That's a nice workaround/hack for the AOD, but I'm still salty over the fact that this could've easily been available to all OLED panel iPhones.

The reason why they haven't brought the camera upgrades and always on display to the standard iPhone 14s is because Apple are being cheeky f*ckers and trying to push users to get the 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max, for them to spend more money, therefore Apple gains more money and gets richer and stays at the trillion dollar value they are currently at 👍
Better yet, the 13 pro/max has the exact same promotion hardware, so it could've easily been possible but apple likes to use software and pretend like it's a hardware feature

Only the display of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max can clock down to 1Hz.
Saying they have the same hardware as iPhone 13 Pro/Max is wrong.
Hey I really appreciate your offers and I really understand what you just have said. However I recently buy the pro max and the display turns off automatically during the night from 6:30pm to morning. And I don't like the fact it tuned off by itself. Is there any Sulstion for that???

Miguel, great video here but, I want just a clock on my lockscreen even when the phone is locked. Can you please make a video explaining how to do this wizardry on an iPhone SE (2nd gen. 2020) and the clock, just the clock, will remain displayed even when the phone is locked? Or perhaps only Harry Potter 🧙♀️ can make this happen? This is probably asking to much of Apple!
Please tell me the steps to change the screen timeout of Lock Screen to Never. There is an option for Home Screen, but not for Lock Screen..
Will this update come to the iPhone 13 Pro Max? I don’t have it on 16.3 beta
5 years ago I had a Samsung S7, their top model at the time. It had always on display and an IR-blaster. Then I stiched employers and got an iphone from the employer. It felt like 5 years back in time. The iphone 8 from back then is now replaced with an ipone 13 and I still don't have the same hardware level that samsung provided 5 years back at half the price. Apple sucks.

nope miguel, seems there must be some other settings to be customised. this way the background is showing instead of complete dark (on 13 pro max).

Not sure if you'll see this but I'll give it a shot. It's kinda working but not quite fully. It only stays on for seconds. It will show again if I tap on the screen but again only for a few seconds. I'm sure there has to be a setting somewhere that's interfering with the ability to keep the display visible at all times.

just a battery reference for everyone. I tried this for 33 minutes at about half brightness and it drained 6 percent.

well most people charge their phones overnight, so it really doesn’t matter because it is charging at the same time, but in the long run, it may get screen burn-ins (if ur unlucky)

How do you get the stock wallpaper on the 14 Pro to simply dim with the always on display like you have it instead of turning dark blue when the screen is locked? When I have that wallpaper set and I lock the phone, the always on display is a dark blue version of the wallpaper but I wish it did what yours does but I don’t know how to do it lol
Next ios update (ios 16.3) it will have this option but for now you’re stuck with the dark blue version but next update will allow it to turn like this one

Disable the dim lock screen option and in will be fixed. It’s a software glitch.
Now.. if you could just find a way to allow the new iOS17 Standby mode to stay on, on any iPhone and not just the Always-on display iPhones.. I tried setting my lock screen setting to never in display settings but unfortunately, no dice..

you could also, reduce exposure under editor in photos, take a screenshot and reduce exposure again. Set that as your lockscreen

The problem is that it isnt 100% black, even when i have just black wallpaper, then it dims it and it becomes like very dark gray. I can see my screen being light up when its dark in my room and i hate that since disabling "dim option" doesnt change anything in sleep mode, its just like it is, and after i unlock my phone i becomes 100% thanks to my wallpaper

I have the iOS 16.1.1 stable version for iphone 12 mini... But I don't have this option available under Brightness and Display or anywhere else for that matter.
I created a new Focus mode called AOD
I did what he said in the video, and all the settings he changed are only in the Focus settings, not the Display settings (those were for the iPhone 14 Pros)
After that, I went into display settings and turned Auto-Lock to never so my AOD never turns off
I have the 12 mini too but this feature is only available for iPhone 14 models
Not needed anymore with iOS 17 you can use the standby mode
