I've played this wonderful game for a few hundred hours myself but seeing it broken down to a science like this is so satisfying, I've honestly never put this much thought into the game's combat beyond making sure my pawn is set to do what I want him to do and going to town. These videos make me want to hit up Bitterblack and figure out some of these systems and character setups for myself.

The cheapest and most op tank build that I've found to be useful to have for a pawn is a pawn fully equipped in auto-regenerative armor (forgot the name of it), spec'd as a fighter with all the benefits that are appropriate for that class. So, you don't have to worry about that pawn's health, so long as his/her health is being regenerated over time. Plus, if you assign something like Dragon's Maw to him/her and supply that pawn with lots of mushrooms, you're gonna have an unkillable, spam machine. :))) Just make sure to have mushrooms ready for use. Oh, and, don't forget about Tenacity - helps a lot when you're facing a horde of enemies at once since fighting against a large number of enemies increases the chance for your companion to commit seppuku. The only problem I've found with this build is that pawns don't really care all that much about flying enemies, which means either you have to be spec'd as some kind of ranged build or rely on yet another pawn to shoot down flying undesirables.
And this is why Antler Toss is one of my favourite attacks. I usually play Mystic Knight a bit like a tank... sorta. Sky Rapture and Broad Slash are two skills that go well together. Broad Slash has good stagger power while keeping you mobile, while Sky Rapture has great stagger and knockdown because of the first hop if you don't jump cancel it.
heck yeah. I love Antler Toss. And I like broad slash on Fighter. I still could never get into Sky Rapture, I find that Ruinous Sigil takes care of all of my stagger and knockdown needs
@@Nihil0.0 I understand that; Ruinous Sigil is definitely the superior skill. But I just think Sky Rapture is more fun to use for some reason. Then again, lunging through the air to stab a harpy or ogre or what have you in the face feels great.
@@Pamjamelia I prefer Sky Rapture too most of the time, mainly because it means not having to switch to a staff when I want to get somewhere that requires more than a single jump.
@@HighPhoenix1754 From what I remember, since it's multiple attacks, you can stagger way more. But I've had cases where an Elder Ogre would be knocked down by an attack but an extra hit causes it to stagger mid-knockdown, so it wouldn't get knocked down.
Warrior might not get as many skills as other classes but all I really needed was Corona Slash and jumping attacks to get through anything. Even BBI on hard. Maybe through in the Lunge attack for messing around.
Just started playing recently. Watching your videos has shown how great and thought out the mechanics of this game really are ,just awesome. Great content man!
I don't know why it never occurred to me that Corona slash has good knockdown power, considering it pretty much sweeps the enemy's feet from under them...
It's actually better. Monster Hunter is more mechanical and the animations are slow and deliberate with an emphasis on numbers. This game lets you literally climber anywhere on a monster, which is a mini game in itself.
Sh*t never actually played ddda as a fighter or warrior. Just because in RPGs these always remindvme as just basic beginner classes! Actually looks beast.
ust started playing dd2, im going sorc with a warrior pawn. Dunno if u still active on the plataform to answer this comment but i hope u do. My warrior pawn maxed out his vocation but i still cant seem to find out where u got half of that augments. Any advice how to?
Fighter lvl 1-10 Warrior lvl 10-100 and ranger lvl 100-200 then u will have a pawn that has high health & defense survivability for tank build remember tank builds are not about high damage its only about the health and defense thats wat tank builds are about dont worry as long as your pawn has high health and high defense to survive they'll still do damage
I played this kind of Paladin build, with 3 really goos pawns, warrior, sorcerer and ranger, I was setting up sigil next to sorcerer and kept covering him with holy barrier while enchanting weapons of my team, if sorc relocated I relocated with him and warrior kept tanking and staggering meanwhile ranger was doing its job with the bow. When ranger was getting low I used to call them back rearange, heal and do it again, while supporting team with sopor on certain enemies. There was no way this team failed, although it was slow to kill big enemies, it was fun to watch pawns do all the job. Obviously my augments were all supportive type from mk aswell as mage for enchants and healing.
Is there a way to make a fighter (and warrior?) pawn less grabby? Even without the augment I see that they cannot go 30 seconds without going for a grab. Thanks in advance!
