I have my T114 up and running in Reston, VA USA. Only on the air a few hours but building up a node list. I have a Bender case on order and is in the Royal Post heading my way. I have use a magnifying glass to see the text. Sure hope that gets changed in the next software release. I'm on 2.4.2 now.

Just received my T114 with gps from Ali Express yesterday, now just waiting on the Rook Pro T114 case & Toothpick Antenna to arrive as this will be my mobile solution, while my Heltec V3 plugged in constantly at home as my base.
I would hold off buying one for now due to a presumed hardware issue when txing messages longer than 40 chars. The issue isserious enough for the firmware to be pulled from the Meshtastic firmware site.
You can very easily switch polarity on the connector by lifting a tab and sliding the wires out and then pushing them back in the way you want them. No soldering required.

Yes; the display, and GPS full power is a switchable line (labelled: 'Ven') controlled by the onboard LDO. This line also switches the power to the onboard NeoPixels (there are two!) and is available on the edge connector so you can also de-power peripherals like I2C keyboards and environmental sensors etc. It's software controlled so I guess we may need to wait for software support to get refined to really use this effectively. The GPS also has a permanent VCC line so it can low-power sleep and fast wake etc. I just spent half an hr looking at the schematic; this board looks really well designed from an electrical point of view.
Thanks for a great review! You know what would also be great? If you make a video showing how to upgrade the firmware of the Heltec Capsule Sensor V3. It's not as straightforward as it looks (at least to me). Does your Capsule still work?
@andy kirby: Do you know what type of voltage solar panel it will accept? I cant find any info on this, battery says 3v to 4.2v but nothing for the solar panel input, I would have though 5v but that's a guess.

My T114 stopped working yesterday. I can push reset twice and get it back into disk load mode and it shows up on my computer without a problem. But the Meshtastic software is gone, just the three preloaded files are showing up on it. And when I try to reload it but dragging the Meshtastic software back onto the dish, it starts to load it, but stops and ejects the dish from the computer. It never loads. The only thing it is doing is the lights behind the user and reset buttons are blinking. Anyone have any ideas what is happening? Thanks
You really need to do a beginners video. There’s a lot of people who are interested in this but nobody and I mean nobody on RUclips is showing a beginner video how to get started. Can we use an old phone that were no longer having hooked up to a service provider is there anyway to disable the GPS coordinates because I don’t want anybody knowing where I live.
@@bluenetmarketing I don't need support. I hardly use apps, and the ones I do use I can download from other sources for free. As long as I can phone people, and take photos it does everything I need.
The lease function is pretty simple I lease out sets and will often find that customers can be quite adept at delaying the return of sets so they can have extra days without paying. I have in the past resorted to driving by a customer site and using a "kill" tone to disable leased sets, but this is not always convenient. It also means that "lost" sets are quickly useless, and when it is known in advance that sets will auto-brick, it discourages such "accidental misplacement" of radios. Sure I bill them the full cost of replacements, but there is the hassle of buying and programming new ones, and it may leave me short on stock for other customers until replacements are ready, not to mention the problem of people who are slow to pay, or even outright avoid doing so.

Great video! I would love to see a power consumption comparison between the latest and older Heltec devices, while running Meshtastic.
btw Andy and all, when adding the gps module, the gps antenna suffers ALOT being inside this case. I had to mount it outside the case to make it work.

Wish they would use SMA connectors, I know they are much bulkier, but those U.FL connections are crap
The reason why the GPS has 8 lines and not just the usual 4 is that it has reset, interrupt (wake) and power saving mode selection on the other pins.

Looks like the exact same form factor as the V3 so it should go into V3 cases.

Were do you get the batteries with the right connectors with the correct polarity? (no soldering)

The memory seems to similarly spec'd to the RAK4631, so it probably won't run the Store and Forward module that the ESP32 are capable of?
How do you get solar connected to it directly? Does it have a build in solar charging circuit?

Some issues with the T114 software and how many characters you can send at max power. Anyone here have that problem?

There's an erase firmware that erases the whole flash contents... worth a try... I'll try to find it.
