    Blue birds are one of my favourites.
    The one in the pot with water. Why doesn't it get root rot compared to the one in the soil?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 года назад +1

      The one with water have been dried and calloused off so everything is sealed. Only roots to come out of the plant and grow.
      The one in the peat moss could have bugs that bite different parts of the plant or have cuts that wasn't calloused and therefore susceptible to rotting when water was introduced or rained on..

    Your bluebirds are so beautiful Liz! How do you stress them to be such beautiful pinks? Mine are under a growlight and they are still a white blue look with no colourful tips.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 года назад

      All of these blue birds are grown in full sun with the exception of the two blue. I would have to say that the soil mix has a lot to do with it as well, as shown with the Peat Moss.
      RE your blue bird...It might have a lot to do with your grow light. The grow light I use has full spectrum. I just place the blue, blue bird for Kanya under the grow light for 8 days and it has turned pink.

    Have you ever beheaded a Topsy Turvy? I have one that's about 8inches thick and stacked 10 high. It's amazingly tall and I don't want to harm it? Thanks I really love your videos, beautiful Succulents and you give good info too!

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 года назад

      Never a Topsy Turvy because they're a prolific pupper. Sounds like your TT needs some more light if it's growing tall. More light exposure will in time grow it more compact but it's okay to behead it. Just that you'll lose the top head but hopefully more babies will pop out from the beheaded part.

      I learned from Liz. Its denatured alcohol mixed with a little bit of water. About a cup of denatured alcohol to about 2/3 cup water. It doesn't remove farina and I've used it on my succulents and tropical it works so well. Kills bugs and fungus mold etc. If u try it ul never use anything else again. Smells good too. I also spray the top of the soil in each plant kills gnats.

    • @bobbiechinn9578

      If u r unsure u can dilute it half and half Or more with water until u r comfortable with it. She has a vid on it too. Its about killing pests if u look thru her vids.

    why do the leaves keep pointing downwards?? what might be the reason? I have most commonly experienced this with my Sempeveriums...the top three to four rounds are up and the down ones point down as if they are looking for something..it looks weird.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 года назад +1

      They're growing halfway down the pot and trying to reach for the sun. Other top leaves are blocking them. Got nowhere to go so they try to go downwards.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  3 года назад

      I already have a few videos on how to color different succulents. Different species, varieties, cultivars will color differently. Some will color in the shade, some will color in the sun. Some will color in different season. Some will color better in different soil mixture as shown in this video. To put that all in one video will be almost impossible.
      To find out the different how, It's best to watch my vlog videos for small info on different plants and also specific plant variety like this video.

    Hi Liz, I absolutely adore your succulent garden madness! I wanted to ask if you know how to keep a blue bird - mostly blue (without so much pink) but still healthy and growing?
    I grow indoors with a grow light so mine is gradually starting to get more and more pink to my dismay, it’s a conundrum cause i really love blue succulents but i’d also want it to be healthy. 😂
    if the pink cannot be helped for a healthy succulent then would you have a recommendation succulent that is blue when stressed? I keep getting catfished by those beautiful images of really blue succulents 😂
    thank you ☺️

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 года назад +2

      I have a couple growing in the shade that's blue but leggy like the ones in this video.
      No need to stressed a plant to make them blue. There are a lot of succulents that will stay blue depending on the season, dormancy, temperature, location and specific species, hybrids and cultivars. I have shown a lot of examples in my videos. Echeveria colorata, chihuahuaensis, opalina, sedum clavatum, sedum comic tom ......just to name a few.
