Today I'm looking at all of the rumours linked with Liverpool so far this summer. Including: Leny Yoro, Eze, Ederson, Koopmeiners, Hincapie. Calafiori, Varela, Pacho, Geertruida, Kudus, Rodrygo, Summerville, Gordon, Frimpong, Nico Williams, Olmo & loads more!

The fact we werent in for Leny Yoro is mindblowing.. what a signing by United. Beginning to question what the point in bringing Michael Edwards back was if we're not going to make any moves
After learning how much Yoro costs, I think our transfer team was deterred by the transfer fee and wages. The dude is promising, but he costs 50 million plus close to 120,000 in weekly wages
We deff were in they just beat us to him probs offered him better wages then we could and he’s likely guaranteed starter for them not for us

I think it's because all our center backs are already right footed meaning we need a left footed like a califiori or smtn as van dyik, quansah, konate and Gomez are all right footed but it has been working because van dyik is still world class at the left centerback

As a Liverpool fan, this is the first time I can remember where I’m quite happy to have a quiet summer. We have quite a large squad at the moment. I’m already wondering who is going to form the front 3 alongside Salah. Can make arguments for Jota, Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo (also a lot of youth left in those options) so I certainly don’t think we need another attacking option.
I would definitely like us to go and sign a proper 6. As good as Endo was last season and as promising as Bajcetic is I think it’s clearly a weakness in our starting 11 and one where the age profile isn’t amazing. For the 8 positions we have Elliott, Jones, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister and Gravenberch all of which are under 25, so I can’t see the need for another 8.
We will need a Robertson replacement at some point, but I don’t think we need it right now, and I’m more than happy with Tsimikas and Gomez as cover. In Van Dijk, Gomez, Konate and Quansah I think we have enough at centre back. Trent and Bradley at right back I’m very happy with. If Kelleher leaves you may want a back up keeper but that’s about it.
We also have some great young players in havent mentioned such as Doak, Clark, Danns, Gordon and others who probably aren’t really ready this season but will get a few run outs.
Ultimately it’s going to be a transitional year anyway with a new manager and a young squad, I’d like to give the players we have a chance in the new system before we go and start signing new players.
Finally someone who understands!! Don’t understand why fans just want a signing when it clearly will obstruct the development of our young talents like Elliott, Jones, Quansah, Bradley, Carvalho, Van Den Berg, Bajcetic, Morton and Gravenberch whom all actually have a high ceiling. And considering that it’s going to be Slot’s first full season, the pressure will be off them and they can develop the best. Only signing that makes sense is a LB which depends on how Slot wants to play.
I agree about the “why didn’t we go for Cala/Yoro” shout, and quite like Varela too! Such a quiet window because Slot’s gonna have to evaluate all the new squad players, think we’re gonna see moves late, I also like the Koop and Guehi signings and really want Hincapie and Kudus