Not quite. If you are always up close to enemies, try the Inclination of Pioneer as secondary. If you are usually far away from enemies, try the inclination gaurdian. If you have pawns that are distant fighters try the inclination Nexus as secondary. But, there's not much you can do with pawns avoiding the grab
I'd like to ask: if I'm trying to train my Fighter pawn to be a tank, would I be better off using MK(melee or standard build) or SwSh Assassin and just forego climbing?
Actually, the best way to train for a Tank is to play Mage. Keep his health constantly high. I know you don't want to hear that, but after 10to20 hours he'll have it down
Oh, thanks! So just keep him topped off and learn the fights himself is the best way for it? As a mage, should I just hold back and let my pawn kill most/all of the enemies or do I act like I'm naturally playing and just topping my pawn off when needed? And I wanted to ask: in the build that you showed for the Fighter tank, are there any augment slots that are "optional"? I'm mostly looking at the value of Fitness and Tenacity since I was hoping to slot at least Sinew in (and maybe Intervention because of fashion).
@@eandlbloodflower6765 augments can be whatever you'd like, though Egression would be good to have. Focus on healing him but still do attacks. Try to gain aggro often and let him regain the aggro. Ask for "help" or "come" when you see enemies coming for you
So I took a break, maybe 2 weeks as I was going thought therapy and now back playing. I've had maybe 6 hrs sleep in the last 2 days (extreme I know). My question now is why don't all the classes have a tank warrior as a pawn. Freaking meat shild, lol.
I'm playing as a Sorcerer now, and my Pawn is a Warrior. I think I'll copy your pawn build. I think it's weird only having Corona Slash, but you know it better I guess. Atm she has Whirlwind, Corona and Exodus. Guess I'll remove those 2 skills then. Question, My pawn is 1. Scatherer, 2. Challenger, 3. Pioneer, but during combat she's sometimes very passive. How can I make my warrior way more aggressive? And for those knockdowns, are they even possible in Hardmode? I wish to keep her a warrior for my HM run too. Or do you think I should change her to a fighter for drawing aggro? For Hammer, she's using Stamina Hammer, so she draws aggro so I can cast my spells. Is this Hammer a good choice? You seem like a guy that know Dragons Dogma better than any other, that's why I'd really appreciate your opinion on those questions! Thanks a bunch!
Stats don't matter in attack at least. The tank style needs high health, which Fighter gets and high defense, which Fighter gets. The only thing you may want to seek is Awareness augment from Sorcerer, or get some magic defense stats from Mage or Magic Archer. And yeah, hard mode it's still viable. Hard mode isn't that big of a deal.
Nice accents with stop-frames for staggered/off-balance. By the way, a classic tank in RPG's usually has an aggro skill. In Dragon's Dogma warrior has "Battle Cry" -> "War Cry" and fighter has "Shield Summons" -> "Shield Drum". So, @Nihil0.0 why don't you use the aggro skills in the tank build? :) I'd say they left one vulnerable during animation, or may be they are used mostly by guardian-nexus pawns, but would be nice to know your thoughts on those.
War Cry and Shield summons doesn't seem to help too much. When combat starts enemies are auto aggro to the Red vocation, and then it switches with who attacked the enemy the hardest. The skills will gain aggro of small enemies fairly easily, but the big boys only care about who is the highest threat to them, so if a Sorcerer casts Bolide, then the enemy is auto aggro to the Sorcerer, but if a Fighter can quickly get a good attack in after that spell has been casted it will then switch to the Fighter. But after that Sorcerer's attack, the WarCry or Shield Summon will not gain the aggro back. And then there's the whole "WarCry" 12 times in battle when all you want the damn Warrior to do is attack something, but it's too busy yelling "WarCry" I think the Inclination that WarCry and Shield SUmmons is derived from might be Utilitarian, Mitigator and Challenger. These are just my observations with the skills. A long time ago I declared "well, that's useless" and never equipped it again
@@Nihil0.0 thanks for detailed answer, I understand your point. Yes, those could be annoying, and probably without shield skills at all (deflect in passives is required) is a way better.
