Bet You've Never Seen a Fish Room Like This!

- Finally the video many of you have been asking for, here it is! A fish room tour like you all have never seen before. In this fish room I go through all the ins and outs. What I've learned and the reminders Im recycling to myself as I teach and show you that it doesnt take much to keep aquariums and how you can easily breed aquarium plants. If you love nature and/or science these are great tanks to teach with and reconnect nature to what it has been doing for ions passed our normal daily perspectives of what we think they need. A dirty aquarium with detritus or filter is and always will be better then a new clean one for fish. Plants also prefer the no flow but do need more water change for reoxygenation and fast growth. If you dont like your plants to grow fast and want more homeostasis then less water changes will help. I could ramble on forever about aquariums and why I have a live QnA every Friday Night at 9:30pm EST Any way Hope you all enjoy! If you love clean Homebred top quality aquatics and rarities check out the site below. Thanks for watching! :D

Dang man, you've got a lot set up in a short time! I like the concept of the racks being spaced in a way you can see each side of the rack from your desk - that's pretty slick.
ahhhh then 15 hour upload finally went through !
keep the dog , he deserves a good family like yours !
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Finally! Thanks man I appreciate that its crazy how life works. Merry Christmas!
Love the tour, and the way the fish room has developed, and will continue to change with time.
Great job Lucas! I like how you can see the tanks from various directions. I’ve been following you for years and I’m always amazed by your setups. Keep up the great work! Eric
What a brilliant fish barn
Awesome tour, Lucas -- great to see all the progress. Good luck w/ the puppy, too! ;)
Oh, the Taiwan Lily tank! Might be my favorite non-scape, scape ever. Your little intruder is looking for someone to set some boundaries to make him feel secure. Thanks for the update on the whole fish-barn. Dogs and fish; unbeatable combination.😉👍
I love your tours bc I always learn about something I didn’t know we have!! 😂❤
It's Spectacular! I've loved watching this build and the hard work you've put into it. I have to tell you, the blue dreams I got from you have been sooo prolific and I haven't ever seen a shrimp line breed out so true to color, you've done a fantastic job with that line and I'm proud to have some of them! 🤗
Thanks and thanks for ordering them and for the support! I have put a lot of work into them throughout the years.
I love the green tanks !! Friends used to come over & tell me my tanks needed to be cleaned 🤦 then I'd have to explain that I actually had to work hard to get it like that 😂
Lol
Great tour. The fishroom is really coming along. Must be a great feeling to have so many options for expansion. Thanks for the updates, good to see your fish from the old setup are doing well in their new home.
Thanks and yes it is a great feeling!
Rules of the fishroom tour video: If you hear 'hodgepodge' Drink!
Haha
Great tour, Lucas. It's wild to see how much that place has transformed in such short time.
Sump as an extra tank is genius. Working on a set up myself
I see a fish Room like this one every Friday evening on one of my favorite LiveStreams! 🙂
❤️
sick new room LRB.
Beautiful! Working on getting a few aquariums " natural"
Thanks for sharing. Really inspiring! Congratulations! Being so no-nonsense and simple it is really a fish-room in a league of its own.
I am trying to put myself in the shoes of someone with the privilege to have such an incredible space for building a dream fish-room like that and I probably would at least work on two lines of evolution:
1 - Energy efficiency - I live in Portugal where energy is not cheap and went up like 40% due to the Ukraine war so I would aim to have my lights operating from solar panels, same for any air pumps (those latter do require batteries but, with proper planning, led lights can be connected almost directly to the panel set if you are willing to have the light cycle matching the natural one - I am using an experimental system like that and it is running flawless for one year).
2 - Water management - I know you use the concept of minimum water changes but at least in a rack or two, having an automatic system will allow for more flexibility and surely more aggressive stocking.
I'm jealous bro! Lol looks FISHtastic man
All I can say is WOW !!!You have got alot done in a short time bro can't wait to watch this Journey man love it and great job on the Dog ✌🏻
Looking great
Awesome... have been waiting to see the fish room. Thanks mate!
ThankYou for the Tour it was great, have a great week
Awesome tour Guy!! Love the new setup!
