Hey, hello! One of the newbie subscribers, and I'm pretty unfamiliar with Prog. I'm halfway through listening to the record for the first time and have to say that Uriah Heep's "Demons and Wizards" sounds amazing! Thanks for this top ten list!
I'll admit, I've been micro-influnced by the prog corner 😂. Congrats on the channel growth, you are entertaining and it's well deserved. I have discovered some new to me bands via this channel and enjoy comparing my personal rankings with yours... verrryyy interested to hear the Tull ranking! My favourite prog band of all time hands down let's gooooo 🤟
Great job Sir, I think one of the reasons why your YT channel is succesful is because you're having what we call in French ''joie de vivre communicative'', yip Fragile is also a part of the 10 or 15 records I listen to the most as IMHO ''Heart of The Sunrise'' is such an incredible piece of the early prog rock era. I look forward to your Jethro Tull ranking, cheers from Canada
Hi Scott! Congrats for the 5K subscribers, but you deserve much more and you will achieve it!!!! "Through the Past, darkly" was one of the first albums that I bought with my money in 1973, when I was 13 years old. That's when I became a huge Stones fan. I used to play this great albums (although it is difficult to make the list): Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin Exile on Main Street - Rolling Stones Fragile / Relayer - Yes Piece of Mind - Iron Maiden Animals - Pink Floyd Selling England by the Pound - Genesis Thick as a Brick / Minstrel in the Gallery - Jethro Tull Slide It In - Whitesnake Moving Pictures / Permanent Waves - Rush Rising - Rainbow Mob Rules - Black Sabbath Pain Killer - Judas Priest
Genesis live is one of my favourites too! Demon's and Wizards is epic also! Huge congrats on nearly hitting 5k subs you should be very proud Scot! Love the prog corner! Will look forward to that Tull video! Peace in the middle east brother! :) ☮️📀💗✌️
Congrats on the 5k... keep marching man, you are a blessing! Kansas Leftoverture is far an away my most played LP. Probably the first prog cassette I ever owned and I just wore out that tape. Then I bought the LP and wore that thing out too. Got into their first album a little later and what a monumental debut LP that thing was.... I also listened to that Genesis Live album about a million times, so much so that it took a long time to re appreciate the studio versions of those songs because they are so killer on the live album. In fact, I just purchased the 2 CD test pressing of this album which includes Supper's Ready and the Supper's Ready story. Just phenomenal stuff! Keep up the great work, can't wait for the day I see you on SOT!
Hi Scott! 15 year old prog fan here. I haven’t seen any of your videos about the album “War of the Worlds” by Jeff Wayne (can be considered prog) and I’m wondering your thoughts about it. Also wanted to say congrats for hitting 5k as being one of your newest subscribers!
I should do an episode dedicated to that Jeff Wayne masterpiece!!! I think I’ve only mentioned it one time on the channel - IN 18 MONTHS!!! Time to change that…
Hey scot congrats on all your new subscribers you deserve it I gotta agree with you demons and wizards is the heeps greatest album genesis live and fragile are also my go to albums love your videos just keep on doin what your doin
My best friend had a Push Button Start, Glossy Red '64 Dodge Dart Slant 6 that heavily rotated Fragile and Sweet Freedom that led to me listening to you and your thriving channel. 🦓
Excellent album set! Love the "Ten + Taxes" Most Played Records 😄. I'm telling you, this is The Summer of Prog! We're in weird times, which means we all must listen to weird art! Peace & Love & Prog!
I’m glad it’s a single album. Translation: I’m glad Supper’s Ready wasn’t on there. It really gave me something to look forward to!!! Because once I heard Foxtrot, all bets were off…
Great stuff. "The Ikon" kicks... especially with headphones. And... The first "Kansas" album is a classic... I bought it as a teenager '70's... it kicks, too. Peace on earth.
I can totally understand “ Utopia “ being one to hear on a religious basis. I certainly have. And earlier today I just saw where Uriah Heep released an album this year. I can appreciate their longevity but I seriously can’t imagine it being anywhere near as good as “ Demons and Wizards. “
You always have great picks Scott for those favorite albums you hear more. The debut album of Kansas is an album I listen a lot, although I like some others by the band that are excelent.Another album that I always hear, one of my favorite is:"Surrealistic Pillow" by Jefferson Airplane, and "Morrison Hotel" by the Doors and some others. The list can be long.