Diffidently going to start using Corona Slash now. Any tips for the Warrior vs. Living Armor match-up, or is it just an endless battle of pokes for you too?
yep, you know it. Just the poke and run for me. I typically go with jump/Light attack just as I run by his left when he does his takedown thrust attack. or Exodus Slash, but his damn shield often blocks any damage
Hey Nihil, what pad are you using? Did you play console version? In console at least ps3/ps4 from my experience targetting with right analog works much more smooth compared to pad on pc which only imitates mouse movement. Also I noticed that you might use mod for editing characters faster? I see you play offline.
I played on xbox360, and with pc I use a xbox controller, because I couldn't relearn dogma with kbm. I don't have any mod to make characters faster, i have the hooks mod enabled but only use it for convenience of recording, like switching augments or switching weapons or switching skills. Usually offline, because I am solo, so no need, but occasionally I will take some subscriber's pawns out and about
It's good for small enemies, but not for big ones. Corona Slash has all enemies covered. Adding too many choices will diminish the use of the skills that you want them to use
Hmm, I do wonder how effective a grapple build Pawn is. By that I mean how often does grappling come up when against BBI enemies, who are often at least the size of a small Cyclops or if they can be grappled are often in swarms? The bonus damage and the extended "stun" are amazing, but normally by the time it comes around there's little reason to.
For the main game or for BBI? I have lots of BBI runs, without commentary and with commentary, and Enemy specific library. I am working on some runs in Gransys in the main story soon, which will have tips and such. Below I will leave my "Info" library which covers some things ruclips.net/video/4O5y6ZAzTZA/видео.html
I'm deciding that maybe I should change my fighter to a warrior sing my fighter shield bashes the air all of the time. If I want to turn back into a fighter after I try, is it safe for me to get the warrior core skills?
The first set is dark retexture modded, but denim hosen, doublet, bandit's mask, ebon neck wrap and Assault boots. The second is Grand surcoat, leather gloves and leather boots.
@@Nohvahkane ive start a new bbi run yesturday with a sorcerer at lvl 50, thats the easiest class , tornado to clear room and some boss and holy charm to destroy deamon most of the boss, ah and without pawns cause i need xp xD
It's actually the most fun. You just need to remember to do the invincibility move when the enemies hit and you're golden. I mastered the class after being intimidated for a while.
I'm going to start a new game using this build. What pawn would you recommend along with skills and what not? I'd like to travel with 3 pawns I just feel more comfortable with a party. (Still very new to the game so any help would be appreciated)
Warrior will always take more damage compared to the other vocations, so I would say Mage, with a healer focus. ruclips.net/video/S274ZaKBrvE/видео.html Or a ranged Ranger or Strider, or Sorcerer, as you will keep the aggro away from them
Tank builds are a welcome relief to we gamers who need time to cast. You have to put a bit more thought into it than in other games but a good in this game is essential for inexperienced or low level players. Once again, I find warrior pretty useless. Yes they can aggro enemies but enemies usually take them down in a few seconds. Shielded pawns can summon steel will and perfect block for defense. Then attack with dragon's maw which seems to hit multiple targets. Nice job with a highly overlooked build.
Oh yeah. A spell casting Arisen can always use some aggro control, and Warrior vs Fighter is an obvious one. Everyone wants Warrior to be the winner, but Fighter has so many more options and tactics, and better skills. It's funny that the 3 basic vocations are very useful when considering the 6 possibilities for a pawn.
With the knowledge that Hideaki Itsuno could have worked on Dragon’s Dogma 2 but chose to do Devil May Cry first. Can you make a video talking about things you’d like to see in a sequel?
@@Nihil0.0 Fair enough haha I was just curious as to what ideas you'd come up with. I can't really see other vocations being added (don't know about Dragon's Dogma online) but I feel like a better storyline with more end game challenges and even more skills for new play-styles would be great. Im just now getting into the nitty-gritty of the game after years of playing on and off and typically just spamming 5-fold, 10-fold, 9-fold skills or climbing enemies. Your videos are very helpful!
hello Nihil, your videos make want to play the game again, i have the game on pc and i was thinking on adding mods, apart for the graphic enhancing ones, there is this mod called "world difficult by leifen" have you seen it? do you recommend it?