I have to sell all my tanks , there in storage, can't afford to move them 800miles , and build a building to put them on my new land , gonna take such a loss on value as I'm sure you know , glad to see you able to do what you enjoy
That’s rough
43:10 Have you considered a library/store room style moving ladder on a rail to access those higher tanks? Hide it around the side at the end of the rail when not in use.... Easy access to those top shelf experiments. Also those portable "Wheelie stairs + standing platform" ... like a mini Airplane stairs ... could be a good option too, just leave a space somewhere to tidy it away
I have thought about it but for the most part I don’t need the ladders on a daily. I do have ladders that are easy to get too. If I did ever try to tackle a project like that it would have to come way down the line since it’s easy to just grab a small ladder.
Nice, first time viewer. I have just set up a few tanks as I've only had water features/ponds for too long. I am just a hobbyist and have to put up with feed back, grrr, of how things look. I love planted tanks but yeah couldn't agree more that the fish/plants don't want a display cabinet, we do. So I put up with the grief, then for my display tanks I am asked where did I get everything from... Happy New Year to you and all from Australia. Subbed.
Happy New Year to you as well! Thanks for joining us!
Great tour, great video, lots of great tips!
Thanks Lucas
I always watch your videos with great interest. 👍👍👍
Love to see this coming together 😅 trying to make my own videos and it’s inspiring to watch all your progress!
Amazing masterpiece you have created there absolutely beautiful work ❤❤❤
Awesome tour ,
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Love to watch your growth looking great
Lovely
Looks awesome brother. Big difference from when you started building. Watch your videos in envy wish I could do what you do. Love your attitude keep it up you have definitely made me a better fish and plant keeper.
Thanks and glad I could help! If you wanted you could it’s just how bad do you want too. That’s at least what I tell myself to keep the drive more.
You teach the "path of least resistance" as far as fishkeeping goes.😂 thanks lucas!
Exactly!
Nice set up do you sell that moss!
Sometimes when it doesnt have algae in it
Just found your channel few weeks ago. LOVE!!! Trying to do as you are in natural setups. Can't find video of what I need help with?. I have 3 tanks, baby Guppies and baby Panda Cory's. Fish fine. My plants keep melting???? HELP $ is killing me replacing! I want to purchase some from you when I get the melt under control!!
Thanks from Abilene ,Tx
Where and how you get your plants play a big role. Also cold water changes can melt them.
Great tour, really enjoyed it😊
How did you build the racks? Do you have a video with all the supplies and everything?
I do have multiple rack builds. RUclips search LRB aquatics rack builds
New sub here, hello :) I love that I'm not the only person with many hobbies -- love this fish room/art space mash up! (or are those not canvases with splatter paint on them?)
Thanks for joining! They are 4x8 plywood sheets :) gives it more texture and dimension when you look into it. I love art too! Aquariums and myself is my main media for art.
Amazing what you have got done already 😜🐠
Where did you get that indoor pond!! That's awesome 👌
I want one
I have a link on my website on items I use
I love everything u got. very father fish style. only thing I have a question on is what kind of insulation u got above the plywood ceiling. bc plywood has no wear near the insulation value of drywall. 1/2 drywall is better than 2 ft of cellulose. and fiber glass is worthless unless u like lung cancer everytime u open and close a door. spray foam is imo the best insulator. I do love plywood ceilings in shops I have 1. also makes it very easy to add drywall in the future. hold heat way better.
I’m not sure I didn’t put the wood up there. I like Father Fish I helped him to get to 1000 subs since he was solidifying a lot of what I was teaching at the time most people didn’t believe it or thought I was doing magic or something lol. When it’s just nature doing it’s thing.
@@LRBaquatics heck yah brother love ur setup keep it up. very motivating. father fish changed my life. I'd definitely hang drywall and just mud it. save big on heat bill. much love from michigan
👍😎Super cool Lucas. Your making good progress, will it ever be done? I’m guessing not. Back wall, maybe paint big river rocks on the rack, just an idea. I like the idea of being able to see inside the nursery, like an old ant farm.
Even if it does get all done which hopefully should be by the end of 2023, depending on budget. There will be lots of space to move beyond the fish room.
Great to see the progress you’ve made dude! I joined your channel right before you moved, so this has been super cool watching your journey. Best of luck and keep up the good work!
Looking good Lucas. BTW just noticed today Petco has 50% off again they bumped 20 longs to $55 but they're still $24.99 on sale right now. Go get you some! Haha. 💪💪💪
Wish I didn’t know that lol but thank you. Now if I only had a bunch of silver lol
@@LRBaquatics Haha borrow a metal detector from someone there might be some gold or silver buried on your property lol.
Nice
Sweet tour. Can you comment on your fertilizer schedule and water changes. I saw from another video you said you dose your tanks. Is that daily? Thanks!
