Then watch the waluigi arc, it’s the first one, then rapper bob, anime and RUclips. Those are important for reasons, then watch the Meggy s destiny movie, Mario and the mask of madness, genesis arc, revelations arc, meme games 2022, then the lawsuit arc. Then check out some of the stuff post wotfi 2022 separately.
Allow me to explain as a SMG4 professional; There’s original characters in this universe that started debuting in 2016. The one with the green hair you saw is named “Melony” and she was originally an actual watermelon before a Fierce Deity mask was planted onto the watermelon. There are other characters throughout the current (2016-2023) era you’ll get to know too, like Meggy, Tari, Saiko, Belle, Whimpu, who you saw in the last video, and much more. You’ll know which one is which through the subtitles. The series has several story arcs and movies, which both tend to be more serious than regular episodes. Prior to The Lawsuit Arc, which happened earlier this year, SMG4, SMG3, Bob and Fishy Boopkins, who was originally the Mario enemy named Spike, all received redesigns, and then got redesigns of those redesigns after being compared to the characters of Cocomelon. The Genesis and Revelations arcs reveal so much new lore that I can’t even get into details, you’re just gonna have to watch it yourself.

I don’t think new SMG4 is worse, but I see where people are coming from. I personally think it’s that SMG4 used to be more on the original side, content wise. But he kinda became irrelevant. Don’t get me wrong, old SMG4 is good, but I like the newer one better. And newer SMG4 is a little easier to follow what’s happening, and some of the arcs are actually pretty good.
WARNING: THIS IS VERY LONG AND WILL BE SEPERATED INTO PARTS Part 1: Hello! Long time SMG4 fan here to explain to you all of the characters of SMG4. Oh, also. Welcome to the brainrot that is SMG4 INDEX: MJC = Major Character MNC = Minor Character RC = Retired Character SC = Supporting Character Mario (MJC): Prior to getting zapped by SMG4's Guardian Pod in SMG4: SMG4's Origins, Mario was just like his counterpart from the mainstream Super Mario series; a friendly plumber who helped anyone in need, devoting most of his time to rescuing Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom, and participated in sports matches, kart races, and "partied" often (which are all activities that he still does today, albeit in more crazy ways). However, after he was zapped, his personality changed completely. This made him a lazy, mischievous, foul-mouthed, reckless, idiotic, and occasionally selfish man-child (far more childish than his normal counterpart). While he truly cares for his friends and family, he seems to care more about only himself and his favorite dish spaghetti, which he is addicted to and refers to it as his girlfriend or wife, and would trade anything (including SMG4's RUclips Account) for it. This addiction went so far that he actually stole spaghetti from other people and almost never shares it with anyone (except for Meggy Spletzer in a rare instance). In fact, the mere thought of losing spaghetti will either drive him insane, make him cry in frustration and even commit suicide (which fails due to him always having extra lives). Mario's extreme laziness has made him a hater of socializing (though it was temporary) and exercising. He also sometimes refuses to help his friends, family, and other people, even in life-or-world-threatening situations unless convinced, blackmailed, or threatened, making him somewhat of a sociopath with little empathy for others. An example of this is in SM64 Bloopers: Shy Guy Showdown, where he flat-out admitted he did not care if the Mushroom Kingdom was going to be taken over by the Shy Guys, only stopping the takeover out of instinct and the fact that the Shy Guys would destroy the Kingdom's spaghetti supply. Another example is in SM64: Bad Star's Back! 300k Special, where he refused to stop the Ztar from causing chaos in Mushroom City, despite the Ztar's genocidal tendencies. The opposite has occasionally occurred, such as in SMG4: If Mario Was In The Sonic Movie, where he happily agreed to help Sonic avoid getting captured by the government. Mario is also a rather cruel prankster, as shown in SMG4: The Demon Among Us where he ruthlessly pranked Shroomy in a flashback. The Anti-Shroomy personality did not take these pranks well, claiming it was all the more reason to kill Mario and the others. He is sometimes shown to be just as cowardly as Luigi, usually trying to back down from fights from powerful opponents. SMG4 (MJC): SuperMemeGuardian4 (formerly known as SuperMarioGlitchy4) abbreviated as SMG4 or colloquially as Four, is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Mario), being the titular one, of the SMG4 series. He is a formerly amnesiac meme guardian, Mario's guardian and closest ally (rival in the War of the Fat Italians series), the de-facto leader of his gang, and originally SMG3's arch-nemesis. SMG4 has been passionate and protective of his work; that aside, he seems to play the sane man who is often annoyed or shocked by Mario's crazy, flamboyant idiocy. Despite this, they are friends in most episodes, especially in the recent ones. SMG4 enjoys being around the presence of his friends, going on many zany adventures, and fighting great enemies in story arcs. During the Genesis Arc, he started searching for answers about his origins and earned most of his answers in the end, until he put the pieces of the puzzle together and learned the truth behind Eldritch SMG0 at the end of the Revelations Arc. He later becomes an original identity and has an appearance of his own after The Lawsuit Arc. SMG4 is usually portrayed as either the only sane man at Peach's Castle or (in later seasons) as a stereotypical meme-loving addict. Luigi (MJC): Luigi Mario (also known as Luigi Luigi) is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Meggy Spletzer), being the classic one, of the SMG4 series. He is a cowardly green-clad Italian plumber, Mario's younger twin brother/sidekick, an innocent citizen of the Mushroom Kingdom, and a loyal member of SMG4's Gang. He went on many adventures throughout the years and would often be there to handle Mario's shenanigans. Luigi is often a paranoid and easily scared man-child (mainly afraid of Boos), who is often humiliated by his peers. While he does have awesome and courageous moments, they are normally was very rare. He was commonly treated as a joke of bully-victim, being called gay and someone who "nobody cares about". Despite the arguably cruel way he is normally treated, he is selfless and willing to commit for his friends. Princess Peach (MNC): Princess Peach Toadstool is a major character in the SMG4 series. She served as one of the three tritagonists (alongside Toad and Bowser) in the classic era and a supporting character in the modern era. She is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. She owns and rules her own castle, where Mario, SMG4 and SMG4's Gang usually reside in. Despite being the love interest of Mario, she is often enraged by his stupidity when he recklessly destroys everything, usually as an act of karma or punishment to his behavior. Mario often does the same thing to Peach. During The Anime Arc, Peach banned anime in the Mushroom Kingdom and established the Anime Secret Service, but later removed the ban when Axol made her into an otaku. Peach had often been bossy towards SMG4's Gang, acting like a nagging authority figure to them. During the events of SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT, Peach got trapped in the sinking castle during its destruction and she was trying to escape from the Demonic Goop as seen in SMG4: Our New Home but unfortunately, she got mutated into a monster due to heavy exposure to the Demonic Goop as of Let's Go Visit Peach!, ultimately becoming one of the secondary antagonists of Season 13. SMG3 (MJC): A parody character representing the "evil" counterpart of SMG4, SMG3 is known for his schemes to take over the channel and create chaos. He's essentially a rival to SMG4. He serves as the main antagonist of the Classic era and a major antagonist-turned-tritagonist of the Modern era. Pre-RUclips Arc:
In his first appearances, SMG3 was prone to being a very arrogant, selfish, stubborn, vain, and merciless bad guy who appeared to be an incompetent villain, using useless tricks to defeat his foes, but with very little success. In his later appearances, he began to show a much darker personality, now that he was promoted to being the main antagonist. Despite appearing to be eviler, he continued his incompetent acts and usually tried to do something unusual to save himself, commonly hurting him in the process, yet protecting or enabling him to escape successfully. Like Francis before him, he was also a coward, as he only relied on a strong object to protect himself rather than getting into a physical fight. However, he seems to be better at fighting than Francis without needing to use an overpowered superweapon as he's capable of wielding a katana and bests SMG4 at it. Like SMG4, SMG3 seemed to be a showoff on Bowser whenever they bother on something they think they are better with. He always desired to do anything that got rid of SMG4 and killing everyone in his path that defends him. Post-RUclips Arc: However, SMG3 eventually became comfortable in the Internet Graveyard and even became its ruler, who entertains everyone there with dead trends, which are popular in the graveyard. According to him, the Ancient Memes were taking care of the dead memes there, but they did a crap job at it, which was the reason the Graveyard was a jungle environment. When he arrived, he actually managed to make the dead memes less violent. Having been educated about the meme life cycle, he decides to keep SMG4 alive only because he's the only one who's able to keep the memes tamed in the normal realm, which allows them to go to the Graveyard when they die, where SMG3 cares for them until they become relevant again. Overall, he's currently an anti-hero character who is concerned about the well-being of the dead memes.