I tried the World difficulty mod a long time ago, and at that time I did not care for it. Mostly because of balance. It created a room with enemies of 400 attack threshold and in the same room enemies with 1800 attack threshold, so I had some enemies that would die with my sneeze and the others balanced with reasonable combat. Or I had enemies balanced with reasonable combat and some enemies that I could not break and only damage 1 hp a strike. I can already create a good overall balance with vanilla without this large gap, by equipping weapons with certain numbers. I do like the idea of new enemy spawns and more enemy spawns, but I don't like the offset balance, and I refuse to periapts, because I have never needed periapts with vanilla. But, try it out. I am me and you are you.
Ultimately Aggro will always take the attacker as primary. You could have 2 Warriors and 2 Mages in a room, if a Mage lands a Levin then that Mage will be the aggro until another member attacks that enemy to regain. I've never noticed a major difference with Stamina Hammer. The only time I see a difference is when combat starts, the enemy will aggro the Stamina Hammer weilder. After that aggro has been lost, it's all for 1.
What weight do you run fighters to be able to wear the armor/weapons? I was thinking at least the L class or even larger but I’m not sure. Also what are your experiences running a tank build? I had in mind leveling in such a way as to have virtually high split physical and magick defense to cover all the bases. Is that overkill? in essence the goal is to be the sole meaty tank and have a party running around my controlling the enemy.
yes, do your own build no matter what others say. Vocations and stats does not really matter. It is all about execution on how to implement your own build to beat the game in your own fun way.
My comment two years ago was made without knowledge of an optimal tank build path, now though the answer to the mystery is to level 1-100 as a sorcerer and 100-200 as a fighter, simplified. The reason being that defence stats scale harder than raw HP does, and the tank is basically not taking damage with those defence values even in hard mode, assuming we are giving them damage reduction augments and good armour on top of that. Even the duke's armour set should be enough, but with the % resistances you should not expect your fighter or warrior to be taking more than 1 damage in most cases. The benefit to warrior is that it has the better attack stat growth scaling. Less HP but HP being worth more individually makes all HP boosting mechanics more efficienct as well. Newer tank builds can utilize a bug with bloody knuckles and no weapon equipped to boost damage with shield attacks up to 8x apparently, you can find videos of it competing with a typical dragon's maw fighter build. That is, they will basically perfect block and bash down 3 ogres and oxes simultaneously with no curatives.
Hello Nihil. I wanted to make a great fighter so I watched this video and gave my Arisen and Pawn both the same exact skills and augments, barbed Nails, and good equipment. I have trouble with the shield storm at times, it seems like I seldomly get to use it after a block so most of the time I use Tusk Toss, in fact I tusk toss the hell out of everything. I admit that it was after a long day, but I hired my pawn on another account and my fighter pawn didn't seem to really attack much and never used any skills. That was around level 60 my pawn seemed unaffective but outside the rift is at level 90 so that pawn may be better.. I'm feeling like a failure at this and my hopes and expectations are a bit crushed. I feel like my pawn sucks. At level 90 I don't want to start entirely over considering the amount of effort I've put in so I have a few questions. 1. Do you think I should stick to this build? 2. Should I try another fighter build instead of tank? 3. I'm considering switching to something more my natural style and maybe making, switching me and my pawn to a strider or a ranger, and if so do you think it's not too late? 4. If I remain trying with this build is it ever too late at 90 or even 200 to finally teach my pawn to be good and act accurately and aggressively? I'm pretty anxious to hear your advice on this matter and thank you.