If you RUclips search LRB plant food ferts you should get some good in depth videos on what and how I do it.
Nice!!!
Insparation for rock piles
I've got a aquarium that goes from 50 in winter to 70 in summer in my cabin in central Florida . My question is will Roseline barb's survive?🤔
I’m not sure that may be borderline. As long as it’s not for a long time they I would imagine they may make it.
Since you do no filters how do you go about cycling a brand new tank what’s the process of cycling a tank ?
You can search LRB Cycle and a full vid should show up. But in a nutshell nature cycles it for me and when I don’t want to wait I use old aquarium water and dirty ol mulm to kick start it. Also what I use when I set tanks up at shows.
Will be interesting to see how many CPD's you manage to raise per breeding pair, good luck with them
I’m not even sure how many pair are in the baskets I usually group spawn.
At 8:00, those tanks looks very much like they're from a research lab system. I work with zebrafish and Nothobranchius in an almost identical looking set-up. Curious as to where to you got them, because they're very expensive to buy new.
That’s exactly what they are from and for and yeah they aren’t cheap but I got super lucky and an institute needed them gone so I just had to pay 700 for shipping 3 pallets. I felt like I won the lottery on that one.
Plus cool job you have it sounds like 👍
@@LRBaquatics Thanks, nice room BTW
How often do you feed a non filtered tank?
Once a day sometimes twice depends if I’m breeding the fish or not
What are the reddish colored snails I see ? at the 15 min mark
cause I have 1 that came in on the octopus plant's I bought.
Ramshorn snails
@@LRBaquatics Thank you, cause when I received your
octopus plant's I ended up with eggs on them & they have hatched & the
plant's have grown 2 X's it's size since I got them, there awesome plant's.
LRB what is the dark substraight you use??
Which tanks?
I'd come aquascape something for you
this is just a guess but i think he just stopped turning on his filters and oxygen pumps because of the electricity bill. most of his tanks were specifically made for some sort of fish but it is empty, they all died, right? after that he just stopped cleaning his tanks.
Lol. Well actually if you look on the channel I used to have one of the greatest fish rooms in the world but sold it to rebuild that’s why a lot of tanks are new and developing. I’m also working up my collection again since I sold my last house with the tanks and collections besides the few types I had to keep since they were way too personal and hard to get. It was at the old house I started keeping ponds outdoors that thought me better how to keep indoors.
Thanks for sharing tanks
Thank you Thomas! You know I always appreciate you!
What paint do you use for the racks?
Kilz 2 Primer then Clark and Kensington Exterior Hi Gloss Black
you dont use filters or airstones?
I don’t. Not that they don’t help but they aren’t necessary and for certain situations like breeding fish it’s more helpful to have no filters. But if trying to keep a show tank is best to have a filter that is dirty that polishes the water. More clogged the filter tighter the microns which means the less that gets through.
Awesome
No filter no co🙀🙏
And that my friend is how Florida People get new dogs....
Lol
hay any endlers for sale still?
I not sure if any are in stock but I will update it tmrw before my live stream.
Insane fish room…
Thanks it’s only the beginning:)
@@LRBaquatics my fish room is 6x10’ for now…still crammed a dozen aquariums in it. Breeding a few different hypancistrus, ancistrus and a few livebearers. My favorite breeding groups are the blue eyed gambusia punctata and XENOTOCA EISENI
@@MacJank7 That’s awesome! It all starts somewhere. I use to drag tanks around with me between girlfriends and stuff until I got my own 2 bdr apt. the second bdr I started in wasn’t much bigger then the space you mentioned. You got some cool species going too!
@@LRBaquatics I’ve kept aquariums for over 30 years but finally got a little more space. Building a shop soon and it will have a lot more aquariums like yours with less air pumps and filters. I’m about to get some live plants going in these. Taking notes and watching a lot of your videos and others.
4 tanks tall...! You must be a giant...! I'm not a fan of ladders, I get dizzy... looking good though, keep it up...!
I actually never get to those tanks they are for slow growth Anubias and low light plants. I’m not a big fan of ladders either they are hard on my knees. Thanks for the motivational words!
@@LRBaquatics right on, smart thinking... thanks again
Can you use a dimmer switch to lower the lumes?
I’m not sure how to wire that with the shop lights because certain setups have to be made dimmable even if by a switch plus I need more full spectrum.
What happend to peace aquatics? Not responding or sending out orders.
I personally know that fish room is a lot to deal with. Not sure what he is doing with business side of things but sure with the holidays and cold he may not be shipping or anything… idk
I wonder how that dude is doing that bought your other house
He is still working and learning it. It’s a lot to manage.
