    Eurovision is my passion. Eurovision was my work and I am still gladly part of the professional community of this project. I started at Eurovision 2016 as Czech Head of Delegation. Such a Eurovision story! Form Eurovision in Sweden I went to antoher ESC experience. Kiiv 2017 Eurovision. This was my first and last failiur. Sometimes you need to learn trough losing even it is not plasant. We ended up 13 in the semifinal, second best score of Eurovision Czechia back then. But after this we established ESCZ national selection format. It was mostly held online. Because of this we found Mikolas Josef who went 6th at Eurovision 2018 in Portugal. Than 11th with Lake Malawi, at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
    Eurovision story is crazy. After finding all candidates and songs (-1) for ESCZ 2020 I resigned and left the television for working freelance.
    Not to stop being part of Eurovision, I created this channel as I have an urge not to do just Eurovision Reactions from a different perspective. But also to do national selection reactions, watch others how they do their craft and also give a different approach for Eurovision fans.
    I am very glad was part of many eurovision juries. Mostly in national selection and since 2017 I was in MGP Norway, Eurovision Malta, UMK national selection Finland. Juror in Melodifestivalen 2016. Biggest national selection. Also helped Eurovision Ireland, Eurovision Estonia, Eurovision Azerbaijan and many others.
    Just amazing to be part of this community, so check my Humans of Eurovision, check my Eurovision reaction videos.

      people might look at it as a parody or joke if they take Eurovision seriously. yeah sure first I cringed and thought what the frick is this, but it's not a normal music competition it's Eurovision. Based on the other entry songs that I saw, this is definitely my favourite. If a Eurovision song only has vocals and no performance it won't do well. This has definitely both and sure you can cringe but at the end of the day it's Eurovision and not The Voice or The X factor. yes they are representing Finland but it will be something memorable, people will definitely remember this performance. Because it's epic, funny, entertaining, the vocals are there. it's the perfect show. And judging from what I saw from the camera angles Henri isn't dancing too much. I don't know what Finland will decide for Eurovision but if they only make Henri sing the song. I really think the same thing could happen like it did for Blind channel. Windows95man is definitely better for the performance trust me. Because he makes it entertaining to watch.

    This only works because the maker really loves 90's music. There is a realness and appreciation for the genre amongst all the cringe and silliness. Nostalgic guilty pleasure. It needs 100% commitment, anything less would be uncomfortable to watch.

    It’s not a joke entry, it’s fun entry with deeper meaning lyrics:
    Call me what you may, see if I care, see me slay
    Is there something wrong with the way I look?
    Is there something wrong with who I am?
    If I'm not alright, tell me why do I
    Feel so beautiful tonight?
    No rules! It's how I live
    How I find the wind beneath my wings
    It's how I learn to fly!
    So the song is an anthem of freedom of being who you are 🌈🎉🎊
    Love the empowering message and also how it combines the Finnish mythology Kalevala where the world is created from the goldeneyes’ egg.
    In the stage performance the singer Henri represents the bird (see the similarity of the movements and the clothing) and the Windows95man is born (as all humans) naked only wearing Kalevala inspired boots. The stage coordinator (the establishment/juries) tries in the middle of the song give the rules to our hero but he puts the instructions flying in the air. He wants to be free and who he is despite what the others try him to be!
    Love how this song divides people just like Käärijä did last year! Maybe it’s a good sign?! But anyway please enjoy and have fun with a serious message! Here again Finland shows why we are the happiest country in the world for 6 years in a row!
    And no this wasn’t my favorite song in the UMK but now I think “see if I care - see me slay” and have fun!🎉🎊😀

    • @eetufin
      @eetufin 5 месяцев назад +6

      You are so right that this entry, just like last year’s Käärijä, is authentic. We Finns might seem serious but in deep inside we are fun and goofy. And that is why it feels authentic.
      On the other hand the times Finland is high in the results in the scoreboard in ESC is when we deliver something different and out-of-the-box. We have delivered many exceptionally good and “quality” songs to the ESC for example 2017 one of the best ballads in Eurovision history with Norma Jean “Blackbird” and we didn’t even qualify from the semifinals thanks to the juries.
      So Finnish people think screw the high establishment juries and let’s have fun and be who we are and send something that IS us! It’s not the people’s fault - it’s the establishment’s - at least we tend to think here with many examples.
      But let’s have fun and enjoy life as it is🎉 We deserve it🎊 It’s going to be great ESC spring💃🕺