As a Liverpool fan, we already have Stefan Bajcetic. We don't need Varela or any other DM. We also have Virgil, Konate, Gomez and Sepp, we don't need another CB.
I think a lot of my fellow LFC fans, as well as media outlets, are going to be a bit frustrated by the lack of business we do in the window. It seems like most people involved with the club are really happy with the players we have, and the hiring of Slot was definitely intended in part to maximize their output. It’s funny seeing commenters saying it’s “crazy” and “a disgrace” that the club aren’t signing guys whose names they had never heard til a couple weeks ago. I hate to say it, but football doesn’t work like that.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love signings in one or two areas, and I get excited about bringing players in too, but I don’t think they’ll be the massive marquee signings people hope for, and we may not get much or any at all given the perceived strength of the squad by Edwards and Co.
Should've sort the current contract situations like Trent vandjk and Salah atleast. It's seems to me like there is no plan or long term thinking at all in this club past Edwards era. Trent situation should've dealt earlier not wait until his last year and cause him to change mind or overpay him to stay. And who are the long term replacements for these positions like CB, LB, DM,RW. There is no plan from Hughes to suggest that they are addressing this issue. Edwards has bigger fish to fry because he is there mainly to supervise the takeover of the second club for FSG. It's not the lack of signing it's the lack of activity that concerns me. We can't afford to be passive when all the other teams are getting better. This is not looking good
I think we definitely will sign someone, but I also think it's fair to wait for Slot to see all of his players to determine what he can do and where his weaknesses are and go from there.
The only signings we need is a back up GK and a new CB - but looks like we are using academy players and Sepp Van den berg who had a great season in the bundesliga.
So I'm not too bothered if we don't make a signing, just make a decision on VVD, Salah and TAA
LFC does not need many signings.They have excellent academy grads, loan or injury returnees who will compete for first team positions. Danns is a natural goalscorer (like Owen and Fowler were). Bajetic & Tyler Morton can fight to be that new 6. Van Den Berg can take the Matip spot. Carvalho is also back. Jaros is back too. McConnell, Clark, Scanlon, Owen Beck and Ben Doak are also contenders.
This season is an experimental one , Slot will try to make gems from the abundance of LFC kids.
A lot of those players will be loaned out it's niave to think otherwise. Also these players won't be able to just immediately do well and injury returnees haven't played for ages. We need signings don't fool yourself
my g we finished 3rd because our squad simply dint have the depth to compete.. we lost the europa, we should of won the prem if we went on a 8 game on undefeated spree. and lost the FA cup to man u out of all clubs. WE NEED TO BUY A DM AND WE NEED TO BUY A BACKUP CB
Not sure I totally agree - refreshing squads is essential. It is so much pressure on an academy player.
this is what FSG are hoping, but this is not what the club needs. we don't want to be a top 4 side, we want to be winners and winners don't do what you suggest. they don't just experiment for a year. Top 4 is a minimum, but we need to aim for the premier league title and for that I feel we need 4 players: Alan Varela, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Yohan Bakayoko & William Pacho. and if Kelleher is sold, I'd buy Justin Bijow.
we still need 1 or 2 top class players like Inacio, Ederson or Koopmeiners, the squad looks so thin after a few has left, relying on youngsters still not enough
Yea it will be a quieter summer. I think Slot has been impressed by Sepp Van Der Berg so I think he is going to take a bigger role this season so I think that's why we are out on Yoro. I trust Michael Edwards and co to do smart business. I think we may get a DM and a few pieces of depth.
We don't need to buy a DM, he have Endo and Bajcetic is now back from injury. Bajcetic has a huge ceiling.

@@KayaTezelit shouldn’t be surprising. We have a new manager during a window with international tournaments, Slot hasn’t even got to see his main team train yet. Don’t expect any transfers for another couple weeks at the least.
You are right it's not that surprising but it's also isn't how it should be. I know he doesn't have much time with the squad but there are obvious transfers that need to be made. Like a younger yet talented defensive midfielder Endo said it himself
Geertrude seems to be the ideal signing. Plays in RB, CM and DM, all positions that Liverpool need cover in. And he's played for Slott too

I agree that Calafiori should be one of the priority names we should aim for the LCB/LB slot, but history wise his injury record is concerning. He was mostly fit for the duration of last season, so his health concerns might be behind him, but who knows. Just trying to understand why we aren't really for him. I really like Colwill as well though it feels unrealistic, Inacio and Pacho could also be good (from the realistic options on the market).
For CDM - either Ederson, Varela or Joao Gomes for me. Ederson is probably the most mobile, looks the fastest and the strongest, but is not a typical CDM and is probably not the greatest passer. Varela is better at possession, but will be more expensive and has just one season in Europe, to me he is also kinda slow. Gomes at least has experience in PL and has the best defensive numbers out of the three, but his on the ball work is questionable. For the players we can aim for (outside of Rodri,Tchouameni etc) there isn't really a standout CDM, but I would be fairly content with the 3 players I mentioned above (Ederson, Varela, Gomes) despite their shortcomings in certain areas. Ederson slightly edges it, then Varela, then Gomes. After that is bleak and I don't consider Zubimendi, because he rejected Arsenal and Arteta, he clearly wants to stay in Spain.
RW cover would be great since it looks like Salah stays - Bakayoko, Gruda or Frimpong. All good, young and fairly cheaper options that won't demand a starting place or astronomical wages.
For the GK position - hopefully Kelleher stays, but if he leaves, I think Jaros could make the step up in being Liverpool N2 after Alisson. He had a very good season with Sturm Graz in Austria, so could become a good PL goalkeeper. Then who will be the 3rd choice doesn't really matter, but probably we need to buy someone experienced.
it looks like we getting Kubo for our RW backup. Ederson would be a great signing and same with Frimpong.
Good video Joe, couple of points I want to make.
1. Calafiori should be the priority, that Liverpool aren’t after him is a disgrace in itself, he should be very much Liverpool’s own Gvardiol. The perfect LB/CB hybrid that solves the issue of immediate cover for Virgil at LCB and as well as depth for CB with him being better than Gomez and Quansah and with Konate’s persistent injury issues should see lots of minutes at CB but most importantly should come in and start as LB. Would provide immediate suitability for Arne Slot’s system as part of a rest defence when Trent inverts and technically good enough to invert or advance himself, wins ground duels and is difficult to beat 1v1 and wins enough aerials for a LB with Virgil and Quansah/Konate which would have been a slight concern and area of improvement when in CB, that Liverpool are allowing Arsenal a free run at him is embarrassing, as I see Robertson having a similar trajectory to Fabinho two years with his legs going and Tsimikas not good enough for any team in the Prem’s top 10.
2. The other priority should be any of the DM’s (Zubimendi should be top but I don’t see him leaving Spain, both Varela and Ederson are good as well and should be priority on the list), personally for me would have been Ugarte who is a defensive monster, his only flaw being his use of the ball and range of passing but should be negated with Maca and Trent inverting in close proximity with him as he would only need medium circulation but defensively he’s off the charts and again just like with Calafiori I can’t believe Liverpool are not in for him and allowing United a free pass at him. They do need a DM, LB/CB and failure to get both positions sorted would result to a first bad season under Slot.

