The "I'm sober" scene makes me think of certain types of conversational videos they have you watch when teaching you a foreign language. The oddly direct angles to make you feel like you're in the scene. Some of the pauses.
I hate to say this but it's weird how the dark skinned woman is treated the worst out of all of the three and exists to be bitter, especially when the main character is light skin, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.
Are you dark skinned? I ask because as a dark skinned woman that’s one of the FIRST things I noticed & I came to the comments to see if anyone else picked up on it. I don’t think you’re reading too much into it; depictions of dark skinned Black women as angry/bitter/generally problematic are literally everywhere in media (if we’re present at all). Like someone else said, it’s happening far too often to just be your imagination.
Lmao this is a low budget movie so I didn’t really notice it, but when it comes to big Hollywood movies it’s very noticeable. When a character is experiencing serious pain they cast a dark skin woman and when the character is the love interest it’s usually a light skin woman. When it’s time for a male character to be masculine and dominant they always cast a dark skin male. In movies and sitcoms the son is usually dark and the daughter is light skin or racially ambiguous.
Tubi has an odd relationship with black movies. I remember for black history month the BEST movie in black history month section was head of state. The rest rest were movies like "My sidechick won the lotto" 🙄
The lesbian arc definitely had me going “Wait, hold up-“ but also like “Yesh, my black lesbians🥺”. A shame they weren’t end game, but it’s okay. The rest of the movie was pretty hilarious🤣🤣🤣 Also, sorry, I nearly laughed when she almost called her “Lumpy”💀

Only halfway into the video, but here's my understanding of the plot so far: Two married women enter into a relationship after finding themselves disillusioned with their husbands. Things are great, by all accounts, until they inexplicably end things to remain with their husbands. One of the women enters into a second affair with a man who turns out to be her ex girlfriend/lover's husband. While, the ex girlfriend bangs her husband's parole officer ... Is this The Sims? It feels very much like The Sims.
Honestly, the fact that it's so convoluted definitely seemed like a true story. Once the sidechick was brought into the bedroom, I got Tiny/T.I. type of teas.
@@LadyAstarionAncunin Still, “based” on on true story could mean literally ONE thing in the story kinda actually happened and other events around it are based on vague related events kinda guessed at that might have happened.

Man, I don’t care if it’s a true story. They shoulda retconned it to have Yaz say, “Wait-“ and grab Nadia’s hand after Nadia said, “It’s okay. I didn’t expect you to ride off into the sunset with me, but I really, really wanted you to.” They could end it there or have Yaz say, “You’re right. I choose happiness. With you, Nadia.” And then played out the potential life she should have had. Plenty of potential for family drama with the bible-studying dad and conservative husband and probably having to move away before Jai kills them both for Nadia leaving him. I MEAN, SHIT-THEY WERE PAINING TOGETHER IN A HOTEL ROOM AS A DATE 🥺🤧💗
It's interesting to hear your take on using "ghetto" as an adjective! I was just reading something for my Masters course, and the author made a similar point. Describing something that was "of the ghetto" isn't inherently offensive, more just accurate. People who live in ghettos/marginalized areas are often barred from accessing resources or are isolated from surrounding people beyond their area. Thus, they have to resort to other means to fill those needs or develop other ways to deal the stress of living life as a marginalized, often lower class person. However, it becomes offensive when "things of the ghetto" are assigned to a specific group within the ghetto, primarily Black people. The author used the example of a haphazard plumbing fix. It's accurate to say it's a "ghetto fix" because lower socio-economic people often can't afford the repair or don't have access to affordable plumbing services. But the use of terms like "n*word rigged" is not only deeply offensive but ignorant as it implies only Black people are impoverished while ignoring the institutional factors that perpetuate cycles of poverty for Black people and all races.

If you're ever itchin' for a "So Bad It's Good" movie, I'd suggest either *Sick Nurses* or, *EXTE: Hair Extensions*. *Sick Nurses* is a Thai horror movie that's such a beautiful clusterf^^k full of catty nurses, lies, drama, demons, and a plot that's reminiscent of any soap opera that's gone fully off the rails in only the best of ways. *EXTE* is a Japanese horror film about literal haunted hair extensions, and /man/ does it have it all; bad CGI, over-the-top acting, insane yet iconic death scenes, creepy man with a hair fetish (and he sings!), some nostalgic campy-ness...so much to experience. Both are just two of the many little hidden gems from the early-2000's, truly remnants of an era of "Goofy But Gold" cinema. And as a bonus, they both have a sub and a dub, and the dub versions are just...~chef's kiss~

