But it won't ever be a giant titan of gaming, it will drop off in numbers hard like Mordhau, especially if they adopt the zero effort policy that Mordhau did with it's community. For 5 minutes people were praising it but quickly realised it just meant the game's community was a dumpsterfire and no one got punished for anything so there was no reason to play, just troll, which was funny for a week on release but basically made the game a joke after that.

As long as dragging is a mechanic they cant stop it, even mordhau tried to slow you down hugely while swinging to stop it and all it really stopped was the 180 degree overhead, not the rest of the instant hitting.

Get Mordhau if you want a competitive focus, Chiv if you want more casual memey fun (Though Mord strikes a nice balance, if u don't care for competition/skill than Chiv is better, this isn't an insult btw I'll be playing it too :D)