Part 2: Meggy (MJC): Meggy is a jock who enjoys playing sports and going on adventures with Mario and the others. Her main sport of interest being a Turf War, in which her goal is to become the top athlete. She is very competitive as she is willing to take on any challenge that is thrown at her and also has a thirst for victory. An example is in The Mario Channel: MARIO'S CHALLENGE as she seems to care about winning than about the actual prize Mario is offering. She also wanted to win the Splatfest as she was focused on training for it hard and is determined on winning it as she finally gets to do in SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny. She also seems to really like winning challenges as she tries her hardest to try to win them. She also appears to have a strong sense of justice as she graduated as a lawyer in university, and has a desire to fight crime after winning Splatfest. She is brave, independent, level headed, competitive, enthusiastic, determined, caring, friendly, spunky, energetic, confident, competent, and smart. Meggy Spletzer is a modern deuteragonist (alongside Luigi), of the SMG4 series and the main protagonist of her spin-off series, Sunset Paradise. She is a highly competitive athlete in SMG4's Gang who protects herself and her friends from danger. Originally a citizen of Inkopolis, Meggy was obsessed with winning Splatfest, the top Inkling sports competition. Although she started on poor terms with Mario when she escaped from a paint can she was trapped in, they quickly become good friends when he participates in Splatfest with her. As of SMG4: Meggy Moves In, she has moved into the Mushroom Kingdom, now residing in Belmont, Mushroom City, joining SMG4's Gang as one of its most competent and level-headed members. Meggy also plays a central role in the Anime Arc. The arc ends with her being transformed into a human by The Ink Zuccer 2000, affecting her appearance in all subsequent episodes. For the next few episodes after her forced transformation to a human, Meggy practiced for the final Splatfest to honor Desti, while finding difficulty in being human in SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny. Eventually, she and her Splat Squad successfully defeat Team Killer Ink, finally earning the trophy. Due to the events in SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2020, her Inkling voice was changed, now being voiced by Lizzie Freeman (from 2020 to the 1st half of 2022) and later Elsie Lovelock (as of the 2nd half of 2022), affecting her voice in all subsequent episodes. Also, if you look in the "Live" section of SMG4, Meggy has streamed in the past. Tari (MJC): A character from the "Meta Runner" series, Tari is a skilled gamer with a cybernetic arm. She often brings her gaming expertise into the chaotic world of SMG4. Tari is an innocent, insecure girl frequently prone to hyperactivity who is a fan of video games, rubber ducks, and cats. She is shown to be a pacifist and often tries resolving problems with words rather than actions. Tari is very skilled with weapons such as guns, but is not very athletic and seems to have low stamina. She appears to be very accident-prone, as she often finds herself getting hurt or in danger. She is also really polite and non-confrontational, as she constantly apologizes for every mistake she has made. She's a major character in Season 8, the tritagonist of The Waluigi Arc, a major character in The Rapper Bob Arc, Season 9 and The Anime Arc, one of the two tritagonists (alongside Meggy Spletzer) of Season 10, a supporting character in The RUclips Arc and a major character in Season 11, The SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special and the Genesis Arc and one of the main protagonists in SMG4 Movie: WESTERN SPAGHETTI. Fishy Boopkins (MJC): Fishy Boopkins (usually called Boopkins for short) is one of the two modern tritagonists (alongside Bob Bobowski) of the SMG4 series, serving as the overarching protagonist of The Waluigi Arc, the main protagonist of The Rapper Bob Arc, one of the three deuteragonists (alongside Mario and Saiko Bichitaru) of The Anime Arc, a supporting character in The RUclips Arc and a major character in the Genesis Arc. He is an amphibious sea creature who is one of the last Boopkins, the other being his father and his younger brother. Fishy and his best friend, Bob Bobowski, have been hanging out with SMG4's Gang on multiple adventures. He is also one of the three biggest otakus (alongside Axol and Tari) of the gang, going so far as to hang out with dakimakura pillows. Saiko (MJC): Saiko is one of two secondary antagonists-turned-supporting characters (alongside Bob ) in Season 8, a supporting character in The Waluigi Arc, the deuteragonist of The Rapper Bob Arc, a major character in Season 9h, one of the the three deuteragonists (alongside Mario and Fishy Boopkins) of The Anime Arc, a supporting character in SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny, Season 10, The RUclips Arc, Season 11, the Genesis Arc, SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special, the Revelations Arc and SMG4 Movie: REVELATIONS and one of the three main protagonists (alongside Melony and SMG4) of Season 12, being the main protagonist of the second third. She is a hot-headed fighter in SMG4's Gang and a best friend of Meggy Spletzer and Tari. Upon being brought to life by Fishy Boopkins, Saiko suffered from mental instability and evil intentions. Though she was initially villainous towards SMG4's Gang and the Mushroom Kingdom, Saiko decided to be a better person. Since then, she has been much warmer and less psychotic.
