If you like this and (like me) have yearned for something as fun as V3, try Swing Racers (if you have an iPad/iPhone). It's as close as you get I reckon, though nothing beats the original.

i played at least 200 quality oldie games before counter strike sucked me in totally. imo MM1, and MM2 for dos are still very fine pieces of joy, but its lovely too. i think its definitely on the podium seeing the other parts of the series, because MM V3 1997 for pc is a first try going to 3D with the series, and sometimes thats too plain sometimes thats too fuzzy, while MM4 for pc is more evolved but i think is not close to the harsh and challenging and clean game experience of MM1, and MM2. i think this piece for PS2 is very nice, not too plain, not too fuzzy visuals ingame
but as i know a new part of the series is announced for 2017 summer! :P i hope that will be in the top3 MM games
