Glad that there are now exit numbers on the 315. I came down a few years ago, and they had only numbered them north of OSU. Then again, I can't really blame them, given the tidal wave of exits that arrives once you reach OSU...I think there may be an exit 1F somewhere along there? Great video as always, Jim!
Gets a like from me! I know these highways well! Lived in Columbus for nine months between Aug 1995 and Feb 1996- brings back memories of all the times I spent going to Columbus with family, my time in Columbus- nice ride and nice to see how much they have improved the highways somewhat!
HEY MY CITY! I watch your vids all the time and was surprised to see this come up on my subscription feed. Driving around that new loop had me sitting here like "OOOOHHH THATS HOW IT WORKS!" lol I always wondered how our freeways would look on your vids because to me they are uber fun to drive on.
People might think that Columbus with a population of over 830K would be quite big, but it actually doesn't look that big. On the highways, there are usually only 2 or 3 lanes on each side. Columbus is like Indianapolis with it's big city limits population, but not so big metro population compared to cities like St. Louis and Minneapolis.
Only on parts of I-70 in west Columbus and I-270 on the south side are there only two lanes in the same direction. And probably Route 104, too. Otherwise, it's a minimum of three lanes everywhere else.
Going the other way on I-70 east, there have been some changes: 1. The entrance ramp from S. 3rd Street has been closed permanently. 2. An exit ramp to Parsons Avenue has replaced the one at S. 18th Street, providing direct access to Children's Hospital. 3. In the future, when all is complete with the construction of The Split, Fulton Street will serve as exit from the westside, and an entrance ramp to the eastside.
cool seeing the changes in my hometown; have to admit, I do sometimes miss the merge or die ramps entering OH-315 SB in the Spring/Sandusky interchange
Having lived in the Columbus area for many years, but now gone for almost 15, it doesn't look they have much more done on the "loop" than when I was working at Nationwide downtown. Have your friend drive you around Germantown and enjoy a meal at one of the great German restaurants!
Actually they've done a ton of work already. They've just about finished the big 670-71 interchange rework, there's also another major project to straighten out that spaghetti mess of the 70-71 split planned to start soon.
Nice song choice since it's a late 1960s- to early 1970s county music and it looks like the I-670,I-71, & I-70 interchanges have been under construction since the late 2000s with new concrete pavement replacing the 1960s-1970s pavement
There were quite a few interesting loops, too bad (OSU) will have a reputation of housing a homicidal maniac at it's housing facility, but that was a nice touch of informational history. Nice ride again (Jim)!!
What a song! Probably the first time I ever really listened to the words. Nice ride too.
Thank you, yep that's a classic!
Great ride..The last time I drove through Columbus was 1989. Your camera videography was superb another great ride.
Thank you!
I was actually on some of these stretches a couple of months ago. It was fun to see this on line.
Even though I didn't grow up there, it will always feel like home. Thanks!
Hi Jim.I was able to watch this video on my iPad...great ride...Columbus Ohio is my birthplace..1958.
Thanks!
A lot more mid/highrises than I expected. Cool city!

Very nice collaboration work here, with a great soundtrack and scenery match.
Thanks, it was an odd choice for a soundtrack but it worked.
Thank you, I enjoyed this project very much. Jim is awesome to work with!

LOL, Thanks, glad you liked it and I'll have one more from Columbus this coming Monday.
Excellent video, and for a change, viewable on a mobile device. Bravo.
Thanks.

Hudaman Around the suburbs most of the highways are 4-5 lanes

love the music, especially how it resonates with the video!
Thank you!

The 70/71 interchange near the Main/Parsons is going through some... changes. The right lane of eastbound 70 is now the lane that leads to 71 north.

Ah man. You finally came thru and I didn't know it!! The city I call home.
Very cool, never been to Columbus but have friends there!
Thank you!
Simply pleasant drive!
Thanks!

Freewayjim The HighwayMan A double RUclipsr special, how nice. Like the music and the video & have a blessed day you two. Happy Veterans Day!
Justin Hundley Thank you Justin!
Where's The HighwayMan ?
Justin Hundley He did the notations and picked the route...I noted all that in the first frame after the opening theme.
I love this!!
Thank you!
Columbus is the 15th largest city in the US and yet people do not realize that. It's so sad. I've lived here for three years.
I never knew Columbus to be as big as it actually is. It's one of the largest cities in the country, but one might not realize it.
ITS the 14th biggest city in the united states..but ok
@Deniz Erdal No it's not. Where did you get that from?
My hometown!!!
Catching up on vids - nice ride guys
Thank you!

Awesome moody video. How many vids are we going to see from this neat city? I'm interested.
Thanks, just one more from Columbus next Monday.

Thank you!
I never liked Kenny Rogers as a kid but this stuff is chill.
Nice video!

That song is kinda dark but catchy
The University Of Ohio State is there also! Glorious scenery
Yes, we noted that and it's "Ohio State University". Thank you!
Freewayjim Colombus is a city with such scenery thank for sharing!
Whoo boy does some of that look a lot different in 2020.
Columbus’ freeways have always reminded me of Indianapolis’.. kinda boring ((dare I say))
Nothing really stands.. not memorable at all
I agree, good comparison.
1:48 Is that a helicopter
Yes
And I lived in Morrill Tower 2004-06. Only killed the ladies hearts though.
