I've just ridden to Sa Calobre. This descent is sick! I think it was one of best moments in my cycling life. Literally, I got goosebumps watching this video and recalling how it was 5 hours ago 😳
This has been one of my favorite videos of all time. I don't have a lot of nice places to ride where I live, thanks for sharing a bit of true cycling footage. It really made me happy.
Great video! Good to hear the "car up" and "steep bend" warnings like. We do that in our club too. It is damn useful. Also how scary when the cars suddenly emerge from a corner :O
Who else watched that with gritted teeth, swaying back and left/right? I am so drained I'd better have another beer. The music was really well matched, I thought. It always is on GCN really, but this time I appreciated it even more, probably because I had worked so hard on the descentm
I'm in a wheelchair because I shattered my foot AND we're on lockdow due to COVID. Watching your video w/all of the lights off was the most fun I've had in weeks.
Enjoyed this! More of these "GCN rides" videos would be greatly appreciated, don't think I'm alone in thinking that. Having all your how-to-videos etc are great but seeing you guys just getting out there and ride, like the rest of us, is actually very enjoyable.
Points of View ?? tho i googled 'bikeporn' the other day.....purely out of curiosity after watching a GCN video with Mr Simon Richardson and the sights...
That was awesome! And super scary! I would burn through my brake pads, sh*t my pants, threw my bike away and walk down on my feet just after first kilometer.
I've done this road three days ago. Alcudia - Sa Calobra - Alcudia. Over 100k for my 40th birthday. It was absolutely epic ride!! Epic views, epic climbing and descending! Cheers and big thanks to my mate Mike (I've met him at the bottom and done all the trip).
Great skill. One of my favorite descents too, but I've never been so lucky with the traffic as you guys. Only 1 car to overtake and only about 10 cars going uphill (and no busses at all) would improve my time too.
I've done this. Did it early in the morning so as to avoid any traffic. My mate got out of the car at the top and realised that he'd forgotten his helmet and had to go down without one.. Not that it would do you much good going at those speeds. It's a dead end at the bottom, so as much of a buzz as the descent is, it's at the back of your mind that you've got to cycle back up it! Which is also a great experience if you have the legs. Truly, one of cycling's greatest roads.
Valberg down through the gorge along the D28 to the River Var in South-East France. As spectacular and exhilarating downhill as you'd want. Not silly steep, not ultra fast but relaxed high speeds on lovely smooth roads for about 12 miles. If you ever get the chance, do it, truly stunning!
Love the descending videos! Every "epic climb" video Im always craving the descent as well, at least a short montage of the descent will tickle the adrenaline junkie in some of us. More descents please! and with speed data. Great video, great channel!
This is so cool!! It's not about how fast you go or how much power you're using or so. I think it's if you're having fun or not that's important and man you guys were having so much fun !! I'm a bit jealous lol
So cool, I had to watch it twice! The only thing to make this video better would be to have an overlay with speed, gradient, and altitude ? Everyone loves a bit of data :D
So much better than the previous descent videos which I found pretty antiseptic. Whoops and comments throughout make it more akin to what we'd all be thinking on the way down, though probably with fewer expletives...
Wow! Awesome! Thanks Matt and Si!!! Can you add data to this video? It would be great to see your speed displayed in a corner of the screen as you descend.
Awesome descent and a great video of it. I did the Mt Spokane descent a couple weeks ago, just over 1,000m in about 20k. Not as epic as this, but a ton of fun to come down. Just takes some effort on the ascent, but the descent makes it worth while. =)
for all of the wonderful competitions that GCN has going at the moment, a trip to the top of Sa Calobra so that we can experience this descent first hand would be more than epic.
www.strava.com/segments/842307 Simon either didn't Strava this ride, or his data didn't match up with this segment, because it says he's never done it.
A speed indicator would be cool to see
nah, it would be in kph and I wouldn't understand it.
Jeff K Too bad m8, you would need to pause it every 2 seconds and use a coverter :)
I changed my Garmin to Kph once and realised I spent so much time trying to do maths that it was becoming dangerous. #whenMathsGetsDangerous
They are embarrassed to show you...
Just go with it. You'll get it in the end. Remember, Imperial belongs with the Empire i.e. dead and gone.
I usually only watch amateur POVs but this was pretty good too
Amateur POVs ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I wish Si was a sports comentator. *Contador starts descending* Si: "Wooooooooooo! Yaaaaaay! Whaaat a corner!"
This has been one of my favorite videos of all time. I don't have a lot of nice places to ride where I live, thanks for sharing a bit of true cycling footage. It really made me happy.
When I grow up I want to be like Matt Stevens calm, collected, stylish and fast!!!!
Don't forget the amazing hair.
+Niels Heldens and lack of ability to clip in and out
I don't want to be like Matt Stevens when i grow up i want to be greater than him. no offense at all to Matt.
And can't clip in. And afraid of logs. Apart from that yes, so do I.
Seems like a cool guy though want to become national champion like him
Si yelling "Car"! Took me back to my childhood playing ball in the streets
You should have data displayed on screen. Speed, cadence, power, etc.
Awesome for training session on the rollers!!! Down side - nearly fell trying to dodge the goats.
Riding up Sa Calobra is defiantly on my bucket list!
nothing ever goes on the bucket list easily! :)
It took me about 14 minutes downhill sa calobra and 50 minutes to cycle all the way up
this is why i love climbing.... the reward of a solid descent
It's great to see Simon waiting for Matt to clip in. What a gentleman
Thank you for keeping a lot of this just raw footage. I wish there were descents like this where I live.
Great video! Good to hear the "car up" and "steep bend" warnings like. We do that in our club too. It is damn useful. Also how scary when the cars suddenly emerge from a corner :O
Love GCN show. I like most every show but this one will stand out to me. Two guys bombing down a hill and enjoying it. Great job.
More videos like this, please. Also, a speed indicator along-side would be fantastic as well.
This is one of the most exciting videos that I have seen on RUclips!!! Outstanding!!!
that wonderful carbon braking sound.
Its like when you 1st hear an electric gear change and WTF was that whilst the node in the heart cataclysmically erupts!
Loving the braking sounds! Good save Matt!
This was by far the most exciting video I have watched on RUclips!!! Great job!!!
that brought back fond memories. Proof in that is my big grin watching the whole video! Thanks guys, can't wait to go back again!
I'm not sure I blinked for 12min.... Great video! Thank you!
Who else watched that with gritted teeth, swaying back and left/right? I am so drained I'd better have another beer.
The music was really well matched, I thought. It always is on GCN really, but this time I appreciated it even more, probably because I had worked so hard on the descentm
One of the best road bike POV vids I've seen so far! That was amazing. Awesome job. You crazy dudes even passed a car!! That was epic.
The most thrilling video to date. Loved it! Keep up the great work guys.
Matt and Simon, you two have the best job in the world :)
That was badass. No other words to properly describe it.
that was awesome!! almost like being there in person :)
I'm in a wheelchair because I shattered my foot AND we're on lockdow due to COVID. Watching your video w/all of the lights off was the most fun I've had in weeks.

