- Rammstein's Seemann lyrics with the english transltion. I'm surprised that the tuning for Oliver's bass is Standard tuning :O. It's a calm peaceful song with some heavy parts in there.

Once I asked a german girl to translate this song for me, in first place she told me in Germany Ramstein's lyrics are known for not making much sense or tell nonsense, so she translated the song and told me "see, nonsense" honestly I didn't get much of it at the moment, that was 13 years ago. Today I just remember that and for the first time looked up for the translation myself and I have found out that this is a QUITE A BEAUTIFUL POEM in a quite a beautiful melody. Now I strongly believe that german girl was either very superficial or she just really despited this band. Another lesson on why is so important to always make our own research and forge our own opinions.

Love this song, makes me cry and it is sooooo beautiful, makes me yearn to be with this seaman so he is not alone and cold anymore!!! I can feel that he once had glorious days afloat and now in the twilight of his years he is looking back and reflecting that the sea was his mate but now there is noone for him.....so sad but with Rammsteins songs...I could be totally wrong as they are all so amgibous but the beautiful words tell a story and conjure up pictures that just tear at your heart so much

"Ich bleibe" means "I stay", in this case it's just "bleibe ich" (due to the grammatical structure of the sentence). Till cuts off the "e" at the end of "bleibe" because ppl do that with languages (like how we say "gettin'" instead of "getting"). It still means the same thing, but it's more colloquial. "Am Ende bleib ich doch alleine" means the same, though it's not grammatically correct. Hope this helped :)

Kurbie1987, "bleibE" or "bleib" means exactly the same, in German (in this case, to remain). It is just an 'abbreviation' of the verb, made to fit better phonetically. And Till really sings "Am Ende bleib' ich doch alleine".

This song requires such amazing bass tone. You have to do it perfect or it won't sound good and it'll destroy the song. Good thing Oliver's a beast! :D
Bleib is the shortcut, bleibe is the "longcut". It's like stayin' and staying. In the original track (this one) he sing is bleib. But, meybe on DVD he sings it belibe, so, they put that in the subtittles. Both ways are correct. You can do your tattoo.

I get a general idea of this song's meaning when I listen to it, but with Rammstein it is really difficult to tell. They leave their stuff very open to interpretation, but what really makes me wonder is the part where he says, "Sie sprachen nur von deiner Mutter: They spoke only of your mother." I have a feeling it has some really deep meaning but I can't figure out how it relates to the rest of the song. Anybody have any ideas?

The proper conjugation of "bleiben" for the first person singular is "bleibe"- If it were proper German, you would be correct, that it should be "Am Ende bleibe ich doch alleine". BUT, the way he sings it, he's saying "bleib". It's not incorrect, it's just a shortened form, like how in English we say "can't" instead of "cannot". If you want to be true to the band and Till's lyrics, use "bleib".

bleib and bleibe are both correct, bleib is a bit more colloquial and bleibe is the more correct way to say it.
the E in the song was removed because it sounds better when sung: if you want to keep the exact words of the song when he sings it you should also remove the E at the end of alleinE... otherwise they both go wit an E. But I would leave the E's out because that is what he says in the song and it is not wrong to sing so. I would write it this way: Am ende bleib' ich doch allein', die Zeit.......

Technically the correct spelling would be "bleibe", but as in all poetry/lyrics some liberties are taken. If we wanted to get picky, this ought be written down as "Am Ende bleib' ich doch alleine".

I dont like Nina version. I feel like she doesn't sing it with passion, she does it just for attention. She ruins the song completely. And she doesn't sing along with the beautiful music apocalyptica provided. Rammstein version hits harder when it comes to emotions.

You said that she did it for attention, she always does covers of others artist, The Tubes, lene Lovich, Janis Joplin, Sex Pistols, Herman Brood.
