  • Today has been the busiest day I have seen it here on the Front Range Subdivision. Starting at around 6am this morning, the first of several northbounds began showing up. A first one was a Minnequa, CO coal empty led by BNSF 9186. Our second train was the daily Denver, CO to Laurel, MT Manifest, but with some very nice cargo on the head end. Five Boeing Fuselages and windmill motors make a great appearance on the DENLAU. However, the conductor on the DENLAU noticed added axles to the train, they contacted field support and the dispatcher for assistance. The train stopped at Longs Peak so the conductor inspect the extra cars that were added to the train, but not the car list. After getting everything sorted out and a new wheel being sent to the printer in Fort Collins, the DENLAU continued on their way.

    These are BOEING 737's fuseloges that are made in Witchita Kansas and shipped to final assembly at Renton Wash. They have bee doing this for over 30 years, Boeing is ramping up production to 40 a month.

    @author That was the conductor. He had to go back and get the car numbers off of those high wides. For example, the windmill cars behind the planes. Denver didn't send them the right work order so the dispatcher needed to get the car numbers and make sure they were okay to continue north. Then they had to get a new work order at Fort Collins.

    The flat cars carrying the 2 white "boxes", are carrying the turbines. Those "boxes" house the electrical generating equipment. And the aircraft fuselage units, are built in Wichita, Kansas, by Spirit Aerospace, under license to Boeing. Wichita, Kansas - Aircraft Capital of the World.

    Around 2:30 and 3:00 a guy gets off the front locomotive and walks down the RR right-of-way for a while, then comes back. Any idea what he was doing? Track problems? Too much traffic up ahead? A problem with one of the cars? Little boys room? Something else?
    LOL! The one dog around 3:27 wanted to check out the camera.

      @thomasboese3793 9 лет назад

      Absolutely they do!
      The daily dump is the worst job on the railroad. Every locomotive in use gets inspected every 24 hours. {This is the reason you see BIG-LONG power moves each way each day from where the loco is needed and where the loco is inspected.} Some Yellow-Hat {helper} gets to pump out the holding tanks as part of the inspection. Its a bit like playing Bingo... You never know if the crew used it or not and you don't know if they used the one in the lead loco or walked back a unit or two.

    • @Rycam113
