This is encouraging and it shows what can be done with "little."

I would like to see more reporting like this, instead of all of the negative and toxic political news. 👍

Amazing story to share, thank you. Displays human spirit in a way we seem to have forgotten, or possibly never thought about.

When I was very young I wanted to be a teacher in a one room school house or at least like my old fashioned grammar school. Then they all changed. I never became a school teacher but I ended up teaching banking in a one room school house. I also married a police officer and Detective for 38 years. My son and I just lost him after his dedicated service of 33 years.

Wish I were still teaching. What a delightful experience. I now live in a very isolated village in CO, but our school was closed. Now the kids travel round trip 50 mile to a different county, or they must travel 75 to a different state. Our old school building sits empty. Wish the kids were still here. Our road to the in state school has snow gates. Sometimes there can be no school for our kids.

I grew up in a similar situation. I'm content alone in the wild & self-reliant. I consider it a great upbringing. We didn't go to church, didn't learn team sports, so I have no interest in those now.

Why are people living in seclusion out there? Nothing around and yet the parents have jobs somewhere?

Cheap rent, and if you missed it - an Indian Reservation, so that's also a factor (the history of the US government putting Reservations on the most remote, marginal land is a well known aspect of the BIA - Bureau of Indian Affairs) into why the place exists..
Chances are, there are just enough part time jobs available to support that scant population or the people that do live there commute. It's not unheard of. I'm in the northeast and stories of businessmen commuting 4 and 5 hours each way to go to New York City aren't unusual.

      @@foodandart5808 4 and 5 hours?? I think that's a bit of an exaggeration.

@@JW-uy2on It's almost 5 hours to drive to New York City, and yes, there are mid-level executives that make the commute. Leave by 4 am, into the city by 9 - work until 5 and home by 10. Rinse and repeat.
