      Was it a debut or re-debut? They said he was up and got hurt then went back to the minors to rehab. Or did I hear that incorrectly.
      Regardless it was an amazing game = w/o him the Brew Crew does not win this game.

      It was great but Nico Hoerner may have been more impressive. Stepping up from Double A because every other shortstop was hurt for the cubs. He went 3-3 4 RBIs, a triple and a few really good defensive stops all on the road with the fans chanting his name. Who doesn’t love a good debut

    I went to the same HS as Sal and his older brother. Not at all surprised he made it to the MLB bc he was always an insane athlete, but he could not have had a better big league debut. Batting 3-for-3, making the game-winning sacrifice fly, and denying Ozuna a HR is just crazy. And I think this is just the beginning for him.

      Technically the Ozuna ball wasn't going over the fence but still a great catch. Extra bases for sure had he not caught it.

      He’s a 3 tool player but very good at those 3. That’s good enough to be a leadoff man and hit .290 with good OBP and good defense.

    My dad and I watched this game tonight since here in Texas (where we live at least) we don’t get Astros games but for some reason got this game. Turns out it was the best thing that could have happened, such a fun game to watch from beginning to end.

    Being at the game, the crowd was amped every time Sal walked up to the plate! Chants of “MVP” started when he knocked in each of his runs. What an amazing experience for that young man!

      @@SuperPackerBOY Neither did Bellinger when he came up but when he had access to more footage and better analytics. We saw what's happened to him. Frelick can easily be a 20+ homer guy, has a nice tight swing. It'll come.

      He’s actually a 3 tool player all the way as he has no arm and very little pop.
      But those 3 tools could very well be among the best in the game.

      There are many great debuts but most are showcased with the bat.
      One that comes to mind is JP Arencibia's debut with the Blue Jay's.
      Chase Utley's comes to mind as well.
      I just hope this kid has a great career.

      @@TheLyricsGuy Zach Remillard just this year for the White Sox. 3 for 3. Some nice defensive plays. Game tying RBI hit in the top of the ninth. Game winning RBI hit in the top of the 11th.

    I was at this game in person, the crowd response for his first at bat was loud, 2nd even louder, 3rd I could practically feel the place shaking, and especially with men on base and Sal coming to the plate, the place was so electric. So many people had their phones out ready to have his potential 3rd hit on camera 😂 And his performance in the outfield had the same response. Sal made every single Brewer fan’s night.

And the reason for a 1.750 OPS instead of 2.000 is because the sacrifice fly still does count as a plate appearance in which he didn't reach base. It's the rare time your batting average is higher than your on-base percentage.

    A little inside baseball here. Notice how his opposite field first hit made the Brave defense go back to traditional places allowing for his third hit which would've been straight at the defense as it was first set against him.

    I remember watching that game, and I'm pretty sure I had no voice left after the game because I was yelling so much for sal
    And still, to this day, he has never stopped. I would have to say he has more crazy catch and robbed more homeruns than anyone else in just the little amount of time he has played. Sal = 🐐

      @@LL-er5zl I’m a cards fan. But sure. Elly will be a .270ish hitter with 20-30 bombs a year. Where he shines is his speed and ability to get into scoring position. But yeah sal will be like .260ish with maybe 15 bombs in a full season. Guy maybe had one ball hit harder than 85mph off the bat. Wasn’t impressed with anything he did. Catches were okay. Not great plays.