Van Der Graaf Generator for me Scot. World Record. Especially Meurglys III The songwriter's guild. Got to be so careful not to over- play any music im in love with though. Completely agree with you on Genesis Live '73. Obsessed with that , and my 2nd ever Prog purchase after Marillions Real to Reel. As a teenager was obsessed with the Fish era. Someone recommended "old Genesis" , and the rest is history. Great video Scot 😍
Always entertaining Scot! Congrats on the success of your channel! Glad to see an album from your and my favorite band made the list. My most listened to album which is my favorite album of all time is 'Close to the Edge'. I don't know what it is about that album but I listen to it at least 2 to 3 times a week. 2 or 3 times 52 weeks times 51 years is a lot of listens. Anyway, looking forward to your Jethro Tull review coming up! Cheers!🤩
Yes Fragile is another banging SYEOR pressing that I recently picked up. Although, I've been into Yes since the early 80's. Drama is probably my fav Yes album, and saw them in Toronto in 1984 90125 album tour. A guy in a record shop said Drama was the best "heavy metal" record ever made. 😉. That Genesis Live album is also one of my all-time fav's. Been looking for a clean copy of that on vinyl for a while now. Thanks for the vids!
My list, no order, an album per artist. Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon Dire Straits 1st album Television - Marquee Mon The Smiths - The Queen is Dead Waterboys - The whole of the moon Supertramp - Crisis? What Crisis? Don MacLean - American Pie Neutral Milk Hotel - In a aeroplane over the sea Steely Dan - Can't buy a thrill Jethro Tull- Songs from the wood The Chameleons - Strange Times Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Gang of Four - Entertainment! Peter Murphy - Deep Keith Jarrett - Koln Concert
Well, here are mine. That was hard to do because there are many I go back to and listen to over and over. In no particular order because it is impossible to keep track. IQ-Subterranea, The Flower King's-Space Revolver, Yes-Drama and Tormato, Genesis-Foxtrot and The Lamb, Triumvirat-Illusions on a Double Dimple, Spock's Beard-The Light, Citizen Cain-Somewhere But Yesterday, Veni Domine-Fall Babylon Fall, Glass Hammer-The Inconsolable Secret. Yeah, I know, that's 11. I cheated too! Congrats, on the soon to achieve 5000. Wishing you much success on the channel in the near and distant future. Prog on!
Funny you should mention "Genesis Live". That would probably make my top 20 cut of most played. I run this private column on Facebook about all the great records released in 1973. So far I have come to 15, and "Genesis Live" is for the time being the last one. I'm not going to bother anyone by posting it here, it's not my show after all, but it's a very important piece of music to me. It was my first introduction to early Genesis and my love for it has not fainted. It's one of the records that shaped me. I could say the same for "Fragile" as well. Another first love that will follow me to my grave. Love that Kansas album and Utopia to death as well.
1- Yes : Close to the edge 2- Return to Forever : Romantic Warrior 3- Mahavishnu Orchestra : Between nothingness and eternity 4- ELP : Tarkus 5- Slayer : Decade of aggression 6- Iron Maiden : Seventh son of à seventh son 7- Dream Theater : Images and Words 8- Stravinsky : The rite of spring ( Boulez Sony) 9- UK : Danger Money 10- Stanley Clarke : Schooldays 11- Kansas : Kansas
Stones, Heep, Todd, Yes, Kansas...all among the collection. Thanks for reminding me about the Stones one. That's way ass back there, but oft played parce ce que mein bruder. Listening to it now. "Mother's Little Helper"! :) I had no idea at the time what that was about. "1000 Light Years from Home" was pretty damn far out. Like "Continental Divide", which may be their best song. Heep's Rain was awfully pretty. "Sweet Lorraine" and "Wizard" too. My intuitive sense at the time was that they were progish, although more willing to lean commercial, yet not so much as later Genesis, say. May your fine and groovy show continue to grow and flourish.
