My motorcycle lives on the optimate 3 whenever I’m not riding. Stays connected all the months not riding and every night during riding season. Battery has stayed strong as if new and has never failed.
Thanks for sharing!
Every night ? Do u speak seriously ?
The charger can be left connected for long-term battery maintenance. It's totally safe.
I’ve just borrowed one of a neighbour because my car hasn’t moved during lockdown. I will be purchasing my own as soon as my battery allows me to turn the engine over! 👍🏻
That's a good idea! 👍🏻
Hi, I want to ask. An optimate 6 is flashing/blinking fast on 4 lights. What causes that?
Please complete the contact form on our website: optimate1.com/contact/ We are happy to help you!
Optimate 5 ....LED5 lights up and stays solid. How do you determine if the charge is completed (full) or busy with maintenance mode?
Hi! If LED 5 stays solid, it means that the battery is good to go. Of course you can leave the charger connected to the battery for maintenance charge as the charger will only deliver what the battery needs. The charger will never overcharge the battery. Also: If LED 5 flashes when you leave the charger connected, it means that the charger is testing the battery (doing a voltage retention test). For batteries with a good state of health LED 5 should continue to flash for the full 30 minutes period. NOTE: If the charge delivery was less than 12 hours, the test extends until 24 hours has elapsed.
Does this charger also checks amps? Like keep charging when the voltage is 14 but amps are to low?
No, the charger doesn't check amps. The charger charges what is chargeable.
I just bought two 2021 seadoo waverunner and they have the port for your battery charger. I'm having real difficulty picking between the 2 or the 3 and which one is better??? I see they make the x2 in both but is the 3 the newer version? Or which one should I choose? Please help thanks!!
Hi, we recommend one of our DUAL bank chargers (with two outputs): If you have two lead-acid batteries to charge and maintain, our OptiMate 3 x2 bank is perfect for you. However, if you don't know the type of battery inside your vehicles, then we recommend our OptiMate 2 DUO x2 bank charger to charge and maintain both lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries. This video answers all of your questions: ruclips.net/video/dUu2Ch1lH_w/видео.html
Ive just bought this optimate 3 but the gel led is on when its actually a standard battery is it faulty
Hi! The GEL battery icon is located slightly below the LED, it does not match the LED. That LED you're talking about actually indicates that the battery is being charged, whether it's a standard, AGM or GEL battery doesn't matter.
i have this model .. may i ask if this model will also charge my car battery (acid 45ah)?
Yes (technically), an OptiMate 3 can charge your car battery. The only thing is: The OptiMate 3 only has 0.8A of charging power, so it could take him a bit longer to charge the battery. If you want to do it more effectively and faster, we have an OptiMate 5, 6 or 7 platform, that has more charging amps to do it quicker.
My motorcycle came with a trickle charger connector but the battery died can I just connect it with the connection that came with and recharge it ?
Our chargers can only be connected with the OptiMate battery cables, so if it's an OptiMate SAE connector or the OptiMate KET cable then you can make the connection.
Thanks for this explanation. What if the #6 yellow blinking light keeps on coming back on after a 12/24 cycle or unplugging and trying again? I assume this means I need to replace my battery. It was a weak battery, the moto could not turn on, nor could lights turn on. This battery is 6 years old from new purchase date. People here seem to describe Opti 3 saving/reviving their dead, old battery. This is why I am hoping it saves mine. Perhaps it is an unrealistic expectation. Do not get me wrong, I love my Opti 3.
Did you first disconnect your battery from your vehicle's electrical system? If not, make sure to remove the battery from the vehicle and try again. If this doesn't work, your battery can not be sufficiently recovered and the charger can't help it.
@@OptiMate Thanks. I am going to do that. It has been holding a partial charge for a few days at 12.3 volts. I turned it over three times today and will check it tomorrow. I do plan to remove it again and leave it on the Opti 3 for a few days to see if can revitalize it.
Can someone help me please ? My battery only shows the AC power light on and nothing else ...
Hi Koradox, can you first check the battery cable and connections? Check the inline fuse, the O-01 cable and connections.
@@OptiMate well turns out the fuse is blown out... and it seems like i can't pull it out?
The fuse of the charger can't be replaced, but the fuse of the O-01 cable can be replaced: replace it by a new 15A fuse.
@@OptiMate thank your for your reply I managed to get it out with it was really stuck in !
Can these be used on 12V car batteries as well? I see motorcycles are mentioned specifically.
No, this charger is motorcycle specific and is not powerful enough for car batteries.
We have other chargers that can be used for 12V car batteries: optimate1.com/
"equalize" is the same of the "optimization" in models 6 and 7 ? thanks
Bringing cells to equal charge is the optimization step for both models.
@@OptiMate model 5 o 6 has it?
@@OptiMate so .. "equalize", "optimization" and "cell balancing " is the same thing? also which models among ALL model has it? thanks (PS: not clear before buy it which model do what)
Cell balancing is included - and described as 'Cell Balance' - in the steps of our new chargers: OptiMate 5 Select, the upcoming OptiMate 6 Select and upcoming OptiMate 6 12V/24V, OptiMate 7 Select, OptiMate 7 Ampmatic and OptiMate 7 12V/24V. It's another (/ more visually friendly) way to describe the optimization / equalization step for these models, but - yes - it comes down to the same thing.
Only the fist light is on what did this mean
It is the power LED, which only means that the charger is connected to main power. Check your battery connection and if possible remove the battery from the vehicle and use the clamps to connect to the battery. Red to positive and black to negative.
Neat little tool just put one on my summer car today.
Enjoy it!
Just bought one for my bike, was plugged in for a week and it said the battery was OK, however when I went for a ride today the battery died on me and left me stranded. The battery was probably old and neglected as I've never changed it from the previous owner, hopefully I have much better luck with my new battery!
I should have checked the voltage of the other battery just to make sure, but I was being lazy and figured just plugging it in would be fine. (=
Sometimes old batteries can be charged and so the charger shows a green light, but those batteries may have lost their CCA capacity to start a motorcycle engine multiple times. You can know this for sure using a TA20 tester.
@@OptiMate So, the tester would tell me what exactly? Same thing as a voltmeter? Whether to keep or toss my battery?
Hi, Jishurida: ruclips.net/video/XDuaz-NlQo8/видео.html
Thank you optímate love your products
Thank you for this wonderful comment! Glad you like them!
What if light 4 is flashing the charge light is flashing orange/yellow which ever
Hi, you probably have the older OptiMate 3+ version? If so, then the flashing yellow LED indicates that bulk charging is over and the LED then flashes during charge verification cycle. The model in this video doesn't have a flashing yellow LED.
Wtf does the save light mean???
If lamp 3 (save light) lights, your battery needs to be 'saved' (because the voltage has dropped too low) before it can be charged normally. The charger will automatically start charging the battery once the battery has been successfully saved.
@@OptiMate Oh I see thank you for the information. The light indeed changed from "save" to "Charge" but it's been charging for 2 days and it's only at 50%.
Remove the battery from the vehicle and try again. It might be that the vehicle is draining the battery.
Won’t charge battery
Hello, which LEDs are on? Have you tried removing the battery from the vehicle first and then connecting the charger?
Thank you
You're welcome!
Brilliant
🙌
Lamp 5 just just blinking
Hi! The charger is testing the battery. On our recent models lamp 5 lits steady, on the older models (SP) testing is indicated by flashing/blinking.
