up another book.
Lolll yup! That's me with Mistborn!
The Shining!!! But I'm forcing myself to read it now. I'm on page 58.
I believe in you!! You can finish it! 🎉🎉
I'm the same way about Lord of the Rings, and it also has a lot of words. haha
most intimidating for me is either the Diviners or city of bones.
City of Bones was a pretty faced paced read for me, but I can understand the intimidation with the whole six book long series 😁😁
My most intimidating book is definitely Les Miserables! I've wanted to read it for so long but it's so chunky...
But worthy of reading;)
Omg yes! That one's massive!
I read the lord of the rings trilogy before the first movie came out but I didn’t like it at the time. I should try it again, I was only 14 when I read it so...
I really want to read Game Of Thrones buuuut my wallet isn’t happy about that haha
The most intimidating book on my TBR is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Ohh I've never heard of that, what's it about?
+A Clockwork Reader Its set in the middle ages in England and it is centered around the building of a cathedral but its also about a romance and a lot about revenge. It's the first in a duology I believe and both are over 900 pages
Carry on is literally drarry au fanfic
😍😍😍😍
Carry On is kinda a "re-telling" of Harry Potter, but in my Opinion Carry On is so MUCH better than HP
OMG really?! I can't wait to see what I think!
+A Clockwork Reader hope you enjoy it🙌PS: Dont hope a lot of gay scenes because there's only a gay scene
Hannah please don't start looking for alaska, It's very boring.....soooooooo boring that I stopped reading it in between
Just read page 1 of YOU. Then get back to me