It’s so funny how Tubi can go from Django to “Turned Out” . It’s such a mixed bag of good and bad
I LOVE TURNED OUT! its so horrible but hilarious, its a terrible favorite
Turned out? Lol sounds like my next watch!
I hate to say this but it's weird how the dark skinned woman is treated the worst out of all of the three and exists to be bitter, especially when the main character is light skin, but maybe I'm reading too much into it.
you’re definitely not reading too much into it. It happens too often in media to not be intentional
No I thought the same thing and I also thought it was interesting how the author herself is dark skin but was played by a light skin woman???
@@formlessdivinity What do you mean not intentionally 🤨? It very well is a result of Colorism
Tubi has an odd relationship with black movies. I remember for black history month the BEST movie in black history month section was head of state. The rest rest were movies like "My sidechick won the lotto" 🙄
Now I wanna check out tubi
Yes! I stay away from the Black movies.
It's a mix of bad and good movies I've found some really good black movies on tubi
Then they take away the great movies like the blaxploitation.

The lesbian arc definitely had me going “Wait, hold up-“ but also like “Yesh, my black lesbians🥺”. A shame they weren’t end game, but it’s okay. The rest of the movie was pretty hilarious🤣🤣🤣

@@IceQueen975 I’m pretty sure that post wasn’t trying to give them “lesbian” identities or claim that they weren’t into dudes. “Yes, black lesbians”, as in wishing they had ended up together.
I'm over here like, "I don't like cheating either, but I hope they end up together." Oh well.
2 black femmes as well, pretty rare representation
@@liteflightify Yup! Basically that. I feel I don’t see much of that represented in media, especially both of them being femme. At least from what I see. Two white femmes, maybe.

I thought there was like a tiger roar sound right then! And I was like did he make that noise or are they watching a nature documentary in the background?
Only halfway into the video, but here's my understanding of the plot so far: Two married women enter into a relationship after finding themselves disillusioned with their husbands. Things are great, by all accounts, until they inexplicably end things to remain with their husbands. One of the women enters into a second affair with a man who turns out to be her ex girlfriend/lover's husband. While, the ex girlfriend bangs her husband's parole officer ... Is this The Sims? It feels very much like The Sims.

You actually need to have very little "facts" in a story to "base" it on a true story.

Honestly, the fact that it's so convoluted definitely seemed like a true story. Once the sidechick was brought into the bedroom, I got Tiny/T.I. type of teas.

I MEAN, SHIT-THEY WERE PAINING TOGETHER IN A HOTEL ROOM AS A DATE 🥺🤧💗
this feels like i’m gossiping with my older cousin abt some messy stories she knows 😭 i can’t
“Ghettos” came from Europe anyway, so it being applied to Black people is bs. 🤦🏽♀️
Tubi has a seemingly endless supply of weird, ultra cheap horror flicks that I think fell threw some sort of trash portal. You’re in for quite a time, can’t say it’ll be good, but it’ll be a time.
They have some great old grindhouse horror schlock. They have more horror movies than Netflix or any other streaming services, maybe even more than Shudder.

Let's talk about how perfume just enhances the mood of everything. Because I recently bought like a 6 dollar perfume from Burlington coat factory just to try and it's AMAZING on me. I get so many compliments and people just loving be close by and hugging me. I got the same reaction with glossier you.
I find warm and also neutral scents, sometimes earthy, sometimes clean perfume just work the best for me.
But on my mom, floral spicy scents are just 💋👌
Or my brother, I got him a cologne I thought would compliment him and he freaked out with girls saying he smells good.

It’s sad to think that the blonde updo character was probably treated like shit by these people because she was a sex worker but I hope whoever that is in real life feels glad to have been left alone after all this mess
Okay I haven't finished the video but after watching the very first part, I have to include this PSA: do not use those services that they connect you with that supposedly set up all your other services for you. They usually do not even work, they can be very expensive if they do work, and it's just a waste of time.
I mention this because I did this myself, and after I called my actual internet company and told them that my power company had connected me to one of these services, they said oh yeah we are not affiliated with them they often try to do that to get your money and most of the time it doesn't even work. Only get your services directly from the company.

Ooh, but I do love having Kennie say LGBTQunity while I’m completely out as bi/pansexual. Ooooh, it felt so nice this time. It doesn’t matter that my dad forgot, my mom exploded at me, and I can’t trust my brother for another decade at least for other shit. It’s been several months and tons of weekly trauma therapy appts since then.
Me seeing the disclaimer for Nollywood level acting and getting flashbacks to watching IrokoTV with my mom: ohhhhhhhhh
The unintelligible line was "good sh!t on that hookah lounge". But that's kind of the same as "you good". It can imply different feelings depending on tone and context. This was either an insincere or backhanded compliment...or outright sarcasm.
eventually, one of these gay side relationships are gonna play out and the two are gonna go run away and be happy and not stay in the relationship that's making them miserable for no real discernable reason.. one day 😔

Tubi TV is a treasure chest of random black movies, "hood films" in particular.
