Beside the obvious and great 3D object track solution that it is, it seems like a viable solution for planar tracker in the phone/tablet case scenario when hands and fingers crossing cause subtle vibrations that Mocha can't handle properly because of occlusion. Thanks!

Thanks for this. The one issue I see cropping up for all of these instructional videos is the actor movement is incredibly slow and not representative of what an actual scene would be. It would be great if you could do a follow-up with natural human movement, turns, profile angles, walking...etc
Got you! My issue is that I need to show examples that are easy to understand an to watch... but I will definitely try to also incorporate more "real world" examples!! Btw: the tracker does a really good job for fast moves or even 360° spins... you just need a few more keyframes
3d models are flickering and disappearing and original clip keeps flickering and cutting when rendering, in preview in after effects, perfectly fine, when rendering, everything goes haywire, any ideas anyone?
Any idea why the analysing footage is taking forever? Its been 10+ minutes and its only at 22% this isn't right, i have a 3090ti gpu and a ryzen 9 3950x cpu, is it really this slow of analysing before i can use the toolbar to track the footage with my object?
Hey, how long is your footage? And in which resolution? 10minutes for 22%... so about 45 mins for a whole shot... could be... my shot of 10 seconds took about 5mins though..

Tracker wirks in all version. But rhe native 3d Import only worls in the beta... you could for example use every Version for the tracker and then use Element3D. But the beta is for free if you already have AE installed 😎

Well... maybe because you can use 3D models in trapcode, for example trapcode form... but of course you can also use it natively now in the beta or in other 3D software! Hope that helps
i have a query, you used a skull for your tracking so seperating the jaw part was easy but what if i want to use an actual face model.....so, do we have something for that as well? like can we use the rigs for it or something?
Hey, for the tracking there is a model of a face already built in where you can enable all different parts of the head! And you find the same head for free as a 3D model in the internet! ;)

You mean the footage of me sitting in front of a camera? Hey, you know what... I can not think of any smartphone that is not capable of doing that! And second: believe me, you will learn a lot more if you take the time to shoot it yourself! 😎
Looks like the glb files cannot be imported anymore, maybe in future updates, but for now, it is not possible anymore, I used obj with E3D, then created a null from 3d object and parent the position/rotation etc.

Update. I could not find the glb file but I was able to download a cool gilt file of a different skull. Now new problem, I followed you steps to export the 3d null but for some reason the null goes way off the working area. After switching thought the different views, in the "left view" I realized that the null was way in front the video layer so when I parent the skull with the null it flies all over the place. The question is then how do you adjust the null or how do you make sure the null lands I the right spot in 3d space? There are not may options in the export drop down menu, only link and mode. thank you

Yes I followed your step and chose the custom fixed in the geo tracker effect like you did at 3:18 and tried with the "active camera" and "custom fixed" is set before tracking. I did not see any other cameras that were Brough into the sequence in your tutorial. However, you are correct in the assumption this is something to do with camera. It appears the tracking data is reversed and placed not on the footage but on the camera it self. In other words, when I look from "left" view I can see the camera moving and the skull moving in accordance, almost as if the skull was a projection from the camera and so the skull sitting at the end of the perspective cone. I hope am I making this clear. I have been troubleshooting this following your steps exactly but somehow can't get around this problem. help would be greatly appreciated. if it helps, I can share a screen recording of the problem. thank you
@@flo.motion Update. I got a solution to my inaccurate tracking from Keentool. The 3d object needed to so be zeroed out at the three dimension in initial position. In other words, the object was tracking correctly, but when dropped into composition it was somewhere else in the 3d space. Perhaps this is common sense, but for someone (like me) who is not familiar with 3D objects this was a frustrating obstacle. I figure I shared this solution, as it is apparently a common problem Keentools has been reached out to, and I am sure few others here have ran into. Thank you for continuing making great tutorials and I feel ready now for the more advance one you have already posted.
do i have to have the same lighting in your room in order to key out my skin properly. because when i try color keying my skin out, i can only key out so much until it just keys out everything including my hair and eyes.
Hey! It is not about the light but the colour of your skin! If that is too similar with the rest of your room, you can try to maybe use the extract effect. Or roto...or even better: the roto brush tool!!

Mocha is the best for planar tracking or mesh tracking!! If you want to track a 3d object you need the geo tracker. If you want to track a 3d scene you can use the camera tracker and potentially soon also mocha pro...