Part 3: Melony (MJC): Melony is a minor-turned-main character in the SMG4 series. Melony was a minor character in Season 9, a supporting character in Season 10, one of the secondary antagonists of The RUclips Arc, the deuteragonist of Season 11 and the Genesis Arc, a major character in The SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special, Season 12, the main protagonist of Revelations Arc and a minor character in The Lawsuit Arc. During The RUclips Arc, she joined the Anti-Cast as Meggy Spletzer's doppelganger. Melony and the rest of the Anti-Cast was motivated to turn against SMG3 by SMG4's Gang, and after her former leader's banishment to the Internet Graveyard, she officially joined the gang before eventually being transformed into a human character by the Fierce Deity Mask, granting her sentience and unknowingly, the powers of a God. She would later on use her Fierce Deity powers for the first time and accepting Axol as her love interest, and after the events WOTFI 2021, she becomes a manga artist in concluding her late lover's manga to honoring him and has vowed to stay strong. Prior to becoming human, Melony was depicted as being rather vague and mysterious, due to being an motionless and inert watermelon. However, she could still show emotions to a degree, such as blushing when watching Two Piece with Luigi, or shock after she and the Anti-Cast witnessed Frankie's deletion. She is also vastly intelligent, as she bears a massive talent for hacking, which has helped a lot in the past. During her first scene in SMG4: Mario's Mask Of Madness, Axol was assuring her that she could be best girl, implying that Melony dreams to be as popular as some of the female members of SMG4's Gang. In her human form, Melony develops new characteristics; she is now childish and lazy as she is commonly shown sleeping most of the time, referencing her normal and inactive nature from her past life. She has a bad habit on sleeping on anything that she deems "comfortable", including bushes, other watermelons, and sometimes people. Like her melon form, she is also obedient, responding to any orders that are needed from others. In the beginning Melony was still very tired and sleepy, hardly doing anything and rarely saying anything correctly. But over time she became more active and talkative. In addition, the powers of the mask that she wore awoke in her. In the beginning, she had a mental age of approximately five but at the end of the Revelations Arc she showed a maturity of at least being 18 years old. Bob (MJC): Bob Bobowski is one of the two modern tritagonists (Alongside Fishy Boopkins) of the SMG4 series. Bob is a homeless and idiotic degenerate member of SMG4's Gang who was originally a Garo, and he is also the best friend of Fishy Boopkins. In his early days, Bob was selfish and secretly aimed to be famous, acted like a showoff, and mentally looked down at his friends. He also acted antagonistic at times. For example, during The Rapper Bob Arc, his selfish dreams of fame eventually drove him to become a successful but traitorous rapper, orchestrating events that would make him the greatest rapper in the world. However, his old friends managed to steal his popularity and thus abandoned him for some time. Thanks to Waluigi, he redeemed himself and reconciled with his friends, joining them on many adventures. Bowser (MJC): King Bowser Koopa Sr. (or just Bowser) is the former secondary antagonist-turned-major protagonist in the SMG4 series, serving as one of the two main antagonists (alongside SMG3) of Season 1, one of the three tritagonists (alongside Peach Toadstool and Toad) of Seasons 2 to 6 and a supporting character in following seasons. Bowser is the king and leader of the Koopa Troop army, Mario's former arch-nemesis and the neglectful but also good father of Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings. He constantly aims to kidnap Princess Peach due to an obsession with her, and sometimes tried to rule over the Mushroom Kingdom in the earlier seasons. However, Peach sometimes prefers to be kidnapped rather than dealing with chaos caused by other characters (mostly Mario). Eventually, due to his wacky antics and utter incompetence at villainy, his one-time boss forcibly partnered him with SMG3 to be more effective villains, which only turned out microscopically better, before eventually Bowser became so bad at his job his own minions booted him out of his castle and he eventually just gave up on being evil all together. As the series went on, he developed a love-hate relationship with Mario and SMG4's Gang, often joining them in their adventures, but still sometimes appears in less malicious antagonistic roles, with SMG3 eventually following suite. Axol (RC) (Deceased): Axol was a modern main character in the SMG4 series. He was a humanoid axolotl-creature who was the world's greatest manga artist, born in Inkopolis where he was bullied for his passion for anime, so he moved into Japan where he then rose to fame. He was armed with a magic pen called the Inkweaver, that he used to bring drawings to life for a temporary amount of time. He eventually met SMG4 and his friends, and joined them to convince Peach Toadstool to lift the anime ban and later defeat Francis on Anime Island. He then moved to New Donk City in the Mushroom Kingdom where he joined his friends in multiple adventures. Axol played a major role in SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny, where Meggy’s pride is making her difficult to compete, and he was demoted to a recurring character in late Season 10 and Season 11 before again making major reappearances once more in The Genesis Arc until his death. Axol was a famous manga artist. Despite being popular, he was not highly prideful, but he was very friendly and helpful towards others, including SMG4 and friends, whom he helped in making anime and manga legalized again in the Mushroom Kingdom. Desti (RC) (Deceased): Desti was a recurring character in the SMG4 series. Desti first appeared in If Mario Was In... Splatoon 2 as the main antagonist. In the episode, Mario was helping Meggy train for the next Splatfest. Later, after Mario refused to join her team, she sent her Octoposse after him, which resulted in a fight and rivalry with Meggy. She later resurfaced as one of the two main antagonists in Part 1 of the the Anime Arc before reforming to become the main deuteragonist (alongside Mario) of Part 2, helping the SMG4 gang to save Meggy Spletzer from Francis. However, in the final battle, she was killed from being impaled by False Sephiroth's Masamune, therefore becoming the first major character ever to die in the series. Desti was usually arrogant, vain, and competitive. She was usually represented as a cruel and sadistic bully to Meggy, and she was shocked when she found out that Meggy didn't know who she was. Her goals and personality were seen as rather simple-minded: she only wants to humiliate Meggy and win Splatfests. She was willing to do anything to win, even if she had to forcefully ask people like Mario to team up with her, steal Splatoon weapons from her rivals, or using unfair cheating as a "strategy". She also did not take failure too seriously. Despite this, she was deep-down good-hearted, as she insisted on helping find Meggy after her disappearance, shown to have cared for her teammates and also her remorse over her treatment towards SMG4 and his friends. She claims that she still hates Meggy, but in a friendly way. Shroomy (MNC): Shroomy the Mushroom is a major-turned-recurring character in the SMG4 series. Shoomy is a former resident of the Luncheon Kingdom who was once a crazy demon hunter mushroom until one day on his birthday, Golden Freddy bit his right head which turned him into a brilliant boy scout mushroom. He first appeared in The Mario Channel: MARIO'S CHALLENGE, where he is the first one to enter the elevator, reach the roof and defeat Mario, being the winner of Mario's challenge. Since then, he has appeared in other videos such as SMG4: Mario The Boy Scout, as the highest achieving member of the boy scouts. Shroomy has a "mental disorder" (later revealed to be his original mindset) as a demon hunter, known as Anti-Shroomy, that occasionally returned as of Season 10. During The RUclips Arc, Anti-Shroomy joined the Anti-Cast after helping them get Susan Wojcicki's RUclips Remote, but later he and his fellow members were motivated by SMG4's Gang to turn against SMG3, and after Anti-Shroomy's former leader's banishment to the Internet Graveyard, he reverted back to his normal self.
