Could you have coloured the paper before punching out your circles? Or would the dust harm the mechanism? Just thought you could speed up the process...cheers
What a wonderful idea. I love how they shimmer when you turned the cake. It looks amazing. You have great ideas and they are all different. Such variety 🙂
Hi! I’m a big fan so please pin my comment. You are amazing and your videos help me bake a lot better so thank you so much and I’m so glad I found this channel. Also, the cake looks really good and you definitely are amazing at cooking
Hi, can you tell me which cake tins you use. I'm wanting to buy all new ones but would appreciate your advice. I'm going to make one of your cakes for my daughter later this month x
I love the idea of making them look like fish scales, I think this would work perfectly. In regards to buttercream wafer paper soaks up any moisture, so there is a possibility it would soak up any moisture in the buttercream. Because of this I usually just add wafer paper onto fondant covered cakes.
Can I luster dust the entire wafer paper before punching the circles out? Also if i don't have edible glue how much water would I use behind the circles to attach to the cake? Thank you
Hi Melinda, Yes you can definitely dust the whole sheet before cutting out the circles. This would be a great way to speed it up a little more. In regards to the water you would only need a small amount. Just hold the wafer paper in place until it has stuck. The water will make the wafer paper goes sticky.
Looks beautiful. Need patients colouring all those circles tho. I found myself using cake dummies a lot recently. Some friends and family have been wanting 3 and 4 tier cakes for only 10 or 20 people not realising that it's a LOT of cake. Far too much so dummies have been useful
Some people have mentioned dusting the whole sheet before cutting out the circles which is a fantastic idea for speeding up the process of colouring them. I didn't think of that at the time.

Great tutorial. I love effect the wafer paper and the luster dust technique give the cake. If your client asks is it edible and does it have a taste? The only thing to make this tutorial better Lnyz would be if it was purple 💜 lol. You know me can't resist. I have to tell you I was having a really crappy day till I saw the tutorial from you waiting. You always brighten my darkest day . Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜
Hi Lorraine, Thank you so much. I always love lustre dust on wafer paper as it goes so shimmery. In regards to taste I find it still just tastes like wafer paper, you can't taste the lustre dust and wafer paper doesn't have much of a taste anyway. I'll definitely have to do another purple cake soon. I hope you have a nice week ahead x x

Very simple, but a nice result.
Thank you for doing a tutorial with wafer paper 🌹👍🏻

My thoughts as well
I don't think it would harm it but it would be hard to clean the dust off of the whole puncher.
Looks awesome! How are the dots to eat? Or would you pick them off?
I personally really like eating wafer paper, it just dissolves in your mouth as you eat it, so you wouldn't need to pick them off.
Pretty! You could totally use those wafer circles in teal shades to create a mermaid themed cake!
They would look amazing in teal. Definitely perfect for creating a mermaid themed cake 😁
Wafer paper gets wet, sticky and non sturdy on a buttercream cake. Is it only suitable onto fondant?
Beautiful idea and effect! Would it work if you color the wafer paper first then hole punch? Or will the handling change the color 🤔

can i use this edible wafer paper on buttercream cake?
I love this idea!! I was going to suggest fish scales, but I see someone already did 😊 Do you think you could put them on a buttercream covered cake?
