Yes! 🙌
This is just what I needed to hear. There will never be "perfect time" to sew" - how true. I've noticed that even when I'm not feeling up to sewing, just going into my sewing room and puttering is soothing. Thank you.
Yes, take in that inspiration! You’ll know when it’s time for the next move. ✨
I love the way you do this ,step by step..calm..simple and honest..Thank you for your beautiful reminder..I can sew...but sometimes..my interest in it goes away..but your speech gives me more hope..to pursue my passion..I love to see when I put two pieces of cloth together..and something beautiful comes to the table..great mentor you are for seamstressers🇯🇲👑🎁🙏🏿
Thank you so much!
Great lessons for sewing and for life. Plus a nice one to listen /watch to on a Monday morning.
For life, yes! 💐
Hooray! Exactly! Just totally take your time to go through a project. Do not force yourself. As soon as you go through the steps/directions mentally you will be surprised…it begins to flow. It truly does. Make yourself happy. Is this self-centered? Nope.
Thank you so very much for this thoughtful reflection. Utterly true, comforting and practical advice to keep the small fire of sewing going. I won’t let it burn itself out! 🥰
Exactly! We need to fan those flames! 🕯️
Oh my... this has been on my mind lately. I have put off my own dream of sewing my own clothes for years now for many different reasons. I love the idea of setting the stage, that is a lovely way to look at it. Along with the ideas of taking that one small step and nourishing ourselves.... I am starting small, with easy to sew pieces, partly because I am losing weight. I have always said "when I lose weight, I will sew" and then I heard of the idea of adjustable clothing, and came across the Flint trousers and the clever way they open using the pocket... and so I have ideas now for making clothes that I like, if not perhaps even love, at least more than things I can find in the store... clothes that feel more like myself while I am becoming slimmer and fitter (& this year, I started that too, another act of self-nourishment, self-care).. and then the sewing, I hope, will be a way to encourage me to maintain the weightless. So, this really speaks to me! Thank you.... best, Lynne
Thank you for sharing this, Lynne, and I am happy to be able to offer any support I can. You have a clear plan in place and no time like the present! 💜🙏
Great advice. I'm back trying to sew after years of a break...and some sewing failures in between. I've learned now that it isn't a fast process, and I need to not pressure myself. Great advice on this. Sometimes I just go into my sewing area, and start poking around...and sometimes that helps.
Definitely not a fast process, you are so right! Starting small, no matter for how long, is great to build momentum!
Thank you for sharing this Cleo. Words escape me as to how hearing this is making a difference on Creating in my Sewing Room. Thank you again
You are so welcome!🙏
will listen to this everyime I feel down and untalented ❤ Thank you!
It’s in those small actions! 🙌✨
so grateful you came up in my feed, this is exactly the message I needed... it's honestly solid advice for every aspect of life, and your whole vibe is so soothing 💕
Grateful for you, and so happy this was helpful for you right now! ✨💜
After a long illness and lack of energy, this video got me started. The secret was your suggestion of taking little steps over a few days - I chose a Lutterloh pattern - not a quick option, but I set out my steps and, suddenly, everything went very smoothly. My blouse is not finished yet, but the end is in sight and that feels good.
Thank you again for your helpful video. 🌷
My pleasure, and so happy for you! 🥹
This is such a different video but oh soo inspirational. I really appreciate the points presented here n will def try them, esp taking the small steps
Thank you, I am so happy to hear this! ✨
This was really great and practical advice! Thank you for thinking of those of us who have to tuck everything away before the end of the night. A small step like just setting a pattern out or reading instructions counts towards progress!
Glad it was helpful! ✨💜
I quilt more than garment sew and the 'moving forward' message is esssential. One block on partial block at a time. Each step is self-care for the creative!
Most definitely! 💐
Sehr gute Hinweise
Vielen Dank!
Indeed,just what I needed to hear❤
I needed to hear this message….thank you.❤
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video. I needed it.
