GAME 5 Preview:
Celtics (1-3) vs. Bulls (3-1)
We said this before, and we'll say it again:
Wow. What a series.
The Boston Celtics live to fight another day thanks to the buzzer beating midrange shot by Jacob Sims to win Game 4.
The game was back and forth throughout the whole first half, then the Bulls pushed their lead to 8. But, over the last 8 minutes of the 3rd quarter, the Celtics went on to outscore the Bulls by 16 and entered the final quarter with an 8 point lead of their own. They pushed it to 11 at their highest but the Bulls roared back and tied the game with :33 on the clock with a McDonald three.
Boston called timeout with the game tied at 110 apiece but their final play of the game quickly went off the rails due to the scrambling Chicago defense and they were forced into a rushed shot by Parish at the end of the shot clock. The botched play was salvaged by the hustle of Patrick Telfair, who dove into the paint to grab the offensive board with :08 on the game clock. He kicked it out to Rug Moncher who swung across the key and dished it out to Jacob Sims, who was momentarily open after Pace Mannion collapsed to help on Moncher's drive. Sims calmly rose up over the late-reacting Mannion and drilled the shot for the walk-off buzzer beater.
The Celtics leaned heavily on the sustained attacks by Patrick Telfair and Talen Parish-who both finished with 30+ points for the 4th time this year-with Telfair putting in 32 and Parish 31 to go along with his 20 rebounds.
It's got to be devastating for a team with championship aspirations to enter Game 4 down 0-3 in this surprising series, but they now live to fight another day.
