    i am a rythem guitar player and it is nice to watch a review and see someone playing chords the way i play and not 8 min of playing leads. this was super helpful.

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  7 лет назад +6

      hey thanks! ya I'm rhythm and singer too. I can't do lead! But you're right. The point was to show off the amp, not for me to show off playing, like so many people do.
      I hope this helps encourage people to play and shows you don't need to be an amazing lead player. :)

      lando27music here is the thing i have been struggling with. will an ac 15 be good for gigs at bars and other small venues without being mic'd up? i dont need chimey cleans. in fact my "clean" tone is a little gritty anyway. which is why i want the ac15. as you demonstrated quite brilliantly the master volume gives you that sweet crunchy breakup. do you have any thoughts on that?

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  7 лет назад

      I think it should be fine. I have another video where I max out a bunch of 12" combo amps, including the AC15. In that video I max out a Fender Deluxe 85, and I used to gig with it all the time at bars and small venues. The AC15 is really loud. It all depends on the venue/sound guy etc. I would say you wouldn't have a problem at most places.

      lando27music thanks man! and keep up the gear reviews. not all of us play like rob chapman. its nice to hear what gear sounds like the way i would play it!

      I’m a lead player my self but what worries me really is how chords sound, specially distorted chords.

  • @royalblue2229

    I just really like that I finally found a demo with ordinary playing! 😅 It’s definitely much more relatable to what I play. Most guys that make tutorials don’t include any straight rhythm playing, which is kind of annoying.

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  6 лет назад +19

      Darren Mark Bradley hey thanks! Ya I’m a singer/songwriter and rhythm player. I was hoping this would relate to more people, because it’s not always about showing off crazy lead skills {which I don’t have} take care :)

      Yeah it's usually kind of very annoying. Headless noodling usually.

      hey thanks I really appreciate that! I'm a singer and rhythm player at best, so trying to compete with the amazing guitarists out there is not my point. because I can't! so I hope to make stuff that helps people see and hear gear, without flashy playing. thanks for checking it out!

    This is the review that “talked” me into buying a Vox amp, although I got the ac15 c2-12...incredible amp. Thanks for sharing this video! Your playing on this was much more relatable than many others. Most amp reviews have some guy playing mostly lead with very little rhythm (which is what I play). Thanks again!!!

    Excellent review. You went straight to the features, and effects with beautiful, straight forward examples. Some equipment reviewers really just want to play their hot chops for you, and you have to sit through all that.
    You kept the playing straight forward so the viewer could appreciate what the amp actually does.
    Thanks for that!

    I've watched a LOT of reviews of amps and this is by far the best video of any amp. You get the true tones of the amp when changing the settings. Most want to show off their shredding and trying to make amps sound better then they actually are. Will subside for sure.

      the tone cut was the first one. I've honestly never messed with that. I know... it's pretty simple stuff... just never touched it. I see how I can roll some of the brightness off of my gretsch. then... I, never in a million years, would've thought to use an a/b splitter the way you did. I have one in the garage just hanging out... I think I'm gonna bring her in so I can play around with the tremolo with a couple of songs I've done. I'm pretty simple I guess... but I appreciate what you've done here to get the creative juices flowing

      I have an AC10 and a Deluxe Reverb and honestly I greatly prefer the AC10. I've got the British Racing Green one too and they are as awesome looking as they are awesome sounding. I run both of the amps together. I actually wanna get an AC30 just because they're basically the holy grail of Vox amps and I'm working on doing that right now. Vox is the bomb. I've always been a "Fender guy" but man a Vox can hold its own with any Fender ever made as far as I'm concerned.

    Would love to hear the power tubes cranked. Mojo in an amplifier doesn't come from the preamp tubes, but from the power tubes. Try cranking the master and then adding in the pre-gain. Everything gets jangly and the tone of the guitar comes through without too much coloration from the preamp.

    Excellent Demo LB. The reason why. You play chords and you play a lead. I have heard guys to demos where they demo the amp with only single note solos. You can't tell what an amp really sounds like with just single notes. Your demo is also very simple. Most people need very simple, because playing is enough to worry about., not digging through menus and learning a people that is must smarter than I am. Cheers and nice job.. once again@

    Landon, I saw a few questions on your post (which is a great demo), about being able to switch between Normal and Top Boost channels. I use a Live Wire A B Y Switch in my signal chain. i.e. guitar to pedal board, then into ABY, then output A to Top Boost, output B to Normal channel. Enables me to switch between channels or blend both. I would think any ABY would work, but the Live Wire does the job.
    As a side note, I’ve been using Vox amps since 60’s ( sometimes Fender). I play in a 60’s British Invasion trio and I’ve never had a problem with volume.

    Correct me if I'm wrong if you are plugged into the normal jack you can only control the reverb and tremolo if you have a foot switch if you don't have a foot switch you can only control the gain?

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  5 лет назад

      hey there! the footswitch is only to enable/disable the Tremolo and Reverb effects. It's independent of Normal and Top Boost channels. has no effect on gain control. if you don't have a footswitch, then you have to manually control the level of the tremolo and reverb. hope that helps!

      hey there! I’ve never played a Hot Rod Deluxe for comparison. I don’t recall when it would break up in terms of decibel levels. There’s a master volume and a channel volume, so the breakup depends on how much you dial into each knob

    This helps. I’m looking at an amp that I can play at rehearsals and jams with a drummer, bass, maybe another guitar and a singer. I’m torn between something like this and a modelling amp like a Yamaha THR100 or a Blackstar Sliverline. I really like my Yamaha THR at home. My favourite guitar tones tend to be on the Vox side (Blue Rodeo’s early stuff, Crowded House, Midnight Oil, etc) and so I think I’ll go this way. I’m not going to use the high gain in the modellers so I think this is the way to go. Cheers.

      actually, I should have mentioned, it has two volume controls. A master volume and a channel volume. The Channel volume is what gets distorted as you turn it up. So you can crank the master volume, and keep the channel volume rolled back and get some great clean tones.

      hey thanks! I was using a generic foot switch. most 2 channel footswitches are fine. I don't recommend an aby, unless you need one. As for pedals I really like a boss sd1 or tube screamer to increase the dirt. Also an EHX soul food

    • @landonbailey
      @landonbailey  6 лет назад +1

      oh ok. The amp doesn't have a clean and dirty channel. It had two channels, one called Normal and the other Top Boost. Top Boost let's you change the lows and mids, normal is set the way it is, and you can't change it. The dirt in the amp comes when you turn up the channel volume. It breaks up on it's own. hope that helps :)

      +Kenn Jørgensen thanks for watching! Apparently the single coil pickups in my Jazzmaster aren't true P90s. I'm not sure what makes them different. So as far as a p90 in the bridge, I've heard they can be noisy (they "pickup" a lot of inference noise). But I'd say try it out, I'm sure there are quieter p90s out there.

      I've got a Gibson SG Jnr with a single P-90 in the bridge and I love it. I play it more than my humbuckers guitars. People say they can be noisy but really it's no noisier than any other single coil guitar like a Strat or Tele.

      If buying the 10 I would likely drop the price difference in a good trem pedal.

    Hi! Which would you choose between this and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III?
    I got the Fender and was thinking about trading mine for a Vox.
    I own a Strato AM and play almost hard rock such as GnR and so on, would you recommend it? Thanks!

      My best advice is to try the Vox in person if you can. Amp/Guitar tone is such a personal thing I can never say if something is better than something else (for someone else) . know what I mean? :) I will however plug another video IO did about the AC15 and why I think it's great. ruclips.net/video/GFy_g0n7a-s/видео.html
