- Each year on September 24, South Africans have been celebrating Heritage Day since 1994. It was originally in honour of the legendary King Shaka Zulu, who convinced multiple clans to stand together against the Boers and the British. Happy Heritage Day to all South Africans, regardless of your race and culture. The way I see it, this day is to celebrate all of our heritage, whether you are Zulu, Xhosa, North/Central African, Afrikaans, English, European, Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, etc. We are all descendants of those who migrated to Southern Africa many years ago. Even the Khoisan who have the strongest historical ties to these lands, must have come here from somewhere. Today, we are all South Africans. Let's celebrate our diversity and our heritage together. 🇿🇦
Celebrate AFRICAN BLACK CULTURE... Not white Western hegemony.

The first heritage is language. Without language we are doomed, what is there to celebrate? People are nolonger proud of languages. Where are those cultural villages, poems, traditional dances, weddings, the list is endless.
Tseko go and braai and have some zama legs ❤

If the celebrations are named after a person who is braai day who is braai is it braai day. Why are the Xhosas celebrating Hinsa for today? 😳
