i have a question for people who live on mountians (tourist places like Darjeeling) do you hate when travelers come to your city because of traffic and other problems or do you like it because tourism is basically the earning of many families there? i always thought that you guys must hate when us tourists come there so i feel kinda ashamed when conversing with the locals there
We don't hate the tourists in general but I personally think wherever there is a crowd, good and bad things are bound to happen. For example, some tourists have very poor habits of throwing garbage in the streets but our own local people aren't any less. I never had any bad experiences personally with the tourists but some of my links that work at hotels tell me it's usually the high class wealthy people who have very bad attitude and superiority complex. The dense crowded places obviously is a hassle too but we don't hold any contempt for the tourists. It's natural. Some tourists are friendly, some are not. We don't really hate the tourists in general.
It's the foreign tourists who treat them well. Sadly people from mainstream India treat North East people as outsiders. And the person commenting above is right, most people from main land India has this sense of superiority and the attitude is diabolical when it comes to interacting with the locals. And sorry if it sounds really really rude, but in recent times there is an influx of people from up, bihar, jharkhand who are settling down here and destroying the local culture.
To all nepali brothers who thinks sikkim and darjeeling was a part of nepal dont hate me Till early 1700s, the whole of Darjeeling district was part of Sikkim and under the administration of king (or the Chogyal) of Sikkim. In 1706 however, the present Kalimpong district was taken over by the Bhutanese. Sikkim was also continuously invaded by the Gorkhas from Nepal. In Nepal (tarai region) also people speake hindi, urdu, bhojpuri and awadhi.
It's called exchange of culture no need to put up country flag here
Though we speak nepali we are Indians. And our Constitution has recognized our language as major.
@@karinaTzy Yeah bro, you are right. I am from Nepal and I feel really sad that people of Nepal love Darjelling people and sikkim people but hate Madheshi people of Nepal. Nepalese should love Madheshi people than sikkimese, Darjelling people. Madheshi are our Nepalese brothers, not sikkimese or darjelling people.

Don't worry bro you don't have to learn Bengali 😊in darjaling mostly people speak Nepali ❤
are they nepali by birth or moved from there

Glad you visited our small town. Hoped u enjoyed. Loads of love from Darjeeling!!!!
i have a question for people who live on mountians (tourist places like Darjeeling) do you hate when travelers come to your city because of traffic and other problems or do you like it because tourism is basically the earning of many families there? i always thought that you guys must hate when us tourists come there so i feel kinda ashamed when conversing with the locals there
We don't hate the tourists in general but I personally think wherever there is a crowd, good and bad things are bound to happen.
No we won't hate you guys just don't litter everywhere

To all nepali brothers who thinks sikkim and darjeeling was a part of nepal dont hate me
Till early 1700s, the whole of Darjeeling district was part of Sikkim and under the administration of king (or the Chogyal) of Sikkim. In 1706 however, the present Kalimpong district was taken over by the Bhutanese. Sikkim was also continuously invaded by the Gorkhas from Nepal.