Calafiori is definately a good option to go for... But I don't think he can immediately come in and displace konate to pair VVD but Marc Guehi on the other hand can come in and immediately become a starter. Secondly, we still have Bajcetic who was a revelation before is injury and if slot can get him back to full fitness he could save us a fortune meanwhile we would still be have Wataru Endo if we must get a DM we need to go all out for someone better than ugarte who is most suited for a counter attacking team (slot love to play possession based football) someone like Joao never or alan Varela is preferable
@@oyetunjivictor1009 I get your point on Ugarte, but a DM is definitely needed, could be Ederson or Varela or Neves as you can’t pin your hopes on a 19 year old coming off a one year injury and not on a 31 year old Endo who is useful but should never be a first choice DM at Liverpool. On Calafiori though I totally disagree, remember your point on Slot’s system, then Calafiori should be perfect with Trent inverting, he should come in and start at LB immediately and as far as playing as a centre back is concerned, he is better than Quansah, Gomez and Sepp and with Konate’s frequent injury issues, he could still play lots of minutes at CB.
I think it was more the weekly wages and game time guarantee that made Yoro and unfeasible signing for LFC, but many fans don't want to accept that. The bottom line is LGC cannot pay an 18 yo with only 50-60 senior games more wages than half of the senior players. Robbo is only on $100k per week and Diaz makes far less. Cannot justify bringing him on for MU wages (reportedly $150k/week) with the wage structure currently in place.
Remember that Gordon knows that New castle were about to sell him. So, he knows that he is not the priority for them. Plus intrest from a club like Liverpool. Where he was as a kid.
It’s a strange window for Liverpool, between a new manager & international tournaments it’s significantly delayed any potential transfer business and I do mean potential because I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s no high profile signings. If we look at the squad by position how can Liverpool improve?
- attackers can be ruled out unless Diaz is sold or Salah says he wants to leave, neither seem likely.
- attacking midfielders like Olmo, Eze, Koopmeiners don’t make sense only a year after spending £60mil on Szoboszlai
- defensive midfielders are so expensive & limited. Varela for €70mil after one season in Europe? Atalanta won’t want to lose Ederson & Koopmeiners. Neves isn’t the solution as a 6, also crazy price. Ugarte & Zubimendi are the only ones that I think have the experience, quality, age profile & price that fit Liverpool but there’s been next to nothing for links & ugarte may go to United.
- centre backs also crazy expensive, we’ve just seen Yoro join United for a fee that may go up to £59mil & while it feels like Liverpool missed out I understand why at that price. Pacho 1 year in a top league would demand a similar price. Inacio €60mil release clause, not highly rated in Portugal defensively. I don’t even want to think about the price needed to sign a prem defender. Calafiori seems like the stand out who’s £40m price tag sounds too good to be true but again Liverpool are no where near & are just happy to see Arsenal sign him (or struggle too as it stands).
- left back is talked a lot for Liverpool fans who mostly want Aït-Nouri but there’s been no talks & no signs tsimikas or robbo will leave.
- goalkeeper remains & even here there’s been less links about a new back up if Kelleher leaves & instead promoting Jaros as 2nd choice. Which I think is the problem or potential solution for every position.
Could the likes of Morton, Bajcetic, den Berg, Beck, Jaros step up just like Quansah & Bradley? Absolutely. But should that risk be taken?
Not a Liverpool fan but for 70m euros and 150k p/w starting base, there's definitely better options at CB for Liverpool than Leny Yoro. He is for sure a decent talent and could well end up being worth the money if he becomes the player everyone believes he has the potential to be. However, he's still a decent way behind the likes of Scalvini, Inacio, Calafiori, Diomande, Silva, Murillo, Branthwaite, Colwill etc as far as young CB's go and while younger than them, basing off what he displayed last season in Ligue 1, he still looks a long way off being a Prem ready starting CB.