Maybe because it has two of the greatest songs ever written on it: Turn Of The Century and Awaken (of course.) But the other three tracks are awesome too!!! Man, I remember when that came out - it was one of the happiest days of my life. A new album from my favorite band. I got into Yes right after Relayer so it was my “first” Yes release…
They are probably among the first albums that I received ou bought (in alphabetical order) : Association, The - And Then Along Comes… Atkins, Chet - Teensville Beach Boys, The - Summer Days… Beach Boys, The - Wild Honey Cyrkle, The - Red Rubber Ball Four Seasons, The - New Gold Hits Jan & Dean - Popsicle Lewis, Gary - Paint Me A Picture Soul Survivors, The - When The Whistle Blows… T-Bones, The - No Matter What Shape…
Clearly this topic lends itself to old records that have been around to play a lot of times. Interesting list. I'll give this a shot quickly hear off the top of my head. I'll limit to one per artist. 1. Ambrosia - debut 2. Steely Dan - Countdown to Ecstasy 3. Traffic - Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys 4. Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy 5. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here 6. Sea Level - On the Edge 7. Bachman Turner Overdrive - II 8. Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies 9. Heart - Dreamboat Annie 10. Bob Seger - Night Moves HM. Little Feat - Waiting for Columbus Album sides would be another interesting list. Like side one of Rundgren's Initiation. In vinyl days I frequently had favorite album sides where only one side was hot. ;)
It’s in my Top 20 “most listened to.” For sure. The problem with Rush was that there are seven albums that I listened to NONSTOP: from Caress Of Steel to Signals!!! But AFTKs makes my Top Ten favorites.
Interesting a GBV fan saying that's the one they listen to the most. It's seems like Do The Collapse would be probably some of the lest popular with fans. Many fans are not a fan of the production. I kinda agree with Teenage FBI, sounds more like The Cars than GBV. First time I saw them was on this tour, a lot of these songs I heard live for the first time. I will always have soft spot for it in my heart, but I'm still obsessed with the Propeller to Alien Lanes run. What is your favorite GBV album?
I’m all about Bee Thousand. My wife is all about Alien Lanes. I personally love every era of the band. Here’s my ranking video. It’s a year old so it’s missing a few: ruclips.net/video/mPJ7MF42WjQ/видео.html
That's right I saw someone post it in the GBV Facebook group, watched it a while back. Yeah I saw that video, kinda sad seeing Sandbox that low but kinda the usual, it would be in my top 10 for me. Are you in the main GBV Facebook group?
Seconds out The Wall London’s Calling Made in Japan Led Zep 1 Probably my most played albums on vinyl, on CD definitely be Van Morrison, beautiful South , T. rex , Bowie , culture club , soft cell , easy listening bands .
For me, the most played albums would have to be from Pink Floyd and Roger Waters, led by The Wall and Amused To Death, with the latter being one of the most underrated albums of all time.
@@TheProgCorner Unbelievable that in the 80's that groups like Maiden played all over the UK. I think I've seen them 4 times, definitely saw them on the 'Somewhere in/on Time/Tour also which had an incredible futuristic set. Haven't seen them since 1993 where I saw them at Birmingham NEC and Dickinson's supposedly last tour x
MAIDEN! Saw them 5 times, back in the day, Number of the Beast tour first, then the next four tours. Always a great show! (how and when did I get this old? lol!)
Cool, Do The Collapse is an underrated masterpiece. Ocasek is a genius and what he brought to gbv is something that encourages a start ti finish dive. I need to give Kansas a proper listen, growing up in the midwest i never had to seek out Kansas, its suffused in the airwaves. But radio is fickle and plays just 2 songs over and over again. I need to give Kansas a proper start to finish listen.
He sure is!!! I don’t know why I jumped on the Ryo Okumato connection but it was the first thing that came to mind. But yeah. Lyle is pretty much amazing.
Start a new trend. Top ten most played artists. If you own 2k+. and have listened to tens of thousands of love more than one release of an artist. Here's my ten artists. Bruce Hornsby. Jakko jakszyk Victoria Williams. Lilac time. Adrian belew and the bears Roy Harper Roger Whittaker porcupine tree Scott walker spirit.
I was at the very gig (18:years old, I went on my Triumph Bonneville)of the Manchester side of Genesis Live, the only time I saw them do Suppers ready and I saw them at Friars in Aylesbury.. Home self titled, Argus, Nicely out of tune Lindisfarne, Tea for the Tillerman, Tarkus, Foxtrot, Rockin the Fillmore Humble pie, Rainbow Rising, Roxy Music self titled and Fire and Water Free....
