I spend a lot of time here in GTA online. The house there is small but its the closest thing to a beach house. The town is really peaceful. And most griefers don't bother people in Paleto Bay
I've got the grow-op just outside of town up there. Tbh I think there are 3 reasons as to why paleto bay doesn’t do well from a town POV: 1. The Robbery of the bank in paleto ( The Paleto score ) from story mode may have hurt the reputation of the small town, and thus people don’t want to visit it ( if story mode takes place before online) 2. Also like in storymode, it’s stated in Lamar Down that the ballas use the sawmill in paleto to ship out weed, and if we consider the other mc businesses, bunkers and salvage yard, then there is a lot more illegal businesses in paleto than you think. 3. Lastly, Trevor mention in paleto score setup that the cops are crooked, so maybe the town officials are crooked as well. Sorry if this is long, but that’s the ideas I have
cops CANNOT be crooked unless the town/city/county they are employed by is MORE crooked. Current times(real life)-scrutiny against cops is perpetrated by corrupt officials who are covering up their corruption and putting on a fake image of integrity

Ngl, this is by far my favourite place in gta. It feels like even though it's a little run down it has community. It just needs a little money injected and it'll become a beautiful little seaside town. Also in terms of natural looks, its beautiful
Fun fact: In the mission "Pack Man" it is stated by Trevor that the drive from Los Santos to the northern border of Paleto Bay is supposed to take four hours.
I think the housing issue with Paleto Bay has to do with the game itself. During the drive up to the Paleto score there is a possible line mentioning that the water north of Paleto is actually a river. Meaning that a possible norther map expansion could have meant that it would be way closer to another city/village.
In Online there's even a line in the Lester Mission "Bust Out" that mentions "Paleto County" likely the county north of Paleto Bay across the previously mentioned river.
@@Fetidaf Exact Line I found is Lester mentioning in The opening cutscene right after Franklin asks what he's doing, Lester responds "You'll be waiting for them by the river", and then you drop Franklin off on the north end of Paleto....plus there's not another river close enough to be usable for a getaway within game universe logic.
This the type of content I miss watching ,back in 2013 with the all Easter eggs and mysteries on GTA that was a good binge, now you just bring the memories back, keep it up man, quality content!!
One thing I noticed that's mentioned here is the common misconception that Paleto sits on the Ocean, the water north of Paleto is confirmed to be a river via Lester during The Paleto Score heist(which is in Single Player) and notably a GTA Online mission for Lester called "Bust Out" refers to a Paleto County(likely north of Paleto due to its name), I do understand the reason for the common misconception(due to it being referenced in one GTAV heist, and a random GTA Online Mission) though. Also I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure The Cluckin Bell Cartel(as Vincent calls them) only started it's Operation in the Factory sometime in 2023.
Love these type of vids brotha. Would love to see this type of video on Los Santos itself. Theres a lot going on in LS that only people who pay attention to the lore withen the game would know. Maybe also fort zancudo or the prison.
Paleto Bay is the Hazzard County of San Andreas. Every time I go there, I feel like I'm going to see the General Lee speeding through town being chased by the cops who drive white patrol cars just like Rosco P. Coltrain and his officers do in the show.
The biggest clue as to what Paleto Bay represents was actually right at the beginning of the video. The car dealership project was abandoned in 2008. And the town seems to be economically depressed. The whole town represents the stalling of our economy in 2008. Keep in mind that for the adults who created this game, that would have been very fresh in their minds, and a lot of them probably would have been impacted by the 2008 real estate crash in particular. (Also why so many houses are on sale)
In SP there is a random event where a NPC banker repossessing a foreclosed asset openly retches and vomits on the lawn upon the conditions of squalor the foreclosed on previous residents left the property in
The bounty hunters update has alot of bale jumpers go to paleto bay, which makes sence as its ideal as a place to laylow. I myself bought a property there as roleplay for a "place to retire incase it all goes tits up".
I'm pretty sure the reason why the construction didn't finished in 2008 was because of economic crisis that happened in 2008 and the construction plan didn't recovered from it.
