@@thecybersecuritymindset Not entirely correct. We tried converting a security group to a mail enabled security group by converting it to universal and assigning it an email address. However, we still receive a "The email address you entered couldn't be found". Looks like you have to create these groups through Exchange, not AD

Yes it can. You have to assign it an email address.
