I have always found glazes so interesting.. how they paint on one color and turn a different color after firing just blows my brain. It's on my bucket list to go to a clay shop and take a class and make something. So cool how you're into a little of everything and the relationship you and your mom have is so sweet.
Yeah, glazes are wild. There's so much you can do with them when it comes to layering too. But it's A LOT of trial and error lol You should try a class! Take a friend or family with you and have fun :) I definitely am a "multi-disciplinary artist" now. With that said, I do hope to have mastered something one day ;) Thank you for the kind words about Mum and I
@@FionaCArt Unfortunately, living in a rural place, there's not too much to do lol I'd have to travel a bit to get to a bigger city that would offer something like that.. that's the only things holding me back. But like someone else said, I live vicariously through you and your art ❤️
@kategrossi8717 Hmmm…sometimes there’s artists with home studios that may do one on one’s in more rural areas. Might be worth doing a bit of research to see :) Regardless, I will happily continue to travel and share my journey here with my artistic fam :) Let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see and I will try to do it for you!
@@FionaCArt Awh! I love all your videos and what you create.. but I'd love to hear your process.. how do you think of ideas for pieces and come up with colors and designs.. do you keep sketchbooks and how did you come up with the idea of your signature marks and blooms and style in general?
I enjoyed doing ceramics with my mother as a teenager. It was the best time we had spending it together. I would love to see you and your mother working together. Love, Fran
That’s lovely - I wish we had gotten into this sooner, but enjoying the time now :) My February Artist vlog will have some footage of us together. Mum is still camera shy though so I do my best to hide her face. She also doesn’t like when her voice is in the video either really, but she allows it when she is explaining something lol
Yay a supply haul! These are my favourite, I love living vicariously through what other people buy haha Also - I really admire you & your mums skills with the throwing & glazing, your pieces are really beautiful! One day I'd love to buy some of your pieces but I'd have to do it if I ever visit the US, shipping pottery across the globe seems incredibly risky... I tried a few pottery classes last year for fun / I like trying out new mediums when I can & it really wasn't for me! I did make a paint palette which I use and enjoy but it looks more like a handmade pizza base than a palette lol. ❤
Thank you for watching and for the kind words, Sally :) We do ship internationally and haven’t had any problems - we go over the top with the packaging though haha That’s cool you tried pottery. They say when you’re starting that you’ll make a bunch of “ash trays” since you can’t get much height 😂 It takes a lot of practice and I’m still learning from my mum. My goal is to get as good as her one day!!
I love the ceramic shop! Keep an eye out for their in-person sale - it's usually in December and they have awesome discounts on almost everything in the store but ESPECIALLY on clay! I love my wedging mat, it's so helpful for doing ceramics in a home studio.
Hi how are you I don't know anything about ceramic but they interesting poor thing I won't be able to learn in my university i have to choose mural because that's like the teacher was only available for mural so I got to choose mural as semester 4started this week but I still would to love to learn about ceramic too
That’s very cool you get to take a mural course! I wish my art school did have that back in the day :) Enjoy it!! And I hope you get to try ceramics one day :)
clay/porcelain is so expensive, makes me glad im not a potter...but then again some paper can get pretty expensive lol (dont get me started on digital tablets lol)

@kategrossi8717 I will try to talk about that in my next Artist vlog :) Stay tuned!!!
The large bloom/flower cutter could be a ring, coin, trinket dish.
You glowing in the opening shot ❤
Yes! I think I’ll try something like that with them :) And thank you for saying so! 🥰