Part 4: Karen: Karen is a modern recurring character in the SMG4 series, debuting in SMG4: The Mario Documentary. She is an anthropomorphic cat who works at Starbucks as a barista, and in later appearances works as a clerk in various stores throughout the Mushroom Kingdom. Karen debuted in SMG4: The Mario Documentary, working as a barista at a local Starbucks. She gets annoyed by Mario sneaking around her and scared him away with her shotgun. She is then seen again trying to get Mario off the store for trying to camp outside of Sundays but was kicked in the face. She would later send him and his tent to a garbage dump. Karen is shown to be laid-back, shown with her calm general expression, but is overall pessimistic. She also takes her jobs very seriously, to the point that she has to seriously deal with others who annoy her working, such as Mario and is not above using violence as a method of control. Despite this, she seems to be enamored by cuteness, as she took a liking towards JubJub Boopkins in SMG4: Mario Does His Laundry. Despite this, she is shown to not like working; as shown in SMG4: Mario Gets His PINGAS Stuck In Car Door, she was relieved when the store she was working at was robbed and blown up by the Mushroom Robber. In fact, Karen comes off as being rather cynical and a little nihilistic, such as keeping a straight face in many situations that turn out deadly, though she can act with surprise if the action spikes up. But even with a negative outlook on life, she does care for her children, though she does not tolerate her son Zack's antics. Jub Jub (MNC): JubJub Boopkins is a modern recurring character in the SMG4 series. He is the younger brother of Fishy Boopkins and the second son of Joe Boopkins. Although Fishy Boopkins, Karen, and Tari both treated him with love, Mario abused and treated him like a football, frequently kicking him around and yelling, "Kick the baby!". Belle Fontiere (MNC): Belle Fontiere is a modern recurring-turned-minor character in the SMG4 series. Belle makes her first appearance in the episode S̶M̶G̶4̶: I Can't Believe It's Not SMG4! who acts as a doppelganger counterpart to Tari. Like her Meta Runner counterpart, Belle is shown to be both laid-back yet immensely competitive. However, she is more irritable than the original while she still has her insane amount of sass. She is the absolute opposite of Tari, as she acts more aggressively than Tari does and is much less friendly. In addition, she has a right metal arm instead of a left one and has red and orange hair. She's also taller than her. She seems to show a little more empathy than her Meta Runner counterpart, as shown in SMG4 Christmas Special 2020 when Bob (dressed as Santa) tells Tari that he won't get her the limited-edition duck themed PlayStation 5. As a result, Belle threatens Bob from a distance that she will shoot off Bob's balls if he doesn't give Tari what she wants. SMG1 and SMG2 (MNC): SuperMemeGuardian1 and SuperMemeGuardian2, abbreviated as SMG1 and SMG2 or colloquially as One and Two, are two of the three overarching protagonists (alongside SMG0) of the SMG4 series. They are two meme guardians who lived in another universe named the Toytoy Kingdom based on the Newgrounds game "Spudnick's Great Adventure", where they lived and played with their avatar, Spudnick, by going on many whacky adventures together until they were attacked by Eldritch SMG0 (Niles) who they mistook for their predecessor, the real SMG0, resulting in the end of their universe. Initially introduced as two random hobos (known as Hobo 1 and Hobo 2 respectively) who for some reason fanatically worship the number "4" whom they believe will save them from the day of reckoning. Kaizo (MNC): Kaizo Koorumaniru is a major antagonists-turned-supporting protagonist in the SMG4 series, being the unseen overarching antagonist of Season 8, a major antagonists-turned-protagonist in Season 12 (specifically being the main antagonist of the second third of the season and a recurring character in the following third) and a supporting character in Season 13. Created by Jarrad Rumble, Luke and Kevin Lerdwichagul in the 5 million subscribers livestream, he made his first appearance in SMG4: DO NOT ENTER and later his first physical appearance as a 3D model in SMG4: Mario meets a demon and is shortly beheaded and he served as the main antagonist of the said blooper. SMG0: SuperMemeGuardian0, abbreviated as SMG0 or colloquially as Zero, is one of the three overarching protagonists (alongside SMG1 and SMG2) of the SMG4 series. Originally hailing from another universe called Mage, SMG0 and his avatar, Fred, played together until the memes corrupted and the God Box summoned the meme guardian and granted him a partner named Niles. Despite helping them to create the Internet Graveyard, Niles soon became victim to the God Box's power and this led to him accidentally killing Fred, dooming SMG0's universe in the process. SMG0 is as innocent as he is kind-hearted, loving nothing more than playing with his avatar Fred and partner guardian Niles, before the latter began his conquest for the "perfect universe" after being corrupted by the God Box. He is very cheery and always helping those who need it, even if he doesn't know them, showing great generosity and goodwill; such as when he took the unconscious Mario, SMG3 and SMG4 to his home inside of the God Box after their ship crashed in front of him despite the fact that it almost landed on him. Swagmaster6969696969 (SC): Swagmaster696969696969, usually referred to as Swagmaster or Swag, is a major character in the SMG4 series, and one of the two main protagonists (alongside Chris Gordman) of the Guards N' Retards series. He is a (possibly mentally challenged) guard who works at Fresh Spaghetti Tubbie with his friend Chris (although the latter may not consider him a friend). He appears in the Guards N' Retards series and in R64: Mario and the retarded spaghetti factory, as well as reappearing alongside Chris in SMG4: Mario And... The Well and making a cameo in SMG4 Christmas 2018: The Most Important Thing. He and Chris were the main antagonists of SMG4: Mario's Prison Escape. He and Chris were also the secondary antagonists of Part 1 of the Anime Arc before redeeming themselves in Part 2. Outside of his own series, he, along with Chris, became prominent recurring characters during the ninth season of SMG4. Swagmaster is an arrogant, unintelligent, cocky RUclipsr, who tends to be uncaring and mean towards others. He prefers to screw around instead of doing his job, which is one of the main reasons why he and Chris get into so much trouble most of the time as guards working at the spaghetti factory. On some rare occasions where he is focused on the task at hand, he is very resourceful and can get out of many sticky situations with his quick thinking. Chris Gordman (SC): Christopher "Chris" Gordman is a major recurring character of the SMG4 series, and one of the two main protagonists (alongside Swagmaster6969696969) of it's spin-off series Guards N' Retards. He is a security guard who works at Fresh Spaghetti Tubbie in several bloopers. He is Swagmaster6969696969's partner. He, along with Swagmaster, became prominent characters during the ninth season of SMG4. Additionally, he and Swag were the secondary antagonists for Part 1 of the Anime Arc before redeeming themselves in Part 2. Most of the time, Chris acts as the straight man of the Guards N' Retards duo, as he is typically a no-nonsense, hard-working, and grounded individual. However, he does display a noticeable level of reluctance and frustration with both his job and his coworkers; particularly with his partner, Swag. Compared to Swag, Chris is far more intelligent, usually being the one to come up with the plans during a situation, with varying degrees of success. Despite his annoyance with his partner, Chris will sometimes use Swag's idiotic habits to work with his plans. Such examples include announcing a fake "Swag Party" in order to lure Swag to where Chris is after he and Sergeant Mark are captured by the Butt Ninja and his boss; as well as convincing Swag to go flirt with a random woman on the beach so Chris can enjoy his vacation in peace. While Chris can sometimes come off a bitter and spiteful man due to his frustrations, he does occasionally show a more sympathetic side, such as when he was worried about Swag dying after he is assaulted by the Butt Ninja, as well as when he feels guilty for previously yelling at Swag for ruining their vacation. There are also times when he willingly joins in on some of Swag's antics in order to try to relax. There you go. If you read the entire comment in all of its parts, reply with Spaghetti.

There is actually an official SMG4 mod linked in the description of SMG4's 2nd FNF video "if mario was in friday night funkin 2" it replaces 3 songs from the original game, 2 of the songs are from a video on the glitch productions called "if friday night funkin was 3D" which is a crossover video of fnf mixed with one of their original shows: sunset paradise. It also has the mario over BF reskin, tari (oc character in SMG4 series and meta runner) over BF reskin, belle (again from both smg4 series and meta runner) as a reskin over mommy mearest. Those FNF battles ARE in fact actual mods of the game right there! They were created by FM54321, or just FM (one of SMG4's friends who's also a character in the series as a recolor of Mario, though he mostly appeared in the very early episodes, not so much now, but he does work for SMG4 now), and were made specifically for that episode. So those battles you were seeing were actual FNF gameplay from mods specifically made for the sake of making those scenes.

Smg4 is Smg4. You probably shouldn’t treat any era of Smg4 differently from one another. @@Mairusu Yeah, and Meggy was introduced as a Splatoon character, but then she turned into a human during one of the arcs, and got her own voice in another arc. She even got her own original series made by Glitch, though it does require some familiarity with her.

