    Alway enjoy your op’s videos. Great scene and detailing!

    I enjoyed the ops. I really enjoy your layout because this is an area I know quite well. I grew up in Elmira and used to spend a lot of time in the summer up on Seneca Lake. I have lived in Texas for over 20 years now though and can only dream of the cooler summer days. 🤣 Watkins Glen is a great town and you model that area very well.

      I love comments like this! I practically grew up in Seneca Lake, but moved South in 1989. Went to school in Watkins. It is a magical place in the Summer. Not so much in the Winter ❄ 🥶. Take care! Bill.

      Ha Ha good one! I've got a couple scenery vids coming up. Then back to the ops with my FGLK B23-7 running solo. I REALLY like the sound of that one. Take care - Bill

    Has the FGLK used borrowed NS power to do the Watkins run? I like that eye graffiti. You see that all the time in the Binghamton area.

      IRL, I doubt it. (Everytime I see IRL I think Indy Racing League.) The eyeball started out in Syracuse; dude named Vacant. WTC - Wasted Time Crew. I'll message you the link, it's an interesting article from Syracuse.com. Stay cool man! 🥶

    0:35 sound effect or real handbrake set ? Either way,friggin cool. Your covered hoppers are beautifully grimy. Those are nice.

    • @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout
      @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout  4 месяца назад +1

      The handbrake is from TrainCrew, I put a link to them in the description. They've got other sounds you can use to enhance your ops. Thanks for the compliment on the hoppers. They are all individually weathered from photos of the prototype cars. I think that is why they look so good. You can't make this stuff up. Well you can, but it won't look as good 😉

      @@MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout Fren, really enjoy your modeling and weathering. How long have you been modeling ? One day,I will be able to capture the prototype look. Real talent that should be admired. If I could give ten thumbs up I would. Please keep us viewers tantalized as time allows. Out.

    If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the yellow switch handles?

    • @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout
      @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout  4 месяца назад

      Sure! I made them, here's a video - ruclips.net/video/GHH5WZ3Ycpk/видео.htmlsi=JqUTVd9a6ys5Rvqz - I just saw that Alkem Models has some photo etched back saver switch handles in their railings and ladders kit. $35.00. Texas Rail Models made some too, but they are temporarily out of stock. Take care!

    Does the green dot on the CLSX cars mean something ?

    • @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout
      @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout  4 месяца назад

      Hi Bill, per my source that used to work at Cargill Salt in Watkins Glen, the green dot signified food grade salt. Thanks for watching - Take care! Bill.

  • @davidstewart5694
    @davidstewart5694 Месяц назад +1

    What do the green dots mean? That crew was in fra rule violation tying down and fowling a turnout!

    • @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout
      @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout  Месяц назад +1

      I was told the green dots signify food grade salt on the prototype. And thanks for the tip about fouling a switch. I've added it to my notes. Take care - Bill.

    • @davidstewart5694
      @davidstewart5694 Месяц назад +1

      @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout the switch thing does happen, it's a fra violation they will tag you on. The rules say you must stop equipment at the clear point or before fowling the points of facing point, if you're switching and that's where you stop to reverse direction that's acceptable. Standing equipment must block or clear. It's to prevent timing equipment from hitting standing equipment and making a scenario worse and to prevent injuries. It's better to have a run through switch than a bad derailment

      @@davidstewart5694 wow good info. Thanks man! I often wonder how much this little class 3 in the middle of nowhere is monitored. I assume because all their track has speed restrictions, they have fewer rules imposed on them? You sound like you're familiar with this topic.

    • @davidstewart5694
      @davidstewart5694 Месяц назад

      @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout the vast majority of class 1 -3 carrier's lines are about guaranteed to get a visit from fra rules compliance officers at least once a year. Say a class 1 terminal may get several visits a year to go through a selected majority of the ranks. This is speaking more in train (t&e) operations. Track, ect has their specialized fra inspectors too. The basic fra rules across the board applies to all carriers with the exception of say inner plant switchers on private property. Tyson, a Joe's scrap yard for instance. BTW, you got some pretty nice weathering there on those cars.

    • @davidstewart5694
      @davidstewart5694 Месяц назад +1

      @MyFingerLakesRailwayLayout I forgot to mention, all the governing rules apply no matter the track speed. Say a route that's under track authority with or without block signals generally have more rules over moves and speed than ctc controlled territory.