Well, it depends what you want from a Pawn. The Tank build is good for the pawn to ignore damage, but not deliver much damage. Instead the pawn will provide stagger and knockdown. By switching skills and augments, the pawn will act different. Shield storm is only useful for a few enemies, such as Ogre during it's block, or any other enemy that will hold a block. If the yellow vocation are more your usual go to, then yeah, try that. Typically it is best for your pawn to be the same color as you are, but not always needed, just easier to sync well. With any stats from leveling, you can be any vocation, because it's gear and weapons that usually provide us our numbers. It would be bad for a 200 leveled Fighter to be Sorcerer, and it would be bad for a 200 leveled Sorcerer to be Warrior, but it can still can be done, because armor and weapons and augments will fill in the gaps. Stamina and Health are the only stats that matter for builds. Warrior and Fighter don't need stamina so much, but they need health, and the Yellow and Blues don't need much health, but do use a lot stamina. I have taken a 200 Warrior as Sorcerer and came out just fine, and I have taken a 200 Sorcerer as Fighter and came out fine. So try some others and definitely d not worry about those stats gains per level up, especially after lv100, just get good weapons and armor. Assassin has Antler Toss and Bow, and then your pawn could be strider or Ranger and you will both still sync very well. And pawns do suck. It takes a long time for a pawn to get good, and requires a lot of babysitting and tweaking until it feels right. What works for me may not work for others, because I have my own playstyle that requires a certain role from the pawn. The biggest thing that will make a good pawn is the Inclinations, then the Beastiary will improve it more, then the skills, then the augments, then our habits also make a pawn. This is why the same color vocation is ideal. If you are melee up close as Fighter and you have a Sorcerer pawn that you want to be distant, well the Sorcerer pawn will slowly shape to your style and put herself in melee range. And the other way for the other vocations. Trial and Error, tamper and Tweak is the best way to figure out a good party setup. First figure out who you want to be, then figure out who you want your pawn to be. If I am Fighter, then I will kill all small enemies first, and then the large one, this would be what I want my Fighter pawn to be as well, so it's easy, I just let him follow me. Then I give him skills that keep him as Mitigator such as Antler Toss and nothing else. Now he wont waste time with Steel Will, and he wont leave the fight will Burst Strike, and he will just swing his Sword in melee range. If I am Strider, I will climb, I melee, and I will Range from afar, but I would rather my Strider pawn be just Range from afar, so I would maybe remove her Daggers, or at least only give her Splitter, and then give her Fracture Dart and probably only Fracture Dart. If you haven't seen my Augments video, it talks about augments can tell a pawn what they should do - ruclips.net/video/4O5y6ZAzTZA/видео.html And Inclinations in this video - ruclips.net/video/kzFjrEFSvZM/видео.html&t= Good luck, and don't take it so seriously. Have fun and then it will just casually all come together
@@Nihil0.0 Thank you. I decided that I'll stick with my fighter. I may just cage his skills, inclinations and such if he doesn't turn out as I had hoped.
Thank you, I look forward to seeing my pawn and Nilly, side by side. Even though doesn't have this build I think that she'll be a great example to follow. Yeah I apologize for having to ask you instead of just sending the friend invite myself, I would on each account if that were the case. The Steam with my fighter is level 0 so I can't send friend invites. Thank you so much for taking the time out to do it and thank you for your assistance. I have moments more so lately where I'm proud of my pawn, there's also moments that she'll whiz right by an enemy with a burst strike and I'll think to myself "Those damned wolves back at level 1" I believe that much is my fault. For so long I've played a yellow vocation and just now getting around to trying others. I may switch my pawn's burst strike to antler toss since I use it so often. I made another account and game with a strider that is picking up everything quickly and successfully, I'm very proud of it. A lot of that has to do with watching your videos and getting a much better understanding of augments.
Preference really. I personally don't worry about defense much, but some like to have it. Fighter and Warrior get low magic defense, and then their armor provides little magic defense. Stamina should only be needed for spamming Dragon's Maw. The other skills are not high on stamina usage. Typically each vocation gets the stats that they need for their role. Ranger gets stamina because the bow skills are high on stamina. Fighter and Warrior need high health because they are up in the front and aggroed with the enemies. But, preference really
@@Nihil0.0 Hmm, I'm still fairly new to the game but I've really been enjoying playing as a warrior and its good to know theres a specific build I can follow that I like. Thanks for the reply!

No worries Lorena, a Tank can be played at any stage of the game. You will just need to make sure that your armor is as high as it can be, and the weapons are as high as they can be. Know when you can knock down an enemy and just keep knocking it down ruclips.net/video/Oe_JRCF4kSg/видео.html&t=
eh..... I would say not Assassin's Shield skills are essentially avoidance and flanking skills, which you can get simply with dodge roll. I know it looks cool, but it's not very viable in my opinion.