    • @JKlover9727

      @@eetufinyou're absolutely right, if we send them something that the juries actually think Is a normal performance they'll feel less threatened 😂😂 give more points. But if they are worried a song would do better than their country's song they'll give lots of points. if they think it's at the same level it'll be equal. This is just my personal opinion but sure as heck if we send paskana, I will tell you that wouldn't even make it to the top 5, if its lucky maybe top 10 but it's Eurovision we're talking about. people want to see unique performances because those are ones that usually do better.

    I'm from Finland, and I love this song, especially with this performance, because everything they do is purposeful. Yes, it's cringe, but the ability to create something that looks this cringey without it being accidental is pure art. Like with any good art, you either hate it or love it, but you'll be sure to notice it. True art is not created to please juries or even the public, but because you have a vision and you want to make it reality. I loved your reaction and for sharing your thoughts 😉. Yesterday evening I was in such a bad mood and watching "No Rules!" changed that quite fast - as I just had a good laugh seeing and listening to this crazy performance. They put up such a fun show and the song is really catchy. The song might appear as a joke at the first glimpse, but I'd say it's actually a well put together song. I'm not going to hide that Gåte with their song "Ulveham" is my favourite song (amongst those songs which I heard so far this season) and I love that band and folk-rock music, but as I can't vote for my own country it wouldn't surprise me if Finland do well at the competition or even got my vote, but that remains to see (Alternatively I could quickly move to Finland to vote for Norway...). I agree with you that "No Rules!" will qualify for the final in Malmö and could be top10 🎶😁. No Rules did not turn out to be a jury favourite at all. One must bare in mind that the 7 countries making up the international jury, at the Finnish national selection, doesn't necessarily reflect how all the 37 countries will vote at the ESC in Malmö in May. That remains to see.

    • @JanBors
      @JanBors  5 месяцев назад

      You are saying it right :) I think with juries it will have similar fate but, and that is important, there will be more candidates to not receive a single point from them and that can end up well for Finland.

    • @user-tf5qr7fy2i
      @user-tf5qr7fy2i 5 месяцев назад +3

      @@JanBors 😁 It's also interesting to see how different juries vote. That the opinions between juries differs is something which you would be very much aware of also from last year...(I'm hinting towards the national selection of Norway last year...). But let's talk about this year. While the UK jury gave "No Rules!" their 12 points at yesterday's Finnish national selection, Sweden gave the same song 0 points. Just like the Czech jury gave "Ulveham" 12 points at the Norwegian national selection last weekend (which you obviously know haha 😉 ) - while the Dutch jury granted the same song 0 points. The fact that a song such as Ulveham is differently received by different people is understandable as it's really not a typical Eurovision song, even less typically Eurovision-like than the Finnish song to my opinion. Gåte did over all better with jury than Windows95man did with their contribution, but I don't think any of if these songs try to fish votes from the juries and therefore appears as outsiders just within two totally different music genres. Which means that nobody can really predict how it will be received by a larger international audience. That's perhaps also what appeals to me when someone successfully create a song and a show which has a story to tell without it effecting the musical quality. Then it comes down to a matter of personal taste to love or hate it. People can say that the Finnish song is a big joke, but technically is keeps a higher standard than many of the other songs that's being sent to Malmö this year 🎶. Well, thanks again for your great reactions, I like your style 😊 so, keep those good videos coming.

      @@user-tf5qr7fy2i Imo I believe you are right at some point, on the other hands is the way of approach. Lots of people in juries especially in western countries are Eurovision fans also. Thats not rly happening in Czechia a than this "eurovision" pleasers are here for fans, jurors look more on the real value / quality. You can simply also say how UK f.e. percieve Eurovision, still. Just a fun contest. We need UK to take it as a serious contest like Italy, everyone would value that after all.

