That one caught my eye too but you do see that carving in Egypt, quite often one of them actually looks as if they're showing the male phallic symbol and what looks to be like a magnification of a sperm cell.

When you were hiking up into those rocks, all I could think was, “keep an eye out for snakes!” And then I read your explanation, “they died from snake bites.” Makes sense to me!

Excellent camera work very well done.

Thanks so much Colin for you're rich knowledge of Australian Indigenous culture. Really great Mate and appreciated. I know a bit about the Darug and Sydney Aboriginal history but not much about the Darkinjung who owned this area. I wonder though if the story about the Egyptians coming here really was true?

Darkinjung is a name for a language type shared by a number of tribes.
Same as is Bunjalung language type is shared by many Northern Rivers mobs.
Theres not any actual tribes call them self as Darkinjung or Bunjalung
These lands here they are Garingai tribe lands.
      Always was, always will be.

The lichen grows very slowly, large patches are very old, up to hundreds of years sometimes more. Some of the large lichen patches the makes it look like some of the carvings are verrry old, yet some look very fresh (younger than 1970) as it's clear they were carved into an existing lichen growth. Though lichen only grows when the rock is exposed so it's not useful here to work out if this is a hoax or not. But someone might have added to the story recently.