I hope this comment doesn’t get lost, but before you start with arcs, you gotta watch, Smg4 vs Smg3, if Mario was in Splatoon, seaside stupidity parts 1 and 2, can Ganondorf come out to play, and doki doki Mario club, as they serve as introductions to important characters. Then watch the waluigi arc, it’s the first one, then rapper bob, anime and RUclips. Those are important for reasons, then watch the Meggy s destiny movie, Mario and the mask of madness, genesis arc, revelations arc, meme games 2022, then the lawsuit arc. Then check out some of the stuff post wotfi 2022 separately.

Allow me to explain as a SMG4 professional;
There’s original characters in this universe that started debuting in 2016. The one with the green hair you saw is named “Melony” and she was originally an actual watermelon before a Fierce Deity mask was planted onto the watermelon. There are other characters throughout the current (2016-2023) era you’ll get to know too, like Meggy, Tari, Saiko, Belle, Whimpu, who you saw in the last video, and much more. You’ll know which one is which through the subtitles. The series has several story arcs and movies, which both tend to be more serious than regular episodes. Prior to The Lawsuit Arc, which happened earlier this year, SMG4, SMG3, Bob and Fishy Boopkins, who was originally the Mario enemy named Spike, all received redesigns, and then got redesigns of those redesigns after being compared to the characters of Cocomelon. The Genesis and Revelations arcs reveal so much new lore that I can’t even get into details, you’re just gonna have to watch it yourself.

I don’t think new SMG4 is worse, but I see where people are coming from. I personally think it’s that SMG4 used to be more on the original side, content wise. But he kinda became irrelevant. Don’t get me wrong, old SMG4 is good, but I like the newer one better. And newer SMG4 is a little easier to follow what’s happening, and some of the arcs are actually pretty good.

Hello! Long time SMG4 fan here to explain to you all of the characters of SMG4.
Oh, also. Welcome to the brainrot that is SMG4
INDEX:
MJC = Major Character
MNC = Minor Character
RC = Retired Character
SC = Supporting Character
Mario (MJC): Prior to getting zapped by SMG4's Guardian Pod in SMG4: SMG4's Origins, Mario was just like his counterpart from the mainstream Super Mario series; a friendly plumber who helped anyone in need, devoting most of his time to rescuing Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom, and participated in sports matches, kart races, and "partied" often (which are all activities that he still does today, albeit in more crazy ways). However, after he was zapped, his personality changed completely. This made him a lazy, mischievous, foul-mouthed, reckless, idiotic, and occasionally selfish man-child (far more childish than his normal counterpart).
While he truly cares for his friends and family, he seems to care more about only himself and his favorite dish spaghetti, which he is addicted to and refers to it as his girlfriend or wife, and would trade anything (including SMG4's RUclips Account) for it. This addiction went so far that he actually stole spaghetti from other people and almost never shares it with anyone (except for Meggy Spletzer in a rare instance). In fact, the mere thought of losing spaghetti will either drive him insane, make him cry in frustration and even commit suicide (which fails due to him always having extra lives).
Mario's extreme laziness has made him a hater of socializing (though it was temporary) and exercising. He also sometimes refuses to help his friends, family, and other people, even in life-or-world-threatening situations unless convinced, blackmailed, or threatened, making him somewhat of a sociopath with little empathy for others. An example of this is in SM64 Bloopers: Shy Guy Showdown, where he flat-out admitted he did not care if the Mushroom Kingdom was going to be taken over by the Shy Guys, only stopping the takeover out of instinct and the fact that the Shy Guys would destroy the Kingdom's spaghetti supply. Another example is in SM64: Bad Star's Back! 300k Special, where he refused to stop the Ztar from causing chaos in Mushroom City, despite the Ztar's genocidal tendencies. The opposite has occasionally occurred, such as in SMG4: If Mario Was In The Sonic Movie, where he happily agreed to help Sonic avoid getting captured by the government.
Mario is also a rather cruel prankster, as shown in SMG4: The Demon Among Us where he ruthlessly pranked Shroomy in a flashback. The Anti-Shroomy personality did not take these pranks well, claiming it was all the more reason to kill Mario and the others. He is sometimes shown to be just as cowardly as Luigi, usually trying to back down from fights from powerful opponents.
SMG4 (MJC): SuperMemeGuardian4 (formerly known as SuperMarioGlitchy4) abbreviated as SMG4 or colloquially as Four, is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Mario), being the titular one, of the SMG4 series.
He is a formerly amnesiac meme guardian, Mario's guardian and closest ally (rival in the War of the Fat Italians series), the de-facto leader of his gang, and originally SMG3's arch-nemesis. SMG4 has been passionate and protective of his work; that aside, he seems to play the sane man who is often annoyed or shocked by Mario's crazy, flamboyant idiocy. Despite this, they are friends in most episodes, especially in the recent ones. SMG4 enjoys being around the presence of his friends, going on many zany adventures, and fighting great enemies in story arcs. During the Genesis Arc, he started searching for answers about his origins and earned most of his answers in the end, until he put the pieces of the puzzle together and learned the truth behind Eldritch SMG0 at the end of the Revelations Arc. He later becomes an original identity and has an appearance of his own after The Lawsuit Arc.
SMG4 is usually portrayed as either the only sane man at Peach's Castle or (in later seasons) as a stereotypical meme-loving addict.
Luigi (MJC): Luigi Mario (also known as Luigi Luigi) is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Meggy Spletzer), being the classic one, of the SMG4 series.
He is a cowardly green-clad Italian plumber, Mario's younger twin brother/sidekick, an innocent citizen of the Mushroom Kingdom, and a loyal member of SMG4's Gang. He went on many adventures throughout the years and would often be there to handle Mario's shenanigans. Luigi is often a paranoid and easily scared man-child (mainly afraid of Boos), who is often humiliated by his peers. While he does have awesome and courageous moments, they are normally was very rare. He was commonly treated as a joke of bully-victim, being called gay and someone who "nobody cares about".
Despite the arguably cruel way he is normally treated, he is selfless and willing to commit for his friends.
Princess Peach (MNC): Princess Peach Toadstool is a major character in the SMG4 series. She served as one of the three tritagonists (alongside Toad and Bowser) in the classic era and a supporting character in the modern era.
She is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. She owns and rules her own castle, where Mario, SMG4 and SMG4's Gang usually reside in. Despite being the love interest of Mario, she is often enraged by his stupidity when he recklessly destroys everything, usually as an act of karma or punishment to his behavior. Mario often does the same thing to Peach. During The Anime Arc, Peach banned anime in the Mushroom Kingdom and established the Anime Secret Service, but later removed the ban when Axol made her into an otaku. Peach had often been bossy towards SMG4's Gang, acting like a nagging authority figure to them.
During the events of SMG4 Movie: IT'S GOTTA BE PERFECT, Peach got trapped in the sinking castle during its destruction and she was trying to escape from the Demonic Goop as seen in SMG4: Our New Home but unfortunately, she got mutated into a monster due to heavy exposure to the Demonic Goop as of Let's Go Visit Peach!, ultimately becoming one of the secondary antagonists of Season 13.
SMG3 (MJC): A parody character representing the "evil" counterpart of SMG4, SMG3 is known for his schemes to take over the channel and create chaos. He's essentially a rival to SMG4. He serves as the main antagonist of the Classic era and a major antagonist-turned-tritagonist of the Modern era.
