Morph ball was called Maru Mari in booklet of Metroid on NES. Guess "Marrow Mary" was sort of a spin on that.
If you say “Marrow Mary” into a mirror three times, a terrifying ghost comes out, and she eats your bone marrow.
in fairness to them, Maru Mari is actually the name of the power-up in Japan. so they weren't wrong, they just didn't translate it lol
Does the booklet also call bombs poop?
@@AnEveryManJack In earlier prototypes, the bombs actually were her poop, which exploded upon exposure to the Zebesian atmosphere.
Wow, they added a brand new boss at around 11 minutes in. Cool!
Maru mari is the original name for the morphball, just like varia suit is supposed to be barrier suit
Baria Suito I suppose?
I remember learning that it was originally _Maru Mari_ as a kid, but I don't recall knowing about Varia, but it makes sense for sure and I think it worked out to be a really cool localization error 👍🏼
It bothers me more than it should that most people pronounce it vah-ria, instead of vay-ria.
i guess this is a pretty good vanilla-chocolate romhack, except for being able to access the water area with no gravity given how obnoxious it gets, it would be a good QoL to prevent going too deep into it without gravity.
Said this in the review already but this is a solid hack with clever- er, ethical usage of vanilia chunks to create a new world. Can't wait to watch, hope you enjoy!
Edit: For the one guy wondering, music stuff is made in open mpt and then converted using mltroid (or something like that I'm probably messing up the name of the second thing lmao)
17:43 wow eldritchguy78 had the exact same thought I had...
we need to start calling them wall shakers again
14:39 i've never seen a double kill with one missile before til then, so cool
i appreciate that the light bugs now work in reverse, making your killing them ethical as it is a needed sacrifice in order to see and therefore progress and save(?) the day
Well, that's one way to constructively utilize frustration with..."persons of questionable ethics", I guess. Nice RomHack, much memes. Also, good playing as always.
Also, @ 1:13:00 -ish, on the topic of Elmo, I had Middle school friend who could do the most uncanny vocal impersonation of Elmo. His fav line to say?:...
"Elmo Knows Where You Live"
....yeah, Elmo can get kinda scary depending on the line being read.
Hey Oats, I'm not sure where or how you prefer people to recommend romhacks, but since seeing you enjoy Metroid 2 a little while ago and mentioning there aren't many left, I wanted to share one.
I came across "The Threat Never Ends" randomly just by being related to your videos. Watched a little of a playthrough and then decided I had to just try it myself, with AM2R being the only other one I've ever played. I searched your channel and didn't see anything about it. It's a little rough around the edges and English isn't the creator's first language, so that could hurt its visibility for you.
But I would love to see you check it out. After Dread, it was honestly exactly what I was looking for in a Metroid game. It has new unique powerups and you're not obligated to find and use everything. The exploration was more open and able to jump around, and I've played through it twice in single sittings each (like 4-5 hours). There are some silly elements and bosses that will make you wonder, but it was just a really cool design and pace and I think you'd find it fun. It had a returning powerup I was happy to see again, and it really let you jump in and slog it out with a lot of different bosses.
I never expected power bombs to have such name lol
Maru mari that brought back some childhood memories 👍
Hi! It's loopyNick, awesome video, dude! :D
I tried looking up what the gimmick of this hack is on Google, but there's just no info. Just some review comments talking about meme names.
Can someone summarize, in plain English, what this hack is so I can decide if it's worth my time to watch? A straightforward, non-cryptic description would be very helpful.
They did the original Kraid theme pretty well with SM's soundfonts o.o
Cool stuff brother!
anyone know where i can listen to the arrangement of Kraid's lair used in this hack?
I wonder, is it ethical if you sequence break?
Thanks again.
finally a good video
oats drinks his own milk? O.o
high fructose rotations, canine
So I just gotta fill up on gamer drink to reduce my carbon footprint?
Well hot damn, with as much gamer drink as I slam, I'll never have to worry about mine, my family's or my family's friends', or my friends' families', and all of their families' and friends' 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
1:01:05 suddenly red Brinstar music?
what was stability?
it removes the RNG from the "ERROR" area maze
What are some good super metroid hacks that don't mess with the game's physics?
None because the good hacks all fix the game's shitty physics
I liked hyper metroid
@@jimmyjohnjoejr Let me guess, you prefer Fusion/Zero Mission physics
@@tailpig6417 yeah no shit. what else is there that i would like more, metroid 2? Though personally i think that dread has the best controls now that it's released, but it's still a lot like those other 2
you're wrong bro, there's still some very good hacks you should try
