Nice honest review. Looks to be a great stable platform but heavy as you mentioned. Under seat storage for me would be tackle gear, landing net and bump board.
There is a under seat mod I will be doing soon to keep the tackle boxes from sliding around and I believe that’s all I’ll be doing for now. It’s definitely the perfect kayak for me.
Have the same yak. It’s RAD! Lots of room stable as can be but the locking in place of the drive is junk. Needs a clip on the back of the drive instead of a screw in bolts. Put a Newport vessels trolling motor and a railblazza trolling mount with boondox landing gear. It’s a bass machine! Would recommend this yak for bigger guys. PUT A MOTOR ON THIS YAK. Going to try the Suzuki 2.5 30 inch shaft in the future. Also the front hatch makes for a great place to store battery. Have a x power northstar group 78 fits perfect and runs hard for 10+ hours.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I've since have moved on from the kayak and am currently using a Hobie Pro Angler but as stabile as this big fish is i would feel comfortable taking it offshore.
@@ProjectReel Ok a Hobie very nice i a have always heard good reviews on them. I am currently stuck between the Bigfish 108 and OldTown sportsman 120 PDL. @ 6' 4" both seem to my liking for size. Thanks for your reply.
So I have a big fish 120 and absolutely love it but want to get a pdl 108 as well and I have been seeing horror stories about them in forums about the floor board pulling out of the plastic and cracking the plastic into the hull, also guys saying there are thin spots in the kayak that break and leak, but my question is have you had any issues with your 108 of any kind, cause I really want to get one but I'm a bit nervous about it after reading review forums so any Information would help me greatly, also looking at old town sportsmen 120 pdl but not sure if it's as stable as my big fish 120
@@wbhotboybg great questions. I did not keep this kayak very long. Is it stable? Yes probably one of the most stable kayaks I’ve been on but what led me to move on was the quality of the drive, rudder and other parts. There are too many kinks to work out even if you buy it brand new and I feel this is something a customer should not have to deal with even on a new kayak. Would I recommend to a first time buyer…..No, maybe a more experienced kayaker willing to mod it.
Thankfully your review is infinitely better than your shoe choice ;). Just kidding. Appreciate the review, brother. I have been hunting Yaks, and this review has me sold. My order is in.
Nice Video. I am in the Market for a new Kayak with Pedals. Can I ask you how do you transport it and what kind of cart do you use to move it around? Thanks
Bruce Kostecka thank you for watching. I use my pickup truck to transport it and to move it I use a cart I bought on amazon. Highly recommend buying the wilderness systems kayak cart for this specific kayak.

Thanks for touching on that. There are two scupper holes in the tank well like you said there are also scupper holes under the plastic flooring by the seating/standing area and the storage in the front also has a hole which also happens to be where the transducer mount is
@@willbill2209 yea if you flip the kayak over you’ll see the scupper holes. To see them from the sitting you’ll have to remove the plastic cover on the floor
You would absolutely be comfortable. I’m under six feet and I have to have the seating position in the closest one, if I set it all the way back anyone close to 7ft can pedal this thing no problem. You definitely won’t be disappointed
Hows it going im looking at getting a 108 myself but i normally go btb do you think in low seat position it could take on a bigger sea chop and also how fast does it go normal peddle speed? 3 to 5 mph would be good
Thai Yak fishing it would definitely be better to handle the chop in the low seating position but to answer that question would recommend looking at Aliex Folgueira channel so you can get a better idea. Peddle speed she can probably go about 3 mph, a little after is you really tried.
Man That is a nice stable kayak you got. You can see how windy it was and the kayak was not rocking. A couple questions? #1. Did it pedal pretty easy against the wind.& #2. Are the pedals pretty smooth and wide to Pedal barefooted 👣. I have big very very wide feet sz15 6 EEEEEE wide with very fat wide toe that are equally straight across making the foot very very extremely wide. I have to kayak Barefooted 👣 because they do not make a shoe , sock , or boot that is wide enough for a foot that is 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. The last pedal drive kayak I tried the pedals was so small my foot would not stay on the pedal. I also like your crocs man. I used to have a pair of those. I had to cut a section out in the toe box on each crocs for both of my little toes to hang out of the Crocs because my foot is so wide. It look very funny seeing a fat wide toe sticking out of the crocs. A lot of people laughed about that. But it was the only closed toes footwear that would barely fits on my foot. I don't know if my foot got wider or the Crocs shrunk but they don't fit me no more. I need to try to get me another pair I hear they are comfortable to wear for kayaking. I have to kayak Barefooted 👣 all the time. Great video thank you for sharing.
Crocs are awesome to wear on the kayak, I’ve tried other water shoes and not comfortable at all. I have a wide foot as well, maybe not as wide as yours but I do have trouble finding a decent shoe to wear. To answer your questions yes it was easy to pedal in the wind. The ideals seem like your standard width bicycle pedals. I choose to pedal with the crocs on for grip but you can definitely do without.
@@ProjectReel that's what I hear man Crocs are very comfortable to wear. Oh you have wide feet too. Yes trust me you do not want this widths. Oh you have trouble finding shoes to wear too. Man it is so frustrating. But I take it you can least find something. I can't find nothing for me. I think if my toes were at a 45 degree angle like everybody else's toes I might be able to find something. But with them being equally straight across I can't find nothing. I barely can find a pair of flip-flops to fit my foot. But I'm going to have to check out these Crocs man. I appreciate the information on those pedals. I am looking to upgrade so. Thank you man I appreciate it. Great Channel you got I've been checking out some of your video. Keep up the good work.

Apologies for the late reply, I never got water in the hull, kayak was solid .
How about for a 6ft 260 do you think I would be okay in this
Where does the water exit if it gets in the kayak? I know it has two scuppers in the back where you store your milk crate but what about the front?

Why is the drive so squeaky?
Is the propeller metal or plastic?
Plastic
Nice guys👍👍👍👍👍
how do you transport this big kayak?
Fits on the bed of my pick up truck. I just strap it down and go.
@@ProjectReel will a roof rack work?
Yes, have a friend with a small VW Golf and he uses a rod rack to transport his.
I am sure it would paddle easier if the pedal drive was removed or lifted out of the water.
Yes definitely easier to paddle without the drive in the water