I do think Liverpool need to upgrade their CDM position. Endo has been good but need to upgrade that position to win CL or Premier Legaue. Sign Ederson from Atalanta. Class he is. Keep Endo for rotation.
Sign a new centre back in Inacio. Got a release clause I believe in 60 million. Is possible to sign for the owners if make profit from Phillips and Van Berg sales.
One final position May be not necessary is a new winger in Mohammed Kudus if we sell either Diaz or Gakpo ti freshen our attack up. Big potential there is In Kudus

Fsg is a penny pinching organization who thinks that Mike Edward is going to be able to do the same things. He was able to do 5 to 10 years ago but unfortunately that's not the case anymore because everybody is doing it. It's no longer an advantage. Liverpool was the number one selling shirt team in the world last year and are currently ranked second as a brand in the entire world next to real Madrid and yet we conduct ourselves like a mid-table premier League team at best
i think we should sell tsimikas and invest in a young left back cus we always have gomez and academy players if we really need. Robertson is 30 and his energy is a key part to his game, if he can’t give that intensity i can see him struggling, that on top of his injury issues last season we should look at a long term replacement soon
A LB and CDM is the priority right now. A CB and a attacker depends on who leaves but those two positions are NEEDED
The amount of people who say a CDM is the priority is ludicrous. We have arguably the best 19 year old CDM in world football who has just come back from injury, a player with a huge ceiling, the potential to be the heir apparent to Rodri in the Spain setup. That player is Stefan Bajcetic.
we need a Centreback, CDM, a Left back and a Winger/striker and maybe a backup goalkeeper to replace the following (no, not saying we sell all of these):
Matip, Robertson, Diaz Kelleher and Endo. in fact, I suggest we sell Diaz and Kelleher only.

Liverpool didn't feel it was right to pay 60+ million for an 18 year old or we would have been all over Yoro. it has been confirmed. Man utd have nothing but money to offer so they will pay what clubs ask for the player, Michael Edwards is smarter
Here’s a question about Yoro: do you think Madrid pushed less against Man U because they don’t see them as rivals any time soon? We as fans all feel so burned by Jude, and Tchouameni, and even like Mbappe to an extent and I think when we rival Madrid they see us as European rivals and so beating us to these signings is also strengthening their European position. Similar to Chelsea and Caicedo as well, I think seeing someone as a rival can be extra incentive to push for a signing over them and feel that Real Madrid might think:
“Sure, let him go to Man United and develop and get used to playing under pressure for 3-5 years then we’ll go for him again, Man United aren’t going to be challenging us in that time”

Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if LFC find it difficult to attract marquee signings this year if other top clubs are in the running. I think in demand prospects are going to be a little wary about a Klopp-less Liverpool and may want a season preview first. I think LFC will only buy 1-2 opportunistic signings this window - surprise good value talent that can be developed, but not the finished article.
As a Liverpool fan… Calafiori, Varela and Bakayoko would’ve been my preferred signings. However, Calafiori looks unrealistic now, but personally I like the look of Diomande or Inacio from sporting. Maybe Inacio as he could get minutes at left back if needed
Bro Vini does not have significant injury issues 😂 he missed less the two months. Reece James is significant injuries issues. Neymar is significant injury issues
The lack of signings isn't a concern just yet. Slot has just come in, he hasn't even met so many of the players that were playing Euros and Copa America. The decision to bring players in also depends on who's going out. Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo, Gravenberch are all players that need assessing. #6 is something everyone knows needs strengthening, but every other position will be based on who gets sold.

You are talking about defensive midfielders, however we already have Endo and you are forgetting, like many fans are forgetting, we already have a young player who has a huge ceiling and is back from injury now, those injuries being to his body growing, not because he's injury prone. That player is Stefan Bacjetic. He has the potential to be Rodri's heir apparent in the Spain setup. He needs minutes and will get them this year, so we don't need to buy a DM. As far as CB goes, we may need a left-footed CB, however it's not desperate. As far as CBs, we have Virgil, Konate, Gomez and Sepp, who was one of the best CBs in the Bundesliga last season. We don't need a CB. Saying that, if we were going to get a CB, I would want one with an eye for the future and so, with that in mind, Atalanta's Giorgio Scalvini is who I would go for.

