Looks to me anyway that the more people you have the more zombies you face at night that or each night the number of zombies goes up. Keep in mind this is based on what I have seen in a few videos. The game does look like fun.
make your castle in sections as you're expanding! a section for the storage, a section for beds, and many other sections also a trap for the zombie might be good