Hey! Stop drinking out of that!!! Gotta love dogs.
🤟💪💪
Good to see you back in a proper fish room again!! Looks fantastic!!😊
🇳🇱
The dog looked boney... it's belly may be fat because it full of worms....
He was boney and in terrible condition especially for his age. He is way much better now and has been growing since . he is still a pup.

Thanks for the reply, He wondered on to the right place... Well done.!
Lady LRB. FFS
?
if you dont do your water changes, what are your TDS levels?
Would depend on if I’m using hard or soft water. Softwater is more acidic so the TDS could lower over time. If hard water and doing top offs the mineralization would add up. I still recommend water changes just not extreme ones. Like everything a good balance is key.
LRB became a dog daddo in 10 seconds i love it
Woohooo finally!! 🎉
Thanks for the tour Lucas! Hope the dog has found a forever home. Its amazing how they find us! what a great Christmas gift. A friend for life :)
Right what an amazing way to find our dog for all these acres. It’s unfortunate he went through his cruelty from previous owners but if I ever wanted a dog it would be a rescue to live a better life and the dream on this land.
@@LRBaquatics Did you end up keeping it
or finding the owner? it looks like a pit mix, I'd name it fudge.
Well done LRB, I have been lurking your fish shrimp lines for years, we keep NANF.
But have been learning about
NeoCaradina phenotype blue.
Will place order soon.
So excited for this video!
Did peace and the old fish house shut down?
He is still running it. He doesnt seem to be into RUclips much right now and has been getting the hang of all those tanks. Who knows maybe one day he will come back to make vids but as good things take time and he picked up alot of tanks! I do still make contact with him time to time.
Indiana wants me but i cant go back there ( old 80s song or whatever) i like your stuff man it makes me smile
just awsome
Hope you and your family had a nice Christmas. Thanks for the tour Lucas.
Thanks same to you and your loved ones!
It's nice to be able to see the living products you're going to purchase. I can't wait to stock up on some on neos. Lost my original colony I bought from you years back from hurricane Ida .
Thanks sorry to hear that about the hurricane and shrimp.
fantastic room.... bravo.
Call of Duty squad commander hand lol.
Bravo from Romania Dracula land ❤
Looks like you gained a new dog too!
I am new to your channel so forgive me but how do you deal with high humidity and bare lumber. Also it appears you have bare lumber in contact with concrete. I used to be a builder. I sincerely hope that you have treated all that lumber not to mention the hardware used in assembly.
The barn was already built like this with the wood so had to work with what I have. The barn is far from air tight so it gets a bit of airflow. Luckily I live in FL now where I don’t have to worry about the winter condensation that would be a horrible situation for this wood. I do use exterior decking screws and paint. And as far as the concrete moisture since the temps stay regulated and doesn’t get very cold I don’t have to worry about much moisture drawing up. Especially with the vapor barrier below. Thanks for looking out.
Fantastic ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Do we have info on dogs drinking fish water? I dont think it would bother the dogs. Maybe the fish, i dont know. Id love know
I’m not sure… but will update it in a short today
😎 Promo sm
Just curious with all your tanks do check for ammonia
I don’t. I really don’t test for anything. If I do I check the TDS and it’s usually just at the beginning. A lot of times I don’t even do that anymore.
Love it! Question - do you ever have problems with hydra outbreaks, eating the baby tetras, rice fish etc? All those daphnia etc. swimming in your tank seem like a hydra risk.
I’ve seen it here and there before but never really had any issues before. Plus everything gets quarantined for a month before it even gets to the barn.
@@LRBaquatics Thanks - quarantine is clearly one of your keys to success
Looks good, jealous of all that space 👍 Thats a lot of tanks to get up and running in less than a year.
One thing I have noticed with those green jades is that they are super dark as thats how I been lining them out the last 4 years, but if you wanna chase the more of a green crayon color its easier to bring that out on a black substrate. I've kept them on light colored tan pea gravel and black sand. Seems like they get even darker, and you get more of that teal/turquoise on lighter substrate. Discovered this when I reset a green jade tank from the pea gravel to the black sand, so many completely changed color, same tank, same light, just light tan pea gravel to black sand.
Interesting thanks for the insight they are beautiful greens! You did great work on them!
It's all coming together #Lucus, I see it's going to be more organized
than what you had going on at the other place, & better to work with.
Liked before finishing. Exciting times for you.
