Therefore, Japan is commiting massive resources to ensure Taiwan remains sovereign. Defense budgets are doubling, stronger ties with the United States are forming, and perhaps most importantly, an Izumo-class aircraft carrier is coming.

I my opinion the fact that Japan has an aircraft carrier without a ski jump flight deck is an advantage already.