Whenever I see the word POV, I think of something completely different.
Not to be pedantic it should be PoV, which always spoils it for me when I'm erm "something completely different"
+EdgeOfSanity yeah that!
Points of View ?? tho i googled 'bikeporn' the other day.....purely out of curiosity after watching a GCN video with Mr Simon Richardson and the sights...
PoV = Penis on Vagina
Pint of Vodka anyone?
New favorite GCN video. Well done, guys.
This is so sick man, the scenery looks amazing!
That was awesome! And super scary! I would burn through my brake pads, sh*t my pants, threw my bike away and walk down on my feet just after first kilometer.
One of the best movie on GCN! :)))))
My ears popped just watching that, absolute epic!
I live 6 km from Sa Calobra, wish I'd known you guys were here, I love GCN! Xxx
This was so relaxing to watch. Great video!
Who said Matt Stephens was clumsy?? Showed some classy skills on this decent!! Well done Si & Matt.
That looked brilliant.
Great to see Matt on a red bike again, red is his colour.
Awesome! adrenaline shot through my entire brain and body even when sitting down! Great vid!!!!! *O*

that was just too cool I'm going to have to watch that again
Wheeee! That looked like so much fun! Thanks for sharing.
Sweet! i caught myself anticipating the turns, and after the 3rd or 4th time Simon said car I was saying it also. Even when there weren't any cars
Yesssss! Epic! Thanks for reminding me to return there one day!
Great skill. One of my favorite descents too, but I've never been so lucky with the traffic as you guys. Only 1 car to overtake and only about 10 cars going uphill (and no busses at all) would improve my time too.
After so much heat and pressure on those rims you should probably check for little diamonds. I want to go there. Great vid GCN
Awesome!!! And what a beautiful place, too.
Love this video. I'm sharing it on my FB now!
Good job guys! Awesome video!
First part look pretty quick to me.Done it many a time.Great vid lads