Pre-RUclips Arc:
In his first appearances, SMG3 was prone to being a very arrogant, selfish, stubborn, vain, and merciless bad guy who appeared to be an incompetent villain, using useless tricks to defeat his foes, but with very little success. In his later appearances, he began to show a much darker personality, now that he was promoted to being the main antagonist. Despite appearing to be eviler, he continued his incompetent acts and usually tried to do something unusual to save himself, commonly hurting him in the process, yet protecting or enabling him to escape successfully. Like Francis before him, he was also a coward, as he only relied on a strong object to protect himself rather than getting into a physical fight. However, he seems to be better at fighting than Francis without needing to use an overpowered superweapon as he's capable of wielding a katana and bests SMG4 at it.
Like SMG4, SMG3 seemed to be a showoff on Bowser whenever they bother on something they think they are better with. He always desired to do anything that got rid of SMG4 and killing everyone in his path that defends him.
Post-RUclips Arc:
However, SMG3 eventually became comfortable in the Internet Graveyard and even became its ruler, who entertains everyone there with dead trends, which are popular in the graveyard. According to him, the Ancient Memes were taking care of the dead memes there, but they did a crap job at it, which was the reason the Graveyard was a jungle environment. When he arrived, he actually managed to make the dead memes less violent. Having been educated about the meme life cycle, he decides to keep SMG4 alive only because he's the only one who's able to keep the memes tamed in the normal realm, which allows them to go to the Graveyard when they die, where SMG3 cares for them until they become relevant again. Overall, he's currently an anti-hero character who is concerned about the well-being of the dead memes.
Part 2:
Meggy (MJC): Meggy is a jock who enjoys playing sports and going on adventures with Mario and the others. Her main sport of interest being a Turf War, in which her goal is to become the top athlete. She is very competitive as she is willing to take on any challenge that is thrown at her and also has a thirst for victory. An example is in The Mario Channel: MARIO'S CHALLENGE as she seems to care about winning than about the actual prize Mario is offering. She also wanted to win the Splatfest as she was focused on training for it hard and is determined on winning it as she finally gets to do in SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny. She also seems to really like winning challenges as she tries her hardest to try to win them. She also appears to have a strong sense of justice as she graduated as a lawyer in university, and has a desire to fight crime after winning Splatfest.
She is brave, independent, level headed, competitive, enthusiastic, determined, caring, friendly, spunky, energetic, confident, competent, and smart.
Meggy Spletzer is a modern deuteragonist (alongside Luigi), of the SMG4 series and the main protagonist of her spin-off series, Sunset Paradise.
She is a highly competitive athlete in SMG4's Gang who protects herself and her friends from danger. Originally a citizen of Inkopolis, Meggy was obsessed with winning Splatfest, the top Inkling sports competition. Although she started on poor terms with Mario when she escaped from a paint can she was trapped in, they quickly become good friends when he participates in Splatfest with her. As of SMG4: Meggy Moves In, she has moved into the Mushroom Kingdom, now residing in Belmont, Mushroom City, joining SMG4's Gang as one of its most competent and level-headed members. Meggy also plays a central role in the Anime Arc.
The arc ends with her being transformed into a human by The Ink Zuccer 2000, affecting her appearance in all subsequent episodes. For the next few episodes after her forced transformation to a human, Meggy practiced for the final Splatfest to honor Desti, while finding difficulty in being human in SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny. Eventually, she and her Splat Squad successfully defeat Team Killer Ink, finally earning the trophy.
Due to the events in SMG4: War Of The Fat Italians 2020, her Inkling voice was changed, now being voiced by Lizzie Freeman (from 2020 to the 1st half of 2022) and later Elsie Lovelock (as of the 2nd half of 2022), affecting her voice in all subsequent episodes.

Tari (MJC): A character from the "Meta Runner" series, Tari is a skilled gamer with a cybernetic arm. She often brings her gaming expertise into the chaotic world of SMG4.
Tari is an innocent, insecure girl frequently prone to hyperactivity who is a fan of video games, rubber ducks, and cats. She is shown to be a pacifist and often tries resolving problems with words rather than actions. Tari is very skilled with weapons such as guns, but is not very athletic and seems to have low stamina. She appears to be very accident-prone, as she often finds herself getting hurt or in danger. She is also really polite and non-confrontational, as she constantly apologizes for every mistake she has made.
She's a major character in Season 8, the tritagonist of The Waluigi Arc, a major character in The Rapper Bob Arc, Season 9 and The Anime Arc, one of the two tritagonists (alongside Meggy Spletzer) of Season 10, a supporting character in The RUclips Arc and a major character in Season 11, The SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special and the Genesis Arc and one of the main protagonists in SMG4 Movie: WESTERN SPAGHETTI.
Fishy Boopkins (MJC): Fishy Boopkins (usually called Boopkins for short) is one of the two modern tritagonists (alongside Bob Bobowski) of the SMG4 series, serving as the overarching protagonist of The Waluigi Arc, the main protagonist of The Rapper Bob Arc, one of the three deuteragonists (alongside Mario and Saiko Bichitaru) of The Anime Arc, a supporting character in The RUclips Arc and a major character in the Genesis Arc.
He is an amphibious sea creature who is one of the last Boopkins, the other being his father and his younger brother. Fishy and his best friend, Bob Bobowski, have been hanging out with SMG4's Gang on multiple adventures. He is also one of the three biggest otakus (alongside Axol and Tari) of the gang, going so far as to hang out with dakimakura pillows.
Saiko (MJC): Saiko is one of two secondary antagonists-turned-supporting characters (alongside Bob ) in Season 8, a supporting character in The Waluigi Arc, the deuteragonist of The Rapper Bob Arc, a major character in Season 9h, one of the the three deuteragonists (alongside Mario and Fishy Boopkins) of The Anime Arc, a supporting character in SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny, Season 10, The RUclips Arc, Season 11, the Genesis Arc, SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special, the Revelations Arc and SMG4 Movie: REVELATIONS and one of the three main protagonists (alongside Melony and SMG4) of Season 12, being the main protagonist of the second third.
She is a hot-headed fighter in SMG4's Gang and a best friend of Meggy Spletzer and Tari. Upon being brought to life by Fishy Boopkins, Saiko suffered from mental instability and evil intentions. Though she was initially villainous towards SMG4's Gang and the Mushroom Kingdom, Saiko decided to be a better person. Since then, she has been much warmer and less psychotic.
Part 3:
Melony (MJC): Melony is a minor-turned-main character in the SMG4 series.
Melony was a minor character in Season 9, a supporting character in Season 10, one of the secondary antagonists of The RUclips Arc, the deuteragonist of Season 11 and the Genesis Arc, a major character in The SMG4 Movie: 10 Year Anniversary Special, Season 12, the main protagonist of Revelations Arc and a minor character in The Lawsuit Arc.
During The RUclips Arc, she joined the Anti-Cast as Meggy Spletzer's doppelganger. Melony and the rest of the Anti-Cast was motivated to turn against SMG3 by SMG4's Gang, and after her former leader's banishment to the Internet Graveyard, she officially joined the gang before eventually being transformed into a human character by the Fierce Deity Mask, granting her sentience and unknowingly, the powers of a God.
She would later on use her Fierce Deity powers for the first time and accepting Axol as her love interest, and after the events WOTFI 2021, she becomes a manga artist in concluding her late lover's manga to honoring him and has vowed to stay strong.