Tank min max> strength min max because even with min max strength you'll never hurt anything without buffs stacked in bbi and there's a marginal difference between max strength build vs anything else lol
Yeah, you can. In my testing aggro is more likely kept simply from attacking. I find War Cry useless. Stamina Hammer is nice at first, but after a Sorcerer lands Maestrom the aggro goes to the Sorcerer. And the only way to get it back is by attacking. The Stamina Hammer and War Cry will be ignored
Ok, going to try something I've not done. Warrior. What in your respected opinion would be my best bet for main pawn lvls 1-10 and then on? Thx All my toons have been ranged.. keeping a distance from the enemy unless climbing/blind spots so, lol. This will be new.

Awareness augment, but also only 25% of attacks are from Magic, so it's not too concerning. Really the only Magic attacks that you need to be cautious of is Ingle
Sure. It's not always needed, as you can keep the aggro with just constant attacks, but for a pawn the Stamina Hammer will be a good option. Much better than WarCry
Oh yeah. That's the best way to make a Tank, by leveling as a Tank, with high health and high defense. Fighter likes to use stamina if you go with the Dragon's Maw skill, but aside from that, neither Fighter nor Warrior really need much stamina
Me personally, stamina and long animation. It is a mighty attack though. I rely on Antler toss for damage, Full moon for i-frames and Blink strike for distant stagger and knockdown.
Haha think I started in 2013 maybe and to date only on xbox360, stil one of my top 5 games, so much so that I know how to do most quests beforehand and where to go and skip points haha
Bastion... Isn't that the perk which actually increases damage taken due to a calculation typo/bug, something that wasn't fixed even in the PC release?
Hello, due to this times of pandemic, gaming has become a great way to keep my free home time entertainment busy, I am new to DDDA (and is fantastic), and I finished the game but I never reached that level of health, can you may be able to post a video on how to reach that much health please?
A couple things wrong from what I'm seeing with these builds: 1) HP way too high. Actually will go as far as to say pretty unnecessary. A nice chunk of that HP spread should have gone to stamina. 2) D-Maw is actually legit but I can understand being focused on staggers 3) I understand corona slash but isn't the Arc charge move way better and stronger? 4) And not only is that Arc move stronger it has much bigger stun/knockback etc. CS while nice is kind of weak sauce but to be fair can't ignore that knockdown at key opportunities so I'd sub in Arc for Pummel instead. As the monster turtles just charge up Arc. Excellent video content otherwise.
For a tank build, with knockdown and aggro in mind, I say Fighter. Warrior does fair but Fighter does better. As for the player rather than the pawn, any can do well, you just need to constantly be attacking and hitting, and when you see a stagger go in for a knockdown with your heavy hit.

@@Pamjamelia I prefer Sky Rapture too most of the time, mainly because it means not having to switch to a staff when I want to get somewhere that requires more than a single jump.
I'm late to the party but does Abyssal Anguish help with knock down?
@@HighPhoenix1754 From what I remember, since it's multiple attacks, you can stagger way more. But I've had cases where an Elder Ogre would be knocked down by an attack but an extra hit causes it to stagger mid-knockdown, so it wouldn't get knocked down.

Never stood a chance. And this was mid level weapons, Rooted Gloom and Black Matter
Warrior might not get as many skills as other classes but all I really needed was Corona Slash and jumping attacks to get through anything. Even BBI on hard. Maybe through in the Lunge attack for messing around.
Yep. You feel awesome when you can kill everything. I took on 4 Elder Ogres alone in that arena. Great stuff. Just memorize enemy attacks.
I agree. I only ever need 2 skills as Warrior, and never fealt gimped with a limit of 3 slots. For me, it was Exodus Slash and Pommel Strike

I don't know why it never occurred to me that Corona slash has good knockdown power, considering it pretty much sweeps the enemy's feet from under them...
Corona Slash is pretty awesome, and yeah most knockdowns are triggered near the feet, which makes sense. I know I drop down if I step on a nail

Unsurprisingly similar to MH:World ablility and control. Here is hoping for the Dragon's Dogma 2 since Capcom is porting it everywhere.

Fighter lvl 1-10
Warrior lvl 10-100
and ranger lvl 100-200 then u will have a pawn that has high health & defense survivability for tank build remember tank builds are not about high damage its only about the health and defense thats wat tank builds are about dont worry as long as your pawn has high health and high defense to survive they'll still do damage
Request: MysticKnight supporter build. One that can fight on his own but uses his skills to boost his pawns.
