It's so ironic that she talks about how lonesome she became after her husband passed away: eat alone, watch TV with no one to talk to, and no one to give her a hug or a kiss. Yet, her online boyfriend could not and would not give her any of that either. She was still alone at home, at the dinner table, and in front of the TV. But her addiction to the fantasy of her online "romance" was enough to keep her sending him money. She paid for pretend companionship over the internet. She may not think that she got her money's worth but she was willing to pay.

Also, the Black members of catfisu team had to keep dealing with her professionally... that's a perfect example of what happens everyday at workplaces in America (and beyond).

Yes grandmother. I am 63 yrs young and I used to date online and the first person I talked to on mingle was a scammer. As soon as he started the story of him being an artist and he needed money for his first showing, it was over. He kept saying this is for our future. I said, "My future is to keep my money for myself." I made a mistake by talking to men who lived out of my city. After a few scam people trying to get money, I only talked to men who lived in my city. I had no more problems after that. Men my own age.

She said, How do I block him, he keeps wanting to chat.
I blocked him for her.
She was also thinking of sending money for a children's charity, ran by Elon Musk, who's subscribers was only around 5000. I asked her does she really think Elon would have 5000 friends on Facebook. I blocked him too.

Her children are victims too. An acquaintance of mine lost all her money on a catfish, but her children finally said they refused to help support her if she wouldn’t give him up. At 75, she had to get a job as a bar back on a graveyard shift in a casino. She still sends him money. Her kids and siblings no longer speak to her. I’m torn between feeling sorry for her or disgusted.

What is WRONG with these women? I’m 69 and look good for my age…I even get asked out IN PERSON sometimes by much younger men. But I’m always embarrassed when they do. In fact, the last time this happened to me (by some guy in his 40s), I flat out told him, “You know I’m old enough to be your mother, right?” So thanks, but no thanks.” When he asked me again, I said, “I’m not comfortable with that” and left. Okay yeah, so I felt mildly flattered, but mostly embarrassed. (Clearly, I failed Cougar School.)
Seriously, there is no way I’d do what these women do… I don’t care how lonely I was. (Which I’m not because I’m still working as a writer and I also work with the homeless, so I don’t have time to be lonely!)

This isn’t really about dating younger guys I’m 64 and yes, I’ve been a cougar at times and I’m in a relationship with a much younger man right now, but the difference is that I’ve worked my entire life since I was 14 years old I’ve done all of my finances. I’ve bought my own house I’ve paid for it, the difference is that nobody’s gonna swindle me out of my money because I’ve worked for what I have. These people have never worked for money so that’s why they don’t appreciate it. Same thing with my mom who is 84 she doesn’t date she never did after my father, but my mom takes care of her finances on her own and like hell she’s going to give anybody anything for free. People forget everything they post online is public. Like, if your Facebook is full of posts that showcase a specific viewpoint or political stance, it’s right there for everyone to see. They just look at that and mirror it. It doesn’t take any skill or guesswork. Especially with the way facebook’s default settings are to share everything you post publicly rather than with just friends, and older people don’t know the difference and never change those settings. Would be willing to bet this lady’s Facebook is full of posts about confederate flags and posts about how Black Lives Matter protests are terrorist meetups.