Prior to becoming human, Melony was depicted as being rather vague and mysterious, due to being an motionless and inert watermelon. However, she could still show emotions to a degree, such as blushing when watching Two Piece with Luigi, or shock after she and the Anti-Cast witnessed Frankie's deletion. She is also vastly intelligent, as she bears a massive talent for hacking, which has helped a lot in the past. During her first scene in SMG4: Mario's Mask Of Madness, Axol was assuring her that she could be best girl, implying that Melony dreams to be as popular as some of the female members of SMG4's Gang.
In her human form, Melony develops new characteristics; she is now childish and lazy as she is commonly shown sleeping most of the time, referencing her normal and inactive nature from her past life. She has a bad habit on sleeping on anything that she deems "comfortable", including bushes, other watermelons, and sometimes people. Like her melon form, she is also obedient, responding to any orders that are needed from others.
In the beginning Melony was still very tired and sleepy, hardly doing anything and rarely saying anything correctly. But over time she became more active and talkative. In addition, the powers of the mask that she wore awoke in her. In the beginning, she had a mental age of approximately five but at the end of the Revelations Arc she showed a maturity of at least being 18 years old.
Bob (MJC): Bob Bobowski is one of the two modern tritagonists (Alongside Fishy Boopkins) of the SMG4 series.
Bob is a homeless and idiotic degenerate member of SMG4's Gang who was originally a Garo, and he is also the best friend of Fishy Boopkins. In his early days, Bob was selfish and secretly aimed to be famous, acted like a showoff, and mentally looked down at his friends. He also acted antagonistic at times. For example, during The Rapper Bob Arc, his selfish dreams of fame eventually drove him to become a successful but traitorous rapper, orchestrating events that would make him the greatest rapper in the world. However, his old friends managed to steal his popularity and thus abandoned him for some time. Thanks to Waluigi, he redeemed himself and reconciled with his friends, joining them on many adventures.
Bowser (MJC): King Bowser Koopa Sr. (or just Bowser) is the former secondary antagonist-turned-major protagonist in the SMG4 series, serving as one of the two main antagonists (alongside SMG3) of Season 1, one of the three tritagonists (alongside Peach Toadstool and Toad) of Seasons 2 to 6 and a supporting character in following seasons.
Bowser is the king and leader of the Koopa Troop army, Mario's former arch-nemesis and the neglectful but also good father of Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings. He constantly aims to kidnap Princess Peach due to an obsession with her, and sometimes tried to rule over the Mushroom Kingdom in the earlier seasons. However, Peach sometimes prefers to be kidnapped rather than dealing with chaos caused by other characters (mostly Mario). Eventually, due to his wacky antics and utter incompetence at villainy, his one-time boss forcibly partnered him with SMG3 to be more effective villains, which only turned out microscopically better, before eventually Bowser became so bad at his job his own minions booted him out of his castle and he eventually just gave up on being evil all together. As the series went on, he developed a love-hate relationship with Mario and SMG4's Gang, often joining them in their adventures, but still sometimes appears in less malicious antagonistic roles, with SMG3 eventually following suite.
Axol (RC) (Deceased): Axol was a modern main character in the SMG4 series.
He was a humanoid axolotl-creature who was the world's greatest manga artist, born in Inkopolis where he was bullied for his passion for anime, so he moved into Japan where he then rose to fame. He was armed with a magic pen called the Inkweaver, that he used to bring drawings to life for a temporary amount of time. He eventually met SMG4 and his friends, and joined them to convince Peach Toadstool to lift the anime ban and later defeat Francis on Anime Island.
He then moved to New Donk City in the Mushroom Kingdom where he joined his friends in multiple adventures.
Axol played a major role in SMG4 Movie: Meggy's Destiny, where Meggy’s pride is making her difficult to compete, and he was demoted to a recurring character in late Season 10 and Season 11 before again making major reappearances once more in The Genesis Arc until his death.
Axol was a famous manga artist. Despite being popular, he was not highly prideful, but he was very friendly and helpful towards others, including SMG4 and friends, whom he helped in making anime and manga legalized again in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Desti (RC) (Deceased): Desti was a recurring character in the SMG4 series.
Desti first appeared in If Mario Was In... Splatoon 2 as the main antagonist. In the episode, Mario was helping Meggy train for the next Splatfest. Later, after Mario refused to join her team, she sent her Octoposse after him, which resulted in a fight and rivalry with Meggy.
She later resurfaced as one of the two main antagonists in Part 1 of the the Anime Arc before reforming to become the main deuteragonist (alongside Mario) of Part 2, helping the SMG4 gang to save Meggy Spletzer from Francis. However, in the final battle, she was killed from being impaled by False Sephiroth's Masamune, therefore becoming the first major character ever to die in the series.
Desti was usually arrogant, vain, and competitive. She was usually represented as a cruel and sadistic bully to Meggy, and she was shocked when she found out that Meggy didn't know who she was. Her goals and personality were seen as rather simple-minded: she only wants to humiliate Meggy and win Splatfests. She was willing to do anything to win, even if she had to forcefully ask people like Mario to team up with her, steal Splatoon weapons from her rivals, or using unfair cheating as a "strategy". She also did not take failure too seriously.
Despite this, she was deep-down good-hearted, as she insisted on helping find Meggy after her disappearance, shown to have cared for her teammates and also her remorse over her treatment towards SMG4 and his friends. She claims that she still hates Meggy, but in a friendly way.
Shroomy (MNC): Shroomy the Mushroom is a major-turned-recurring character in the SMG4 series.
Shoomy is a former resident of the Luncheon Kingdom who was once a crazy demon hunter mushroom until one day on his birthday, Golden Freddy bit his right head which turned him into a brilliant boy scout mushroom. He first appeared in The Mario Channel: MARIO'S CHALLENGE, where he is the first one to enter the elevator, reach the roof and defeat Mario, being the winner of Mario's challenge. Since then, he has appeared in other videos such as SMG4: Mario The Boy Scout, as the highest achieving member of the boy scouts.
Shroomy has a "mental disorder" (later revealed to be his original mindset) as a demon hunter, known as Anti-Shroomy, that occasionally returned as of Season 10. During The RUclips Arc, Anti-Shroomy joined the Anti-Cast after helping them get Susan Wojcicki's RUclips Remote, but later he and his fellow members were motivated by SMG4's Gang to turn against SMG3, and after Anti-Shroomy's former leader's banishment to the Internet Graveyard, he reverted back to his normal self.
Part 4:
Karen: Karen is a modern recurring character in the SMG4 series, debuting in SMG4: The Mario Documentary. She is an anthropomorphic cat who works at Starbucks as a barista, and in later appearances works as a clerk in various stores throughout the Mushroom Kingdom.
Karen debuted in SMG4: The Mario Documentary, working as a barista at a local Starbucks. She gets annoyed by Mario sneaking around her and scared him away with her shotgun. She is then seen again trying to get Mario off the store for trying to camp outside of Sundays but was kicked in the face. She would later send him and his tent to a garbage dump.
Karen is shown to be laid-back, shown with her calm general expression, but is overall pessimistic. She also takes her jobs very seriously, to the point that she has to seriously deal with others who annoy her working, such as Mario and is not above using violence as a method of control. Despite this, she seems to be enamored by cuteness, as she took a liking towards JubJub Boopkins in SMG4: Mario Does His Laundry.
Despite this, she is shown to not like working; as shown in SMG4: Mario Gets His PINGAS Stuck In Car Door, she was relieved when the store she was working at was robbed and blown up by the Mushroom Robber. In fact, Karen comes off as being rather cynical and a little nihilistic, such as keeping a straight face in many situations that turn out deadly, though she can act with surprise if the action spikes up. But even with a negative outlook on life, she does care for her children, though she does not tolerate her son Zack's antics.