7:35 Horses were indeed meant to be in GTA 5, as they were going to be used in the scrapped Sharmoota Job as a getaway vehicle, and in the mission Lamar Down, which wasn't even meant to take place at the Sawmill, but rather the Del Perro car park, where Michael was going to arrive on a horse, and Trevor... a lazer jet.
My grandma lives in Paleto bay, all though she lives far from where I live in vinewood hills I visit her every Sunday plus I like the scenery of the journey❤
This is my opinion but judging from playing the San Andreas map, I feel like paleto bay was more of a quick patch because the developers didn’t feel like doing San Fierro because really that’s what should be on the other side of mount Chiliad.
A friend of mine has all businesses he could get out there in Paleto. First it was just to avoid griefers, which works great btw. But over time, as he grew fond of his Character, he build quite the lore. To me, Paleto still has this 90's charm. And yes, I miss that dearly.
It's probably more a reference to the 2007-08 financial crisis. A number of small town developments got halted or at least put on hold when the housing bubble burst
Horses were meant to be in GTA V, Trevor and Michael were even meant to steal horse's from Martin's ranch and some PC players found horse noises in the game code, but Rockstar removed them for some reason
I’ve always liked Paleto. I try to keep my Online character “based” up there whenever new businesses and properties have it as an option. I think making your character the crime lord of the small town would be awesome.
I owned a house in Paleto Bay because I love doing long rides on my motorcycles. After I get tired of grinding for money, I would hop on my motorcycle and ride from the city. From there, I would either cruise around on a scooter, swim on the beach, or ride a bicycle around. It's like taking a break from all that chaos in Los Santos.
Best place to live and spawn when you retire from GTA Online and it is getting kind of gentrified nowadays with the bunkers, I don't want to spawn near Little Sudan at Eclipse or some other part of LS
i made my main home and businesses in Paleto Bay exactly because it's so remote, but mostly because i just like the small town atmosphere and trees in the area. I also just like the idea of pretty much owning half the town, and i like that it has two rivaling Motorcycle Clubs just down the road from one another, closer than the two by the beach in the city! It's a shame people these days prefer flying mkII's over minor distances than having a long peaceful drive through the woodland area.. honestly wish there were smaller villages between the mountains as well, just for passing through. only really one place comes to mind by the river, but it doesn't really count as a village.. Thanks for giving the small town some attention, i hope gta6 will have more places similar to it!
The little things that appear on the Gas Station at night always weirded me out also there is a black spider nest that appear near that area at night under a bridge and also up mt chilliad there is more to this town than meets the eye
When I played gta 5 online I literally downsized to the 6 car garage house in paleto just bc I loved the location. Rarely any players in a server on that side of the map.
Resident of a small town here: Another possibility for Paleto to stagnate as it did.. It's possible their town council doesn't want the town to grow larger. They may be choosing to keep it small, so its "a part of the simple life." They had ambitions in the 2000s clearly, but its possible that toward the 2010s they shifted their way of thinking. I only say this because I live in a stagnated town which has no fast food, one grocer, a few major employers... and that's the case here. However my town makes a lot off tourist. As for adding hotels- it would be a more quaint option to have rentable cottages facing the water. :) Thats more typical here, at least.
The horse thing in the end is really driven down to the ground when in the game files, there was a different story mode mission similar to what we have where you save Lamar at the sawmill with Trevor, Micheal, and Franklin. Instead of the sawmill its a parking garage in the city and Micheal was supposed to arrive on horseback as backup
There's so many available businesses in Paleto, you could probably own almost the whole town. If far sales weren't practically impossible from Paleto I'd be so interested in buying them all up just to see how much of the town I could own.
My second character lives in Paleto Bay. I always liked it, but because my other characters only visited PB for work, I never got to really experience it in detail. Now that I have a character that lives there, I love it a whole lot more.
Horses definitely were going to be in the game. There’s files in the game for a horse model, horse sounds, character reactions to hitting horses, and even police radio files where they say if the character is riding a horse.

Small detail but the music choice was perfect for this video, really makes it whole.