Most played? Hmmm...a few of these are albums I once enjoyed, but am a bit tired of, and not necessarily prog albums, but 1) and 2) are prog(and my two absolute favorite albums ever), and are still regular listens, along with 3) 1)Kansas: Song For America 2)Supertramp: Crime Of The Century 3)Boston: Debut 4)Eagles: Hotel California(tired of this one, but, in the 1970s-1990s, a regular listen) 5)Dan Fogelberg(RIP)/Tim Weisberg: Twin Sons Of Different Mothers( a mostly instrumental album, listen to it as a change of pace now instead of regularly) 6)Dave Brubeck: Take Five(enough said) 7)Steely Dan: Aja(now prefer Royal Scam and Countdown To Ecstasy) 8)Jackson Browne: Hold Out(just don't care for him anymore) 9)Genesis: 1983 self-titled(prefer Selling England By The Pound & albums through Duke now) 10)Tears For Fears: Songs From The Big Chair(still love this one, but have to be in the mood for it now) Numerous greatest hits compilations and live albums, soundtracks from Saturday Night Fever and FM are honorable mentions

2. Steely Dan - Countdown to Ecstasy
3. Traffic - Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys
4. Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
5. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
6. Sea Level - On the Edge
7. Bachman Turner Overdrive - II
8. Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies
9. Heart - Dreamboat Annie
10. Bob Seger - Night Moves
HM. Little Feat - Waiting for Columbus
Album sides would be another interesting list. Like side one of Rundgren's Initiation. In vinyl days I frequently had favorite album sides where only one side was hot. ;)
How did I know what your number one was going to be??? Excellent list!!! I love Sea Level.
@@TheProgCorner Yeah, I kinda beat that one to death don't I. My top three are in a virtual dead heat there. Take care, Scot.
Be safe out there!!!
Brilliant set of albums here
Thank you, Dave!!! 👍👍👍
THANK YOU MAN ! YOU PUT A SMILE ON MY FACE😄❤
You are awesome!!!! 👍👍❤️❤️
Good inspiration Thx!
Thank you!!!!
Farewell to Kings is my number 1
It’s a year old so it’s missing a few:
ruclips.net/video/mPJ7MF42WjQ/видео.html
That's right I saw someone post it in the GBV Facebook group, watched it a while back. Yeah I saw that video, kinda sad seeing Sandbox that low but kinda the usual, it would be in my top 10 for me. Are you in the main GBV Facebook group?
I am but I’m so rarely on Facebook these days!!!
Seconds out
The Wall
London’s Calling
Made in Japan
Led Zep 1
Probably my most played albums on vinyl, on CD definitely be Van Morrison, beautiful South , T. rex , Bowie , culture club , soft cell , easy listening bands .
Oh, so close to 5k! You deserve it my friend.
Why are so many on RUclips doing a "my most played" recently?
It’s just bizarre. But I had to put my two cents worth into the mix!!!
Yes, but yours is one I pay most attention to my friend.
Nice!!!!!!
For me, the most played albums would have to be from Pink Floyd and Roger Waters, led by The Wall and Amused To Death, with the latter being one of the most underrated albums of all time.
Amused To Death is my second favorite PF solo album (I rate Wet Dream a bit higher…)
Hello.
Really like how you have your records displayed.
Are they stacked front to back?
And do you use something to prop them up from behind?
I store all my DVDs behind them!!! And they are useful in keeping the records upright. Dual purpose. 👍👍👍
I'd love to see a Beatles ranking video from you!
That would be fun!!! I love The Beatles. Everybody loves The Beatles!!!
"The ignorance of man will reach an eeeend!!"
I miss Robbie Steinhardt. What a voice. He and Steve made vocal magic. RIP.
I saw Iron Maiden on their Piece of Mind tour, De Montfort Halls, Leicester x
That must have been insane!!!
I saw them last year for the first time. Crazy!!!
MAIDEN! Saw them 5 times, back in the day, Number of the Beast tour first, then the next four tours. Always a great show! (how and when did I get this old? lol!)
Right???
Cool, Do The Collapse is an underrated masterpiece. Ocasek is a genius and what he brought to gbv is something that encourages a start ti finish dive. I need to give Kansas a proper listen, growing up in the midwest i never had to seek out Kansas, its suffused in the airwaves. But radio is fickle and plays just 2 songs over and over again. I need to give Kansas a proper start to finish listen.
