Before I even watched the video I gave it a thumbs up because here you have a young lady who is into guns and wants to share the experience. What's not to like?

I have two I bought just before the law changed in MA , Dissent BR4 5.56 and BR4 9mm Ranch versions…. I absolutely love them…. Vortex Strike Eagle for glass…. Good luck with your gift and hope you enjoy it!!!
That side charging handle got my attention and that trigger reset seems to be perfect and it being Ambi is a plus ,the. 308 round is a full package round, Congratulations on your Christmas present

Nice rifle, CMMG makes some awesome tools for sure.🫡 I've got a couple of braced CMMG Banshee's in 10mm & 308 Win, I absolutely love them. The 12.5" 308 is a rowdy fire breather, but the 10mm is a super soft shooter.👊😁
.308 (7.62 X 51) is a powerful round (she kicks like sally the mule) . . . . that trigger ain't no joke (your expression says it all). CMMG is the truth! My .308 is a Ruger SFAR 16".
Love the CMMG Dissent, and thinking of getting a PDW version in the MK57. I will eventually want to get a .308 rifle, so I will be watching you with yours!

Wow what a nice rifle, that trigger reset looks sick. The 308 round is a great for hunting I have been using it for 20+ years good range, power and you can find it anywhere. Not really sure where or what you are hunting, but I an sure that will do the job. Thanks for sharing.
Banshee uses the traditional in line buffer and spring of AR15 design; Dissent uses offset buffer and spring. Two main differences to the user are the buffer tube and location of charging handle. Banshee is more traditional AR15 design and requires a buffer tube and has the charging handle on the top rear of the upper receiver. Dissent's design allows users to not have a buffer tube opening up additional options for folding stocks as displayed in this video. Dissent also changes the charging handle location to the proprietary hand guard which cannot be swapped out.
CMMG makes really innovative and good stuff. I have a CMMG 7.62×39 MK47 banshee pistol. In American flag cerakote. That I love. Your husband made a good choice. Love the content.

Lugging a heavy gun around in the woods all day, is not fun. So do you want the extra weight to the firearm other than an optic? When deer hunting the deer can smell you so remember to walk upwind, or crosswind. When walking crosswind you’ll see deer on your upwind side. The downwind side the deer will be aware of you, and you won’t see anything in that direction. Only you know what you can tolerate as far as recoil. The only time I’ve noticed recoil is when I’m at the range, I’ve never noticed it when shooting a deer. But I shoot a 30-06, which is only 10% more recoil than your 308 Winchester. Good luck if you choose to go hunting.
Triggertech diamond flat faced trigger will make that gun everything u wished it was out the box. I dont own a lower that doesn't have a TT diamond inside of it ar10s 15s dont matter they all get them the day i take em home. Hard to purchase a $3k gun and realize the trigger is subpar at best. My only gun i dislike is my Steyr Aug and thats simply cause the trigger is complete poop a doop. Only gun i purchased that im actually considering selling is that Aug usually when i buy a gun its til death do us part but that Aug might be my first divorce short of looking cool it serves no purpose when my other guns have a trigger weight of 1.25 pounds and it is closer to 8 or 9 pounds.... Should check out an arken gen 2 5x25. Have to say they put scopes 4x the price to shame. My 1st video saw a chick with a gun thought why not see what u have to say sounds like u read that manual u couldnt find. Sexy gun though.

With the muzzle brake, the recoil should not be too bad. It will just be loud, but not a problem with hearing protection.