This is the kinda video to watch at 2-6 am, so that’s what I’m doing
Ahhh RUclips culture, let it never die.
Paleto Bay may seem down in the dumps, but many of the local folk work at my facility by the ocean. I make sure to spread the wealth in town.
Very ethical facility I’m sure
I love these little in character comments they’re so awesome
I think the housing issue with Paleto Bay has to do with the game itself.
During the drive up to the Paleto score there is a possible line mentioning that the water north of Paleto is actually a river.
Meaning that a possible norther map expansion could have meant that it would be way closer to another city/village.
What line is that?
@@Fetidaf
I dont remember it word by word. It just mentions that there is a river north of paleto.
Lester says it during the Paleto score.
@EdwardDragon96 basically confirms that san adreas isnt an island like the game shows
In Online there's even a line in the Lester Mission "Bust Out" that mentions "Paleto County" likely the county north of Paleto Bay across the previously mentioned river.
I retired to Paleto. Waiting on my condo in VC to be finished. Been a lot of setbacks but they're assuring it'll be ready next year.
I like Paleto bay a lot. For many years all my MC businesses were operating there so I had a reason to go back and fourth a lot
Love these type of vids brotha. Would love to see this type of video on Los Santos itself. Theres a lot going on in LS that only people who pay attention to the lore withen the game would know. Maybe also fort zancudo or the prison.
The Cluckin Bell factory NPC'S outside on break have some hilarious dialogue
Paleto Bay is the Hazzard County of San Andreas. Every time I go there, I feel like I'm going to see the General Lee speeding through town being chased by the cops who drive white patrol cars just like Rosco P. Coltrain and his officers do in the show.
Well, the Charger AND the white patrol cars are there. The theme of the show is even on the radio.
It was also hit by the recession. A sign on one of the closed businesses says this.
Of course! 2008, the Housing crash. I shoulda picked up on that.
In SP there is a random event where a NPC banker repossessing a foreclosed asset openly retches and vomits on the lawn upon the conditions of squalor the foreclosed on previous residents left the property in
The GTA V lore is very interesting indeed
These make me wanna drive around gtav
The bounty hunters update has alot of bale jumpers go to paleto bay, which makes sence as its ideal as a place to laylow. I myself bought a property there as roleplay for a "place to retire incase it all goes tits up".
I'm pretty sure the reason why the construction didn't finished in 2008 was because of economic crisis that happened in 2008 and the construction plan didn't recovered from it.
I cannot fathom if this is for real or not.
Crazy to me that decades down the road, Paleto Bay will be Night City.
Played this game so much that I forgot for one second it is a imaginary game and started to care about the development paleto needs.
They should’ve added a new city near the highway up north like a city from gta sa
I remember some people way back when were hoping to have San Fierro at the other end of the map.
I used to live there it was so much calmer then the city but I moved from it and now it’s just memories
Horses were going to be in the game but they were cut there is actually several voice lines for each character mentioning them
U just gave me a whole different perspective on the GTA 5 Map and I start to appreciate the small and large parts of the map that make it so amazing❤
Or just most people comes from LS for work. Like real life, people travel long distances just for work
Yeah. Michael's son works for me in Grapeseed.
@@TheRealRedAce lool
7:35 Horses were indeed meant to be in GTA 5, as they were going to be used in the scrapped Sharmoota Job as a getaway vehicle, and in the mission Lamar Down, which wasn't even meant to take place at the Sawmill, but rather the Del Perro car park, where Michael was going to arrive on a horse, and Trevor... a lazer jet.
Your production quality has improved significantly. 👍
Paleto lore at 00:38 in the morning chill af💯
Paleto Bay is underateded
I love these type of gta lore videos, thanks!
Corruption
I love Paleto Bay. Been living there since 2015.
why does the back of the car say "de ass"
The C, L, and E noped out of staying on the rear badging.
I like these cozy videos researching towns and locations in GTA 5
bro i like your content🤩
My grandma lives in Paleto bay, all though she lives far from where I live in vinewood hills I visit her every Sunday plus I like the scenery of the journey❤
This is my opinion but judging from playing the San Andreas map, I feel like paleto bay was more of a quick patch because the developers didn’t feel like doing San Fierro because really that’s what should be on the other side of mount Chiliad.