So glad it was useful! ✨
thank you... THIS VIDEO IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST FOR MOTIVATION...I needed to hear this. Currently my sewing table is a mess and covered with a sheet so I can't see it. (but I know what is lurking under there). A clear up is the first thing to do. One small step at a time.
One small step, yes! ✨💜
That was so relaxing listening to you. What great advice, thankyou
Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you! ☀️
That was really nice. Thank you for the lovely content.
Thank you so much! ✨
I enjoyed this video.
I realize indecision is the biggest obstacle. So if I can manage to ignore the millions of possible combinations and settle on a pattern/fabric combination and cut it out, then I find it easy to go from there.
The most productive period was after cutting out three garments in one go. They got sewn up relatively quickly for my crazy life.
If I could block out a FINITE amount of time to plan 3 garments per season, that could translate into 12 garments per year, which is more than enough for my lifestyle.
Seems a bit off topic, but your video got me thinking about how much time and energy I waste looking at other people's makes or scrolling around instead of focusing on the next step.
Or over planning, trying to work out all the steps in my head.
Taking one next step after the other is so much more productive!
Yes! Being able to plan ahead and know exactly what you want is key. 💜 As is batching the tasks (all cutting, then all interfacing, etc). Thank you for sharing your tips!
Def. hear you on how we can go down that path of too much scrolling, or too much on what others are making. On one hand, it is helpful info and inspiration. On the other, it turns into distraction and another way to avoid our own making! 😆
Beautifully said! Thankyou ❤
Thank *you*! 💐
This was so beautiful and exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you!! ❤️❤️
So glad to hear this! 💜🙏
Thank you so very much. I needed to here this.

Love hearing this, I am glad it is helpful! 💐
This is beautiful. I needed this thank you ❤
It is my absolute pleasure! 💐
Wonderful advice, for other things besides sewing too. Love the idea of 4 out of 7 days. That makes it look so much more positive. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I agree, can be applied in so many areas. Thank you for your kind words!
So relatable 😭
One step at a time… 🙏
Well said. Thank you so much.
You betcha, and thank *you*! ☀️
Great advice! Also I just LOVE your sewing space.
Thank you!! ✨💜
What great ideas, thank you
My absolute pleasure, and thank you! 💜
I find if I have a pattern cut out ready to sew it is much easier to sew little bits when I have time. At the moment my only block is finding a pants pattern to sew that will fit…
Cutting is a big step! And I hear you on pants, it can take time and experimentation. ✨
@Cleo Williams
Understanding a pattern is what's keeping me from not sewing. I used to sew and knit lots when my nan was here, it was how we connected and bonded. Nan taught me everything she knew. Unfortunately she passed, then my love for both of these hobbies got left in the dark. I got gifted a sewing machine in the prettiest pink colour. But I feel like starting again hurts, or just picking up where I left off seems to be the hard part. Reading my sewing patterns is what I struggle to get back into starting.🥺🩷🪡🧵
What wonderful memories! I do hear you on how picking up again can hurt. Consider starting fresh, something simple. 💜

Thank you 😊 🩷🌸🪡🧵🧶
That is what I do when I don't feel like getting my taxes together. I gather all the papers and set them on the table. Step 1 for the day. Then I look at the papers for a couple days. etc. etc. etc.
Haha, absolutely! It works for a lot of things! 😃
Great tips thanks ❤❤
My pleasure and thank you!
First of thank u for seeing we all have our "ow but i have so much to do, but i dont know where to start from... Nah ill get back to it some other day" day. And not criticizing us but rather showing its a normal. And the best of us have those days.
Although unrelated but i have a request to make- may i know the name of the music thats playing in the background i found that very soothing and was hoping to pop my headphones on the next time and go forward on my sewing/learing to sew journey.
Nevertheless, thank you in advance and hope u continue to have a blessed life ahead.
I am glad you asked! I used three songs in this order: Into the Clouds by Megan Wofford, Ambeddo by Franz Gordon, and The Untold by Ever So Blue.
Thanks!
You are so kind! I just now saw this--thank you so much! 🥹
Thank you
Of course!!
Thanks.
