You are quite right! When you compare the quality of acting to the standard today(with the odd exception) the 80's early 90's were far better, my father used to be head of security at HTV in Bristol and john Altman(nick) used to come down to do voice overs, he was so well spoken my dad was taken aback! My point is, danny dyer speaks that way naturally.....do you know what i mean?
Eastenders was far better back in the 80s. More realistic than the sensational rubbish it's been over the past 20 years. 1985 - 1989 were the best years.
Ali only took 8 beers? Surely a thing like that to find Ethel's little Willy was intended to take a few hours. At least take 8 per person, or wasn't he even buying for Sue?
Why don't the BBC change another day and time Tuesdays at 9:45pm Wednesdays at 9:45pm and Fridays double bills and extend the running time but up to 42 minutes instead of Mondays at 8:pm and Tuesdays at 8:35pm and also Thursdays at 8:35pm for the TV programme drama called EastEnders for all time?
Angie's suicide attempt, a highlight of my childhood. Seeing this aged 6 it was the first time i realised anyone would be stupid enough to kill themselves, or try to in her case. I was already very familiar with death and murder through Halloween, Jaws, Dirty Harry and Goldfinger, 4 films i still dearly love today. It was just a new concept that obviously as a little kid i'd not ever considered before, but i loved it. Obviously for today's namby pamby audience the BBC would probably give a trigger warning, i mean what is wrong with people now? They are too soft i think.
What a tremendous actress Anita Dobson is.
Sarcasm?
She was one of the best 👌👌

I absolutely love these old episodes of EE.
Yes top dollar.
All good
Me too never get tired of watching
Angie is my favourite character ever !!
80s Eastenders was truly the best...infact nearly everything was better then.
Absolutely
I’m pleased Anita Dobson earned an award for her performance.
That ending scene alone deserved an award for Anita as Angie.

Much better then they had some really good storylines back then after 88 it was for me never quite the same
These comments are so dumb. Every soap had to change and become more dramatic because of failing ratings
@carlaconnor8347 In fairness, the ratings weren't declining for EastEnders & Coronation Street when sensational storylines were introduced.
angie deserved so much better
Coooor loved Ang and I was only 6 yrs old at the time 💋💋
stacy's mum is jan
I remember watching this episode back in Florida PBS channel 2 Florida BBC America
The nerve of Jan
and den
roly❤
I love Willy and I hope she finds him soon.
Maybe the storyline continued in the following episodes, but I think the precious jewel Ethel was referring to was Sue’s baby Hassan 😭
Where was sharon for her mum in this situation?
What a dumb question
When you look back there were more characters then, and a bit more realistic....most things of this nature have become dark .....depressing ,
I'm all

Poor Angie.

The writers must have been falling over themselves to devise Den & Angie’s storylines and pen scenes.
Poor Tom Watt 🤦♂️ 🍇 🍌 😂 Then years later he did that Tango ad in just his pants 🙄
I will comfort you baby Ang 💋💪
What breed is Roly? A large poodle?
A Standard Poodle, my auntie had one at the same time. Somewhat temperamental.

She looks a bit like Linda Carter
That is terrible showing a bird like that in so much distress. It might have resulted in other suicides up and down the country.