Jub Jub (MNC): JubJub Boopkins is a modern recurring character in the SMG4 series.
He is the younger brother of Fishy Boopkins and the second son of Joe Boopkins. Although Fishy Boopkins, Karen, and Tari both treated him with love, Mario abused and treated him like a football, frequently kicking him around and yelling, "Kick the baby!".
Belle Fontiere (MNC): Belle Fontiere is a modern recurring-turned-minor character in the SMG4 series.
Belle makes her first appearance in the episode S̶M̶G̶4̶: I Can't Believe It's Not SMG4! who acts as a doppelganger counterpart to Tari. She is a cyborg gamer and aspiring stage actress, and a former member of the Anti-Cast, thus SMG3's former ally.
Like her Meta Runner counterpart, Belle is shown to be both laid-back yet immensely competitive. However, she is more irritable than the original while she still has her insane amount of sass.
She is the absolute opposite of Tari, as she acts more aggressively than Tari does and is much less friendly. In addition, she has a right metal arm instead of a left one and has red and orange hair. She's also taller than her.
She seems to show a little more empathy than her Meta Runner counterpart, as shown in SMG4 Christmas Special 2020 when Bob (dressed as Santa) tells Tari that he won't get her the limited-edition duck themed PlayStation 5. As a result, Belle threatens Bob from a distance that she will shoot off Bob's balls if he doesn't give Tari what she wants.
SMG1 and SMG2 (MNC): SuperMemeGuardian1 and SuperMemeGuardian2, abbreviated as SMG1 and SMG2 or colloquially as One and Two, are two of the three overarching protagonists (alongside SMG0) of the SMG4 series.
They are two meme guardians who lived in another universe named the Toytoy Kingdom based on the Newgrounds game "Spudnick's Great Adventure", where they lived and played with their avatar, Spudnick, by going on many whacky adventures together until they were attacked by Eldritch SMG0 (Niles) who they mistook for their predecessor, the real SMG0, resulting in the end of their universe. Initially introduced as two random hobos (known as Hobo 1 and Hobo 2 respectively) who for some reason fanatically worship the number "4" whom they believe will save them from the day of reckoning.
Kaizo (MNC): Kaizo Koorumaniru is a major antagonists-turned-supporting protagonist in the SMG4 series, being the unseen overarching antagonist of Season 8, a major antagonists-turned-protagonist in Season 12 (specifically being the main antagonist of the second third of the season and a recurring character in the following third) and a supporting character in Season 13.
Created by Jarrad Rumble, Luke and Kevin Lerdwichagul in the 5 million subscribers livestream, he made his first appearance in SMG4: DO NOT ENTER and later his first physical appearance as a 3D model in SMG4: Mario meets a demon and is shortly beheaded and he served as the main antagonist of the said blooper.
SMG0: SuperMemeGuardian0, abbreviated as SMG0 or colloquially as Zero, is one of the three overarching protagonists (alongside SMG1 and SMG2) of the SMG4 series.
Originally hailing from another universe called Mage, SMG0 and his avatar, Fred, played together until the memes corrupted and the God Box summoned the meme guardian and granted him a partner named Niles. Despite helping them to create the Internet Graveyard, Niles soon became victim to the God Box's power and this led to him accidentally killing Fred, dooming SMG0's universe in the process.
SMG0 is as innocent as he is kind-hearted, loving nothing more than playing with his avatar Fred and partner guardian Niles, before the latter began his conquest for the "perfect universe" after being corrupted by the God Box. He is very cheery and always helping those who need it, even if he doesn't know them, showing great generosity and goodwill; such as when he took the unconscious Mario, SMG3 and SMG4 to his home inside of the God Box after their ship crashed in front of him despite the fact that it almost landed on him.
Swagmaster6969696969 (SC): Swagmaster696969696969, usually referred to as Swagmaster or Swag, is a major character in the SMG4 series, and one of the two main protagonists (alongside Chris Gordman) of the Guards N' Retards series.
He is a (possibly mentally challenged) guard who works at Fresh Spaghetti Tubbie with his friend Chris (although the latter may not consider him a friend). He appears in the Guards N' Retards series and in R64: Mario and the retarded spaghetti factory, as well as reappearing alongside Chris in SMG4: Mario And... The Well and making a cameo in SMG4 Christmas 2018: The Most Important Thing. He and Chris were the main antagonists of SMG4: Mario's Prison Escape. He and Chris were also the secondary antagonists of Part 1 of the Anime Arc before redeeming themselves in Part 2.
Outside of his own series, he, along with Chris, became prominent recurring characters during the ninth season of SMG4.
Swagmaster is an arrogant, unintelligent, cocky RUclipsr, who tends to be uncaring and mean towards others. He prefers to screw around instead of doing his job, which is one of the main reasons why he and Chris get into so much trouble most of the time as guards working at the spaghetti factory. On some rare occasions where he is focused on the task at hand, he is very resourceful and can get out of many sticky situations with his quick thinking.
Chris Gordman (SC): Christopher "Chris" Gordman is a major recurring character of the SMG4 series, and one of the two main protagonists (alongside Swagmaster6969696969) of it's spin-off series Guards N' Retards.
He is a security guard who works at Fresh Spaghetti Tubbie in several bloopers. He is Swagmaster6969696969's partner. He, along with Swagmaster, became prominent characters during the ninth season of SMG4. Additionally, he and Swag were the secondary antagonists for Part 1 of the Anime Arc before redeeming themselves in Part 2.
Most of the time, Chris acts as the straight man of the Guards N' Retards duo, as he is typically a no-nonsense, hard-working, and grounded individual. However, he does display a noticeable level of reluctance and frustration with both his job and his coworkers; particularly with his partner, Swag.
Compared to Swag, Chris is far more intelligent, usually being the one to come up with the plans during a situation, with varying degrees of success. Despite his annoyance with his partner, Chris will sometimes use Swag's idiotic habits to work with his plans. Such examples include announcing a fake "Swag Party" in order to lure Swag to where Chris is after he and Sergeant Mark are captured by the Butt Ninja and his boss; as well as convincing Swag to go flirt with a random woman on the beach so Chris can enjoy his vacation in peace.
While Chris can sometimes come off a bitter and spiteful man due to his frustrations, he does occasionally show a more sympathetic side, such as when he was worried about Swag dying after he is assaulted by the Butt Ninja, as well as when he feels guilty for previously yelling at Swag for ruining their vacation. There are also times when he willingly joins in on some of Swag's antics in order to try to relax.

Those FNF battles ARE in fact actual mods of the game right there! They were created by FM54321, or just FM (one of SMG4's friends who's also a character in the series as a recolor of Mario, though he mostly appeared in the very early episodes, not so much now, but he does work for SMG4 now), and were made specifically for that episode. So those battles you were seeing were actual FNF gameplay from mods specifically made for the sake of making those scenes.

Smg4 is Smg4. You probably shouldn’t treat any era of Smg4 differently from one another. If you do, the least you can do is not cause unnecessary drama by going out of your way to say one era of Smg4 is better than the other.

@@Mairusu Yeah, and Meggy was introduced as a Splatoon character, but then she turned into a human during one of the arcs, and got her own voice in another arc. She even got her own original series made by Glitch, though it does require some familiarity with her.
