    For a sec I thought it actually had a v10 swap or something

    GM should have kept the K10 name, or just use the Silverado name like they're doing presently. Why use a V10 name when you have a V8 under the hood?

    • @vr4787
      @vr4787 8 месяцев назад +3

      I think he made a typo

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni 8 месяцев назад +6

      @vr4787 it's not a typo, the naming issue was from GM themselves. He explained that in the video.

      @@damilolaakanniGM used C/K designation from 1960-2002 for Chevy and GMC. They were never referred to as V10..

      @dudewheresmycar908 For 1987, it was renamed the R/V series (to accommodate the fourth-generation C/K marketed alongside it) and was gradually phased out through the 1991 model year.

      @@dudewheresmycar908 but i did consideration use a v10 viper ( clicked out of curiosity to see how that/viper/swap would have turned out ) or v6 ( or copying my 2gen charger's drivetrain aka 540ci hemi TR6070 but keeping the 4x4 function of my 1/2-ton-rig/Sierra vs charger's 2x4/RWD ) to a v12 diesel powered 1-ton swap but i give up the EPA/localities-government got me to comply, so BEV/lighting-cab-swap or something similar, as my truck got stolen/chopped 🤬 at least i got some of it back from the cop's/government and at least one thieving basterd got court 😉
      lifted wise my family's/mine was dealership delivered in 1985-87 with the 4-6 lift ( similar to video paint-ect interior is tan instead, so possible the truck in the video not to be modified at all or rather well dealership-spec-restoration ) and big tires ect as it was used for Idaho-roofing or my uncle's+gamp's-moms-side farm 1st and later on 1992~ for construction-steel/concrete commercial different-state 😉 and by 2000's-mine/high-school/driver-ed duty's by the time i/millennial generation started driving it was lower to sport-spec as dad/boomer was getting to old to hop-up-in 😉, but my restoration im going back-up/air-bag's ect

    I love the stance and color scheme. The interior looks nice and I like that it still has a two-post radio with original-style knobs. I always wanted one of these. It's fun to look down on traffic from a lifted truck.
    The C/K lines were renamed to R/V in 1987 to make room for the GMT400 C/K that was about to come out in 1988. Why GM didn't call it the C/K Classic or something like that, no one knows.

    • @gm12551
      @gm12551 8 месяцев назад

      I think they should have kept the C10/20 and when the 88’s came out they should have maintained a C/K 1500/2500.

    I'm here to thank you for using the proper chassis designation for this model year

  • @weegeemike

    GM started calling the square bodies "R/V" instead of the traditional C/K, because the "OBS" GMT400s started being produced in 1987 as 1988 models. I see the need for differentiating the trucks to avoid confusion, but they already had a difference in name. They could have used C/K 10/20/30 for the old trucks and C/K 1500/2500/3500 for the new 1988 GMT400 trucks. R/V is a horrible choice for name because this "V10" makes people think it has a V10 engine, as most people have no idea GM ever changed the naming system. That and R/V sounds like youre talking about a motorhome 😅.

    I prefer the 1967-1972 C-10 body style, but this is a nice truck.

      That's always been my favorite gen also, and the one before '60 to '66 are cool looking. I also have always liked the first half of the square body gen but this front clip on the second half is just ugly.

    What's it like driving an '87 Chevrolet V10?
    Exactly like driving a '73 Chevrolet K10.

    A bit of overlap with the new 1988 Chevy C/K/Silverado trucks that would be introduced in spring of that year. I was in college at the University of North Dakota in January 1987...and the local paper had an article about GM bringing the new Chevy trucks to ND for cold weather testing. The new design was kind of jarring considering the previous generation was introduced in 1973 with a mild refresh in 1981.

    Technically that low gear is bs because gm change it from 1-4 to L 1-3 during production in some trucks which was supposed to make you think you had a low gear when in reality it was just first gear