Have a good day nihil

Is there a way to make a fighter (and warrior?) pawn less grabby? Even without the augment I see that they cannot go 30 seconds without going for a grab.
Thanks in advance!
Not quite. If you are always up close to enemies, try the Inclination of Pioneer as secondary. If you are usually far away from enemies, try the inclination gaurdian. If you have pawns that are distant fighters try the inclination Nexus as secondary. But, there's not much you can do with pawns avoiding the grab
I laughed too hard watching run up to that troll and knocking him over with a jump attack!! Definitely need to get this game again!!
Get it Derell. Endless replay value. And knocking sh*t over is very satisfying
2020 onwards: "Corona Slash" 👁👄👁
If I get stuck in a grapple, I just take the death. They really hammer your analogue stick and they just aren't made for it.
The player can grapple enemies!?
So you said stats don’t matter just gear and augments?
Is this build still viable in Hard mode on pure Fighter?
Stats don't matter in attack at least. The tank style needs high health, which Fighter gets and high defense, which Fighter gets. The only thing you may want to seek is Awareness augment from Sorcerer, or get some magic defense stats from Mage or Magic Archer.
And yeah, hard mode it's still viable. Hard mode isn't that big of a deal.
Nihil0.0 thanks man!
Usually offline, because I am solo, so no need, but occasionally I will take some subscriber's pawns out and about
Are there written guides available?
What would you say about adding Whirlwind Slash for the Warrior tank pawn? I see them use that quite a lot and it seems to work out for them.
It's good for small enemies, but not for big ones. Corona Slash has all enemies covered. Adding too many choices will diminish the use of the skills that you want them to use
@@Nihil0.0 Ahh I see thx. Really wish warrior had more cool Aoe skills but I guess their core skills are where it shines anyway.

Or a ranged Ranger or Strider, or Sorcerer, as you will keep the aggro away from them
Yay another video! Gonna try this build out tonight. Just unlocked the clout augment
Nice. Stagger and Knockdown are great for gaining extra damage
You should do a tank video based on the Mystic Knight as well
With the knowledge that Hideaki Itsuno could have worked on Dragon’s Dogma 2 but chose to do Devil May Cry first. Can you make a video talking about things you’d like to see in a sequel?
hmmmmm, I'm not sure if I have an opinion really. I just don't want it to be too much influenced by Dogma Online. Everything else is fine by me.
@@Nihil0.0 thx bro just what i expected to read, i will try it, keep the good work
Curious how this would work with a stamina hammer instead...
How do you grapple like that all I can do is pick them up and throw them
Any thoughts on levelling a few times as a sorcerer simply for the magic def growth?
Yeah, that's a good idea. Warrior and Fighter's armor has low magic defense, so getting some magic defense would be helpful. Don't go crazy though
I'm looking for good tank build for a Pawn. Is the low mag def not an issue for the build?
Some magic defense is a good idea. Heavy armor provides little mag defense. Not totally required but some levels as Mage would help
@@Nihil0.0 Thanks I decided on 10 Fighter, 90 Warrior and then 100 Ranger. Still big numbers but an extra 100 mag def.
If you haven't seen my Augments video, it talks about augments can tell a pawn what they should do -

Do you deal extra damage to held targets or is that just my imagination?
Yeah, about 50%. Magic attack or Physical attack is boosted while held down.
How do you make pawn warriors do jump attacks?
Hi I want to follow this build and I'm curious is the lack of stamina and magic defense ever a problem for you?
Preference really. I personally don't worry about defense much, but some like to have it. Fighter and Warrior get low magic defense, and then their armor provides little magic defense. Stamina should only be needed for spamming Dragon's Maw. The other skills are not high on stamina usage. Typically each vocation gets the stats that they need for their role. Ranger gets stamina because the bow skills are high on stamina. Fighter and Warrior need high health because they are up in the front and aggroed with the enemies.
But, preference really

Oh yeah. That's the best way to make a Tank, by leveling as a Tank, with high health and high defense. Fighter likes to use stamina if you go with the Dragon's Maw skill, but aside from that, neither Fighter nor Warrior really need much stamina
Could you post a simplified build plan in the comments NIHIL?