I’m such a huge fan of their debut. Before the fame. Before the hits!!!! And long live Robert Pollard. He’s still awesome!!!
@@TheProgCorner listening to it now, excellent. I play violin so I appreciate the instrumentation.
Awesome Scot you rock!!
Thank you!!! YOU rock.
AWATS is probably my #1. Just so you know...Lyle Workman is all over two Todd albums...Nearly Human and Second Wind. Todd as band leader.
He sure is!!! I don’t know why I jumped on the Ryo Okumato connection but it was the first thing that came to mind. But yeah. Lyle is pretty much amazing.
Did you ever do a 20 worst prog album episode ?!?!!
You want me to rank the Magma albums??? Ha ha. No, but I’m finding people like the negative stuff as much as the positive so…
KC - Lizard?
@@TheProgCorner Id love a Magma Ranking !
That would mean listening to them all. Maybe one day. Zeuhl just flies over my head.
Red is my most played KC album.
Greetings Scot....YES URIAH HEEP. Iron maiden KANSAS whoo hoo.... Rock on Dude. Best MUSIC on RUclips...thank you ✌️✌️💥
You’re the best!!!! 👍👍👍
All good choices, though I never got with the Clash. I always felt they were just a fabricated band like the Sex Pistols, but not as good.
I have no idea why I love them so much. But I do!!!
@@TheProgCorner That's as good a reason as any!
Music is weird like that. We all have a strange “blind spot.”
That's a hot 10 (11). Once you get to 5000 don't go up any tall buildings!
I’ll keep that in mind!!!
GBV! GBV! GBV! Are You Ready To Rock?!!!
by the way,
Shouldn't all Gabriel/Genesis fans love GBV?
Hey, let’s throw the great party
Today for the rest of our lives
Nice top 3.
Doesn’t get a whole lot better than Yes, Genesis and Kansas!!!
You are correct. Respect. ☮💟
Respect and Love from Ohio!!!
Cool 😎 I'm in KC
@@TheProgCorner Listening to "A Venture" by Yes at this moment. Music is my meditation. And Prog?.....Chef's Kiss!!!!🧑🍳💋
I never thought I’d see the day where Roger Whittaker and Scott Walker get mentioned in the same sentence…
@@TheProgCorner they aren't all that different. I love both their voices. Saw Roger twice
Wow!!!
Doing the math, it means that for the last ten years you've listened to Tales from Topographic Oceans 120 times. How do you find the time?
No kids!!!!
I'm pretty sure you can guess mine...
Hey 👋🏼
👍👍👍
I was at the very gig (18:years old, I went on my Triumph Bonneville)of the Manchester side of Genesis Live, the only time I saw them do Suppers ready and I saw them at Friars in Aylesbury.. Home self titled, Argus, Nicely out of tune Lindisfarne, Tea for the Tillerman, Tarkus, Foxtrot, Rockin the Fillmore Humble pie, Rainbow Rising, Roxy Music self titled and Fire and Water Free....
Fantastic!!!!
Most played? Hmmm...a few of these are albums I once enjoyed, but am a bit tired of, and not necessarily prog albums, but 1) and 2) are prog(and my two absolute favorite albums ever), and are still regular listens, along with 3)
1)Kansas: Song For America
2)Supertramp: Crime Of The Century
3)Boston: Debut
4)Eagles: Hotel California(tired of this one, but, in the 1970s-1990s, a regular listen)
5)Dan Fogelberg(RIP)/Tim Weisberg: Twin Sons Of Different Mothers( a mostly instrumental album, listen to it as a change of pace now instead of regularly)
6)Dave Brubeck: Take Five(enough said)
7)Steely Dan: Aja(now prefer Royal Scam and Countdown To Ecstasy)
8)Jackson Browne: Hold Out(just don't care for him anymore)
9)Genesis: 1983 self-titled(prefer Selling England By The Pound & albums through Duke now)
10)Tears For Fears: Songs From The Big Chair(still love this one, but have to be in the mood for it now)
Numerous greatest hits compilations and live albums, soundtracks from Saturday Night Fever and FM are honorable mentions
The Hurting and Songs From The Big Chair are both 10/10 albums for me!!!