Mt. Chilliad in GTA SA and Mt. Chilliad in GTA 5 are based on 2 different mountain ranges.
Me: TODAY I WILL FALL ASLEEP AT 11PM !! That’s my word!
Also me at 3AM:
As a gta online veteran, I love these documentary style videos that you are making.
Who asked?
@@charlesli6751whale... Yell at me why dontcha?
A friend of mine has all businesses he could get out there in Paleto. First it was just to avoid griefers, which works great btw.
But over time, as he grew fond of his Character, he build quite the lore.
To me, Paleto still has this 90's charm. And yes, I miss that dearly.
0:47 i think thats a gta 4 reference it came out at the same year
Could be but probably not, doesn’t really tie GTA4 to it, if anything just the date is a reference if that’s what you mean.
Is Elmer Fudd narrating this?
No idea who that is, narration done by yours truly.
😂😂
I been laughing since i read thjs 😂
I’ve always liked Paleto. I try to keep my Online character “based” up there whenever new businesses and properties have it as an option. I think making your character the crime lord of the small town would be awesome.
@Falls have you found the aliens in paleto bay I no were they are and in morning you can hear clucking bell chicken make a rooster noise
Haven’t found them yet, currently investigating.
The town should really take advantage of the fact that its serviced by a highway. This lore is extremely interesting!
Paweto Bay Wore
I bought my businesses in GTA online just to view the beautiful mountain every time I spawn.
1:23 i feel like people forget lore wise los santos sandy shores and paleto are wayyyy bigger than their ingame size
I just found your channel today and I’m loving it. The vibe is so cool and your take on each location is amazing. Thank you
I love how the caption kept saying poo bay
I owned a house in Paleto Bay because I love doing long rides on my motorcycles. After I get tired of grinding for money, I would hop on my motorcycle and ride from the city. From there, I would either cruise around on a scooter, swim on the beach, or ride a bicycle around. It's like taking a break from all that chaos in Los Santos.
Best place to live and spawn when you retire from GTA Online and it is getting kind of gentrified nowadays with the bunkers, I don't want to spawn near Little Sudan at Eclipse or some other part of LS
Horses were meant to be in the game. There are audio files in the game for when you hit them with a car in story mode.
havent touch gta 5 in 1 year but i still watch these
This be hitting hard watchin this at 1:47am
i made my main home and businesses in Paleto Bay exactly because it's so remote, but mostly because i just like the small town atmosphere and trees in the area.
Whats strange is how the tallest peak on the island is right nextdoor but Paleto bay is just perfectly flat.
i now know more about paleto bay than my own city
Fun Fact: The transcript calls Paleto Bay. Poo Bay
Just food for thought- given your analysis of the infrastructure shows you could be an amazing civil manager.
When I played gta 5 online I literally downsized to the 6 car garage house in paleto just bc I loved the location. Rarely any players in a server on that side of the map.
you forgot to mention the few thousand people from liberty city who flew in and bought some of those houses for sale and are presently sharing them.
Resident of a small town here:
Another possibility for Paleto to stagnate as it did..
My favourite peice of the Entire game is in Paleto, the Chair lift,to get up Mt Chiliad, which used to operate, but only sometimes in certain Events.
Cool video but I think this is a case where depending on the background music and how you present certain things it could show a whole different vibe
I wish Paleto Bay was bigger man, such a good small town.
There's so many available businesses in Paleto, you could probably own almost the whole town. If far sales weren't practically impossible from Paleto I'd be so interested in buying them all up just to see how much of the town I could own.
this is so calm
My second character lives in Paleto Bay. I always liked it, but because my other characters only visited PB for work, I never got to really experience it in detail. Now that I have a character that lives there, I love it a whole lot more.
Horses definitely were going to be in the game. There’s files in the game for a horse model, horse sounds, character reactions to hitting horses, and even police radio files where they say if the character is riding a horse.