Love this game, may go on another run. One question though, why not use Dragons maw instead of full moon slash for fighter
Me personally, stamina and long animation. It is a mighty attack though. I rely on Antler toss for damage, Full moon for i-frames and Blink strike for distant stagger and knockdown.
Thanks for replying. Lots great info here.
5k hp,impressive! Cool clip,buddy ;-)
yep, that's what Fighter and Warrior gain in hp. That's why I say level a vocation 100%, each vocation gets the stats that they need
@@Nihil0.0 What about magic archer? Does it get low mag atk and phys atk because even with 0 magic atk it hits like a truck?
Playing warrior without Arc of Deliverance feels so empty
hehe. I am actually not a fan of Arc of. I don't like rolling as a Charging Warrior. But most do love Arc of. I am a strange one
Nihl dude, if you had to guess, how many times have you played through the main game
A guess? Man, maybe 1000's. I have been playing since 2012, probably a total of 5000 hours between xbox and pc. But lots of times
Haha think I started in 2013 maybe and to date only on xbox360, stil one of my top 5 games, so much so that I know how to do most quests beforehand and where to go and skip points haha
*literally exists just to feel pain*
Pain and Sorrows
Corona slash???
Bastion...
Isn't that the perk which actually increases damage taken due to a calculation typo/bug, something that wasn't fixed even in the PC release?
That's Sorcerer augment Inflection, but that has been fixed for the new consoles and pc.
What armour are you wearing?
It is a dark retexture mod, but Denim hosen, Doublet, Bandit's mask, Ebon Neck wrap and Assault boots
Nihil0.0 Um how do you do the mod because I like that, I play on ps4
Just on PC. Like Skyrim. The black does look slick though
Hello, due to this times of pandemic, gaming has become a great way to keep my free home time entertainment busy, I am new to DDDA (and is fantastic), and I finished the game but I never reached that level of health, can you may be able to post a video on how to reach that much health please?
Fighter to lv10, Warrior to lv100, and Fighter to lv200 gives the highest health gain. Equip 2 Savior rings and you get an additional 1000
nice
How do u level up so dingity dang fast my guy
These are old save files that i switch between. I have about 30 different builds saved, and I just switch as I need them
Your actually my dad 😳🙏
whoa now. i already child support. I don't want another
A couple things wrong from what I'm seeing with these builds:
1) HP way too high. Actually will go as far as to say pretty unnecessary. A nice chunk of that HP spread should have gone to stamina.
2) D-Maw is actually legit but I can understand being focused on staggers
3) I understand corona slash but isn't the Arc charge move way better and stronger?
4) And not only is that Arc move stronger it has much bigger stun/knockback etc. CS while nice is kind of weak sauce but to be fair can't ignore that knockdown at key opportunities so I'd sub in Arc for Pummel instead. As the monster turtles just charge up Arc.
Excellent video content otherwise.
Nihil meglio usare strider, warrior , Fighter or assassin , thank you 😊😊😊😊
For a tank build, with knockdown and aggro in mind, I say Fighter. Warrior does fair but Fighter does better. As for the player rather than the pawn, any can do well, you just need to constantly be attacking and hitting, and when you see a stagger go in for a knockdown with your heavy hit.
I once tried a run through bbi as a Fighter, it was such a mess hahahahaha never again
The very first time playing Dragons Dogma I was Fighter the entire way. I didn't know we could switch after choosing that first time. I found it to be super fun
I'm playing through bbi as a fighter rn and it's not too bad. Doing it solo must really suck though
Are you Nick Offerman's son?
Well, Nick Offerman's son is better than "you sound like Bob Ross" but nope, I just natually sound monotone. Like Steven Wright.
@@Nihil0.0
It's the pauses I guess.
Great videos mate, I appreciate them
@@Nihil0.0 Honestly I think your voice and manner of speaking are great. I love your commentary. There's no wasted time, no "umms" and "hmms" unless for emphasis. Everything is super clear and concise. Been binge watching your videos recently. Thanks for all your work. If they ever come out with a sequel I hope to see you do the same all over again.
Just . . . THUMBS UP X 2
Cool Lee. Thanks
