The pure chaos and brutality of night actions make for great stories and gameplay, I tend to always go for them with all the ships on the table, and I love it But don't follow in my footsteps, or your entire fleet will end up on the bottom sooner or later!
At 22:00 when you set the Bluchers' search for the Allied CVs you didn't check the 'night search' box - not sure they'll launch before dawn. That was a very efficient dispatching of the Centurion, I couldn't believe the number of 15" shells that hit home from your battle line.
Corrected later. The passive style of the interface, where we have to check all the time, rather than the interface asking: it's nighttime, would you like to do night searches, will always cause mistakes.
@@RvTWargames Unless you are annoyed by the battle stopping for every torpedo hit on an already dead enemy. Then the button to not inform you anymore will deactivate the information for all battles, in all your saves. The UI certainly isn't why I enjoy the game. 😅
I love this game, but I hope they will work on improving the AI. Seeing the computer opponent run its ships around like headless chickens can't be challenging at all to deal with.
I have noticed this as well, but, I think it also has to do with their changes in how officers and admirals are being used in the game. In my current italian campaign, I have had two major engagements where the enemy actually attacked with coordinated movements against my fleet, effectively surrounding me. I have also done a small cruiser engagement, where as you say its like a headless chicken.
It's so weird sometimes, a seemingly superior force, will try to run away from your battle line, just as a battered force will, which will immediately turn around when you give up the chase and start hunting you with half their ships on fire. and then there's that lone Destroyer harrassing my retreat at night, so the scenario doesn't end and some flodding Event kills a damaged BB.
Nice vid. Although I've said it before but I feel running battles at 'Fast' speed seems to get you torped and make positional errors way too often. 'Normal' makes multiple battles running much easier.
It's the animation that goes faster and makes no difference. It's me not pausing enough between the 1 minute turns and getting carried away that causes any errors.

We've all driven fleets to become instant reefs in our time!
excellent series, very calm and enjoyable.
Calm 😬
Only on the outside!

I do enjoy watching these uploads. A fine start to a battle with all the chaos of darkness and potential CV(L) reports. All make great viewing.
It's been a 2 hour and 40 minute battle in total with lots of highs, a low and then even higher!

Difficult to get right between being unpredictable and being insane.
That Centurion got Surigao'd.
It certainly did!

Poor HMS Centurion got absolutely merc'd. She got hit with 3-4 dozen battleship caliber shells in the space of a few seconds.
Well if you will self cross your own T
I wonder if Centurion took a hit to the conning tower. That'll keep ships running forward.
That is a good thought about the conning tower and or bridge. If the command staff were lost that explain it's strange ploughing on in a death ride.