Is no one excited about Morton ? I think he looks a talent to boss games with the match reading he has for a 20 yo is massive, I see him on the level with gray, like a good Scouse signing
honestly, a centre back and left back and i’d be happy. Konate is always injured so i’d like a bit more depth in CB then robertson has been injury prone in the last 18 months so i’d like a young prospect left back to eventually succeed him. The only other position i’d see us going for it a 6 but endo is great and bajcetic has world class potential. Tbh i don’t think we’ll compete for the league but i do think we’ll get top 4 comfortably, id rather save money for next summer when we know more who we need or if we need someone in January we’ll have the funds

@@joethomlinson_ i am but i’m also not, i trust our scouts we have no reason not to trust them, if they don’t think he’s worth 50m and madrid don’t think he’s worth 50m that to me is a sign he’s not a guaranteed success so especially at a club like united where a lot of players have flopped i wouldn’t get my hopes up, could be generational for sure tho
Do think we aren’t gonna sign Neves, but he is statistically really similar to Mats Wieffer which I think is one of the interesting things with Slot! And I think Ederson’s release clause is like 52M? Also Eze>Olmo every day of the week
Nice video Joe but as a Liverpool fan i would trade all those signings for just Isak or Watkins. We can have Left backs and LCBs and Midfielders but what’s the point if we don’t have a finisher. A #9 like Isak or Watkins would be my first priority.
We’ve got Quansah he’s unbelievable mate don’t need to spend 60million on a player that’s isn’t gonna have much minutes. Need a 6 as main priority for sure.
Our forwards are for the most part interchangeable left front right, complete forwards. Kvara would only strengthen that, especially if salah leaves

I appreciate trusting in our in-house depth at CB, but letting two of your biggest rivals get the two best CB/LB on the market is mind blowing to me

Liverpool did look at Yoro. BUT he wanted guaranteed first team football and at least 100k pw… he has only made 60 appearances for Lille he wasn’t worth 52 mill with 1 year left in n his contract… so Liverpool decided not make a bid and walk away… there is NO way Yoro should be classed as a priority signing we already have 4 players at CB

Really good video! Ive been saying for the last 12 months that zubimendi would be amazing in our squad and would suit the league! Frimpong at the price seems extremely reasonable and would offer minutes anywhere along the right! I do think we need another CB too but i dont think it should be a guaranteed starter we sign there because Quansah should be the one taking those minutes!
Ive seen recent links for Trent to Real Madrid but unless Rodrygo was part of that deal i dont think Liverpool would even consider it! I do not want to see Trent go would be the biggest mistake we make if we do.

Yoro signed for United, Calafiori is signing with Arsenal, Liverpool reportedly dropped out of the race for Edderson and Inacio, Rodrygo doesn't want to leave RM, Koopminers is 26-27, Guehi is not tall enough, so no earial threat, Nico Williams is Barcelona's priority.

It’s moot, no? Talking about LW is pointless unless Diaz leaves. Talking about RB is pointless unless Trent-Alexander-Arnold leaves. But, if either of them leave, it soon becomes top priority. So, now we talk about CM. But, that is moot, too.
I’m fully prepared for Liverpools villain arc. If we learn that Trent-Alexander-Arnold was husbanding his energy for a move to Real Madrid (during Klopps final year) then I say we pick up an extremely physical RB and Adrian Rabiot on short contracts and then direct all our energy at beating Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Relax liverpool fans. Signings will come I imagine that next summer will be a huge splash. We splashed the cash around last summer for klopps final year…. Klopps first full summer window is when he made signings… yes he came in after the summer window in the fall. However, this was a Euros year with a new coach. With a lot of new signings and people returning from injury who haven’t simply played. Like Gravenberch, Mac Alister, Bajetic(there’s your DM), a new Cody Gakpo, Quansha stats match Lenny Yoro as well. Why would we pay 60-70 mil for something we already have. Not to mention our youth academy lads(not saying they would start lol). Overall this needs to calm down. Arne Slot needs to evaluate his players im not worried at all. He has a squad that should finish top 4 already. A Salah understudy- replacement is the only thing I’m “worried about”. YNWA.

We do not need to spend that money on wages or fees for an unproven 18 year old from Ligue 1 - Whilst Konate has injury issues I do not see him as that large of an improvement on Quansah. United may be willing to throw that money at an 18 year old ; Liverpool has a decorum around wages and that transfer would've unsettled them.

Full time Liverpool fan here. My top three signings would be Joao Neves of course if we could grab him for 60-70 mil, Marc Guehi would be fantastic, but I doubt Crystal Palace would let him go for the 50 mil I would be willing to pay, and Ait Nouri at LB as a Tsimikas replacement.
