Yes this show is a soft spot in my heart as well . I was there . Could hear a pin drop during Stella . NFA......Missing Jerry .
The memory of this will not fade away brother songs like this will never lose their meaning to those who understand
In the end, isn't this what we all longed for...To hear Jerry work out his scales while drifting through shades of blue? No fancy colors, just bending those rusty strings just one more time, cryin' like the wind. It seems like all this life was just a dream.
I was there too, behind the stage
I love this live version of Stella Blue. So pretty, so good, so Jerry.
Thanks to the uploader
The lighting is perfect.
This was my first Stella after seeing about 15 shows. Thanks!
Only heard it once too. Never forget. I left an security let me back an danced with me
My first Stella also after 7 shows
there's nothing you can hold for very long
Wow
There's nothing left to see, just,,, broken dreams..
Wonderful.
Only GD show I didn't pay to see. About 5 of us climbed about 12 bucks of scaffolding lol. People looked like ants on the ground. Knocked on the door a couple let us in they were amazed we scaled it lol. This show didn't disappoint at all top 5er for 1990
I was just mentioning this to a friend who was with me, lol.
The Paramount Theater was being remodeled, and scaffolding w/blue tarps, and some fencing around the construction.
Tickets were hard to find, but ingenuity is a Deadheads best ally, and soon folks were seen quietly sneaking in. And the heck if anyone knew the way, but soon, a pathway was found. Certain 'guides' would show a few at time.
Inside MSG, it's below ground quite a bit, w/15' wide, yellow walled, circular hallways around each floor.
Very similar. Yellow walls turning pretty quick, to the left or right, depending on the direction your heading.
Every once in awhile, there would be a "janitors" closet door, sometimes an office, or exit.
And every 5-10 min a door was open, a Deadhead peeked out, coast clear! And within less than a second, just yellow walls again. And a super happy Head, big grin, ear to ear, was officially in the venue!
I don't think anyone but Deadheads would even try to figure out the logistics of where, when, how, and especially for free, so others could prosper. I'm really glad we didn't have these phones then!
There's really something to meeting strangers, picking up hitchhikers going show to show.
'Once in awhile you'll get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right."
Can't wait to time travel back..!
scott minton I know that guy. Hahaha Suup Scott.
I was one of those ants
I aslo.left MSG in an ambulance...
I had dropped ?( I honestly dont know how many hits) got to the E.R. at a St. Joseph's hospital? Anyway i knew i had to get out ...made a run out the door and walked for. 10 blocks following the music..and some how it worked. This was my first time in the city...matter of fact this was my first show.
Thanks Jo
chills - the memory of this day is still there!!! i can feel the place's vibe as if i was there again .. just thank u
and a hug
Holy shit I have been looking for this bootleg for ever, why it did not occur to me to check RUclips, is beyond me me.
Thank you for the upload
Anyone thinks Jerry wasn't missing Brent you can see it in his face
beginning of the end and he knew it. so sad
and brent just died less than two months ago
it makes sense jerry kills this song when he plays it in ny ,hunter did write it while staying in chelsea hotel
Maybe cohen, janis, an hunter road the same elevator. Sweet
they loved the northeast, at least the music reflected that
How does this only have 12000 views?
I remember back in the day all the dead heads being upset when they played this I didn't get upset but didn't appreciate it like I should have. It is an incredible song sung with such emotion very powerful I listen at least once a week
On of my favs live... Fare thee well Jerry
No dust on those strings ! All hail Garcia the Great !
It's like a portrait of Jerry...may "Jerry's Kids" live forever..I'm one !
This tune from album WAKE OF THE FLOOD. First emotive composition - first personal relationship of personal depth of emotion expressed through the musical composition - WILLIE NELSONS' rendition of STELLA BLUE is musically in touch with the expression heard hear - NELSONS' musical arrangement to this is solidly on point. He gets it. Melson doing STELLA BLUE is on yt as upload.

My 7th child is named Stella Pearl...born April 20, 2009
Another example of why people love the Dead so much. They never play it the same way twice and that solo proves it yet again. He went into "Air Jerry" mode on that one.
Stella blue...
All the years combine
They melt into a dream
A broken angel sings
From a guitar
In the end there's just a song
Comes crying like the night (wind)
Through all the broken dreams
And vanished years
Stella Blue
When all the cards are down
There's nothing left to see
There's just the pavement left
And broken dreams
In the end there's still that song
Comes crying like the wind
Down every lonely street
That's ever been
Stella Blue
I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel
Can't win for trying
Dust off those rusty strings just
One more time
Gonna make em shine
It all rolls into one
And nothing comes for free
There's nothing you can hold
For very long
And when you hear that song
Come crying like the wind
It seems like all this life
Was just a dream
Stella Blue
Stella Blue... Stella Blue.. Played on Rose Budd
The meister
Phil funkin it during Jerry's solo.
...And vanished years.....
Jerry moments
I miss Jerry... NFA

Church time
Jerry pulls out of one his 90s train wreck trumpet/flute solos and dials back to a true Stella tuning full of mood...not Kenny G. @8:38. Thanks Jerry G!
We were all still just so sad about Brent. Most of us all really disliked Bruce Hornsby. His vibe was all wrong…. His notes sounded like a damn carnival to me… but whatever, Jerry liked him.
can't win for fuckin trying
There's just the pavement left