    People seem to be slightly wrecked, but holding it together. The shorts being lowered down to the stage did seem like a 90s Spinal Tap's 'Stonehenge' moment. I think what it underlines is, that when the first backup dancers and the rest of the stage shows appeared on the Eurovision stage, the serious song contest flew out the window. What's serious and what's laughable is just a question of opinion after that.

    • @JanBors
      @JanBors  5 месяцев назад

      for sure. Just give you one reality check and other view on this, thats why it concerns me. Some countries will not get to finals with more or less good songs, but "normal". Other season the manager of TV Porgram or content will come and say - forget about normality, lets be crazy. And more and more instead of variable quality we will go this way. Remember 2009 czechia... this will be happening more often. It was hard to get Eurovision to 2016-2021,22 ages. It is hardcore to tell artitst to go to eurovision because they still see 2009, and imagine now. Hope I am wrong.

      @@JanBors Music wouldn't have evolved, if everyone would have produced and listened just normal good music and banned all the craziness. The idea of Eurovision as a laughable event, to which not many serious or top artists takes part, regardless of millions of spectators, originates from the era when professional juries decided everything. And it's not like professional juries give same points to songs across the board. Some juries give full points to crazy songs, some zero. The nature of professionalism is questionable, when juries give low points to songs, which go up there on the charts. If one says, that people just enjoy listening bad and wrong kind of music, then we are in that area, where some classical composer states, that pop music isn't music at all.

    • @JanBors
      @JanBors  5 месяцев назад

      I would agree with this argumentation if I was not also producing the show in Czechia. Eurovision showed me few important things - event, which is watched by milions is rising, because it get off the low quality songs. Those demotivates artists in general and then they dont take contest seriously and only who want to troll it go there. This takes the credit off. ANd I am not talking about viewers only, because they stands more of this... but problem is to find a good music, artists and motivation. You can probably agree on the point that Dunstin the Turkey probably did not inspire many, but Mans Zemerlow, Netta or Salvador Sobral probably did (and many others).
      Also remember history of Czechia at Eurovision - its a funny contest approach - 2007-2009 but we sucked even in this and btw Kabat is one of the most popular bands in Czechia. Talking about what people want to listen.
      So conclusion - public tends to vote for fun for many reason, one of it also that they are having party during the show. Juries should listen the quality over pleasing, which does not mean that those two words cannot collide. Kaarija last year is a perfect example. Sam Ryder or Chanel the same and others. But to get artist to Eurovision is a process and if you show them what is successful (commercial succes is just one factor, last year netherlands is very successful despite getting to the finals.) then you can have variety or you can have only ones producing windows95music.
      What is worst - the managements of televisions will demand this, just to easily get to finals because people wants this. It's a deadly circle. Professional sport will never be professional if there are no juries and if there is always quality performance and not just tricks and slides.

    • @finnishculturalchannel
      @finnishculturalchannel 5 месяцев назад

      @@JanBors Eurovision could dictate what sort of songs and performances the entries should be and they could decide the winner solely through juries, but they don't, because they want to attract people to watch the contest, so that they can tell people what is good music and what is not. Which has led to situations, in which people vote for songs, which get low points from the juries. Not because the songs and acts are bad or they are made by amateurs or whatever, but because they aren't the kind of songs and acts, which come out of the production lines the juries function as gatekeepers for and authorities to. You make Eurovision sound like some fine arts, which and which listeners some degenerate art ruins.

    My biggest problem with this song is that I don't feel joy, only cringe. All this self-irony looks so fake.
    In same field Vox Populi worked for me much better 😢

      Vox Populi was too calculated for me. To me it was fake af. This to me is genuine, pure joy. It's funny how we all think so differently. I'm also glad we didn't send rap again.

    The 2000s are back, more and more every year. This is not a song contest anymore, but a competition in who will shock the audience more. I don't like it.
    Ps. Rules are good, we need them.
