Very helpful video along with the Ps companion and your other Topaz videos. I really appreciate your taking the time to figure out best practices/workflow for the Topaz products in conjunction with the Adobe suite and producing your Topaz series videos. I picked up shortly after buying into Topaz that image edits before using them issues and/or inconsistent results (but at the same time realizing that not all images are the same and some just aren't gonna work out well; although I've had some success with 80 year old b&w's in varying states of neglect). But, I couldn't find much out there explaining the intricacies of how to get the most out of them until I started watching your videos on the subject. I look forward to implementing your wisdom and your forthcoming updated series. Thank you very much.

FWIW, the latest version of Photo AI (haven't tried DeNoise AI yet) allows you to send a copy of the DNG directly from Lightroom and then, after processing, to write the output file in DNG format. However, from my experience, it's completely buggy; not only does it seem to ignore and "lose" metadata, but the integrated denoising process introduced hundreds of digital artifacts and even a large blue/magenta blob into the image, while doing the usual process of sending it to Photo AI as a TIFF copy worked fine.

Anthony, great video very useful, thanks. What about if you are batch editing several images in Denoise AI. I shoot sports and often will batch edit thru Denoise AI or Photo AI sending 100 images at one time. Is this a good way and does denoise change in each image automatically? A video would be great for batch processing. Thanks so much

I wonder what to do when you want to denoise AND sharpen an image. How to do that ? First send it to Sharpen AI, and then send the result to Denoise AI, or the other way around. I take it denoise first, and don't use any sharpening in Denoise AI ?
Please let me know how you would do it :)

I've watched your other videos on Denoise AI and you consistently recommend not cropping before using the program. I also saw a series of videos put out by Topaz Labs and they don't seem to have any compunction about cropping prior to using Denoise AI. What is it exactly you're seeing the software developers are not? The video host was a good photographer and competent editor. His adjustments all produced good looking images. I commented on his cropping first and his response was that it makes no difference when you crop. The other noise enhancing adjustments you mentioned, yes. That is more of an issue. I'd be curious to know your reason for your recommendation. Thanks. BTW: I've been using Topaz Labs software for a couple of years, now. As a matter of fact, I bought them after watching your videos. So, thanks for all the useful info.

I have seen other sources say to not crop before using topaz products. Their reasoning is that the program works better with the more pixels it has- even if it's something you don't want in final product. I'm new to using the software and can't make any comment on how much of a difference it makes.

    • @shipmodelguy

@@uhoh7541 I've done both pre and post AI treatment for the last couple of years. And it may be true that in the earlier versions of the app, it needed all the information it could get. But, over the time I've used it, it seems to have gotten more responsive, refined and maybe even more intelligent. In truth, I haven't seen any noticeable difference in the final result-pre or post. So, on this point, I'm going with the guys who actually developed the program.
The only place where it MAY be more critical MIGHT be if you are using RAW files directly in Denoise (not as a plug-in). Again, this is me just surmising.

@@shipmodelguy i appreciate the post/reply. the instructions topaz photo AI gives me doesn't actually even work properly and it seems their advice contradicts most of the YT photographers that post editing videos. In my experience when things like this happen, usually the truth lies somewhere between both sources.
I need to play with topaz more, but need my RAM upgrade installed first. It seems to handle first photo fine, but gets painfully sluggish afterwards.

1.white fringing of image after processing in DN and
    2. Failure of software to return processed image to LR. The image is processed just not available in LR. Because if I export it from LR it shows DN edits and white fringing(sometimes).
Any thoughts appreciated. Have tried obvious like reloading software.

This is the basic flow I already use, and so it's good to see that others do too! Question for you Mr. Morganti: is there a way to batch-edit images from LR to Topaz? I can run an entire sequence of raw files directly through Topaz, but then I lose the ability to later add the corrective lens and camera profiles. Within LR it would be extremely useful, for example, to explore every image shot at ISO 3200 or above to Topaz and back again. In many cases I'd accept defaults from Topaz in exchange for ease of workflow when editing large numbers of files (e.g. 50 images shot on a dark dance floor at high ISO).

I always crop before sending to denoise Ai, the reason for this is, I believe or should I say thought, that if you crop after using denoise then wouldn’t you be alternating the the pixels and that would start bringing noise back into the image ?