Truly, one of cycling's greatest roads.
This is where discs shine. Don't have to worry about burning up those nice carbon rims. Love mine
are you on chinese knockoff carbon wheels from 2004?

amazing, thoroughly enjoyed that
That looked like so much fun! Whoever edited this video did a great job. Virtual post ride coffee to GCN.
Great descent gcn,
coming soon my ascent and descent Ventoux 2016 TDF
Awesome video! Keep up a good job guys!
9:19 beautiful feature!
Nice bird following you all the way down and making the "cra". Spot on ;)
savage video guys some scary moments. more like this please.
Love the descending videos! Every "epic climb" video Im always craving the descent as well, at least a short montage of the descent will tickle the adrenaline junkie in some of us. More descents please! and with speed data. Great video, great channel!
Did you ever notice how the cars always seem to be there for you when you are entering a hairpin turn? :)
Love this video. Si is like a whippet.
Goat on the road! Cue music.
Matt finally managed to clip in at 3:50
Amazing descent, the speed very nice, in brazil, there are a road similar to the this!
This is so cool!! It's not about how fast you go or how much power you're using or so. I think it's if you're having fun or not that's important and man you guys were having so much fun !! I'm a bit jealous lol

great video for explaing the vanishing point
*that sci-fi space whistle when braking hard* love it
With commentary, this could be turned into instructional video on descend. Excellent.
That was a beautiful descent! Awesome video!
Did this in the rain in April, took me forever.. was quite crazy seeing the climb for the first time!
So much better than the previous descent videos which I found pretty antiseptic. Whoops and comments throughout make it more akin to what we'd all be thinking on the way down, though probably with fewer expletives...
Looks like guys had fun. Seems I have to try it next year too.
Huh, I've seen some cycling and porsche video's on spain now and have to say it looks pretty awesome.
Possibly my favourite ever GCN vid. More of these please.
Wow! Awesome! Thanks Matt and Si!!! Can you add data to this video? It would be great to see your speed displayed in a corner of the screen as you descend.
Beautiful ride, so jealous of descents like that when all that's near me is corn and more corn.
Well that made my palms sweat! Great ride.
GOATS IN THE ROAAADDD!!
love si's commentary
That looks like a cracking good time!!!
amazing!! I wore a VR and cycled all the way down with you !!!!!!!
One for the extreme corner lads!! Awesome! #GCNXtreme
Holy @#$%%! Looks like you two thoroughly enjoyed that. I'd like to do that on my recumbent trike. It wouldn't be that fast, but it would sure be fun!
Awesome descent and a great video of it. I did the Mt Spokane descent a couple weeks ago, just over 1,000m in about 20k. Not as epic as this, but a ton of fun to come down. Just takes some effort on the ascent, but the descent makes it worth while. =)
That was great to watch, makes me wish I was a more confident descender.
What an amazing descent!
I’ve been here, it’s hairy. And watch out for the Mallorcan wild goats!
Anyone else leaning with them on the way down?
Oh god, you too? I was cringing a fair bit too!
Great video guys. Thanks for the insight. I am probably gonna get dead descending or ascending that in July.
WOW!! What a great video. GCN needs to save some pennies and do some filming at the Tour Down Under next January ... please. :-)
for all of the wonderful competitions that GCN has going at the moment, a trip to the top of Sa Calobra so that we can experience this descent first hand would be more than epic.
Very exciting. Wonder if you can make individual continuous non-cut versions from each of your cam. It would be very nice.
WOW that was incredible . a one of a kind experience :)
luciu constantin unless you do it again of course
That was pretty inspiring to watch!
Is there a Strava segment for this ascent/descent? Just curious to look at it topography.
www.strava.com/segments/842307
Simon either didn't Strava this ride, or his data didn't match up with this segment, because it says he's never done it.
